My dude!! Thank you for sharing your solution!! So glad I came across this video. When I first bought the game it worked beautifully. No lag, snagging, or stuttering. Then after a few months, that changed. Cutscenes lagged, combat would snag, driving the car was an absolute nightmare. This video fixed all the problems! Thankyou for making this!
I got a gaming laptop and was wondering why it stuttering. This video really helpful. I thank the guy who research and made this. I am now enjoying ff15. Great job!
You are a god! I got the game off the summer sale and while cutscenes, cgi and gameplay ones ran smooth as a hot knife through butter, it were very early "cutscenes"? when the camera first pans onto the car and after the pushing the car segment with the camera going up to show the logo of the game, really early intro stuff where it would just dip *hard* on fps, after applying your fix and replaying that early intro section those also ran smooth and worked as promised. Booted it up today and experienced a lot of stutters that I don't remember dealing with before. I thought my SSD was dying, but I tried this and all the stutters are gone now. Just an update: Since this video, there is actually a new option within the Exploit Protection list which is among the top group of things you disabled called Hardware-enforced Stack Protection. Just wondering if that's something we may want to look into disabling
None of the fixes worked for me. It fixed some overworld stuttering but not in battles. What causes this is Prompto taking stupid pictures. The fix is to “disable” this completely by setting the snapshot folder to read only. Zero stutter during battles. Even when doing Blindside hits, that’s when Ptompto love taking pics and causes massive stuttering. However, with this, you won’t have any pics or able to do any picture quests. I think it’s a great trade off though and I can do those quests later.
I tried to find the solution for many hours, Also the shutter always happened on enter battle when I use skill to hit. Save my money to try more high end graphic card.
Thank you. I got the steam version and got always sluttering/freeze at night. When the night was coming around 8pm, i got always sluttering and freeze and it was really painful to enjoy the game. But now, i got nothing after player a few hours at night and the ennemy who give me sluttering before. I do everything as you say in your video (graphism and secutiy) and all is fine now. A small thing I would add to this, I also recommend also not playing with a Bluetooth controller. I don't know how the game was programmed but if there's a problem with the controller - if connection drops - the game drops frames to a really crazy degree. It is likely how the game updates in sync with controller input (or something to that effect) but Bluetooth really messes with it.

Was initially pretty skeptical about this but the stuttering was bad enough that I was kind of prepared to give up playing this one so why not try it? Usually weird ass solutions like this are placebo but not this one, this works. I still get the occasional stutter while driving but besides that it's smooth as butter now.
There's a new setting that wasn't in your video called Hardware-enforced Stack Protection, it's between Import Address filtering and Force randomization for images, does that need disabling as well?
@@ReyzGamingChannel I decided not to mess with it and just went for the ones you recommended, fixed the stuttering just fine so I'll leave the new setting alone.
Tried this out recently, and it was so much better BUT, for whatever reason, the characters dialogue was suddenly slower than the time the game allowed them to say it. It led to them being cut off on their last few words and the next dialogue voice would begin. Very jarring, and I can't confirm that this was the cause, but it began immediately after making this change. So maybe something in those settings moderates the speech/cutscene timeframe? I'd love to know if anyone else was having this issue.
i have a 1660 ti and my tram was set to highest im also using a reshade preset and i run at 60 fps until it drops a bit in a grassy area, turf effects off
For anybody who’s still having the issue and are on pc. My problem ended up being that my display cable was hooked up to my motherboard and not my graphics card. Problem got fixed when I plugged the display cable into my graphics card. I have a rx 7600.
FIX FOR STUTTERS: It has nothing to with the graphics settings, it's prompto's snapshots that is causing them, it tries to access your ssd/hd during gameplay and saves data that's why it is constantly stuttering. Here's the fix: -go to your documents>my games>ffxv folder>savestorage>snapshot -right click on the snapshot folder then click properties -go to security tab then advanced tab -disable the inheritance for all users/accounts then click apply and ok -now go back to security tab again then click edit *now the important part* -UNCHECK allow box on the WRITE tab, then CHECK the deny box instead (this will stop the game from writing data on your drive during gameplay) -do this for all the usernames or groups and do not mess with the other boxes just the WRITE tab -click apply then ok, you can now close it -Open your FFXV game, try to find a save file where you can fight monsters so you can test it -the game will stutter for a couple of seconds after loading a save file because it will try to access the snapshot folder but fail, then it will notify you that you can not save but do not worry this is only for snapshot thing not the actual save file. -enjoy CONS: the feature where Prompto is saving pics throughout your playthrough will not be available but the game will now become stutter free specially during combat.

Bro you are a life saver, thanks a lot for this video, rtx 3060 12gb + r 5600, and i was crazy because of this fucking micro stutters, was thinking of my specs were poor for this game, thanks a lot bro
yeah i get stuttery combat with an i7-10700k 32gb ram and a 3080ti 1440 with everything set to high. I should have enough to run it, but as soon as I enter combat it drops from the 120 to 40fps i changed the settings and it still does it.
Thank you for this method, it got rid of the problem entirely. Is this specifically for XV or can this be used on other games with stuttering problems too? EDIT 1: Turn off your Nvidia GeForce Experience if you're not using it. That's what was causing my hiccups of small stutters. This method fixed the major problem and the GeForce Experience is the culprit for those small stutters you have occasionally. EDIT 2: DO NOT open Steam to play FFXV; create a shortcut icon for XV on your desktop. I always ran Steam's Big Picture Mode to play XV. Tried directly running the game this time without opening Steam and it's running smoothly, not a single stutter/lag(even in combat).
@@Invictus-on2ie That's your Highlights I think. Alt+Z to open the Nvidia menu, under settings; Highlights OFF. Even with this, Nvidia is still running in the background so open the Nvidia GeForce Experience app and turn it off completely for FFXV.
Thank you! This really helped me out. I have an RTX 3080 and normally I am able to run the game at 4k 60fps, but I had random lag spikes where my GPU utilization goes up to 99% according to MSI Afterburner and the game lowered closer to 45fps or worse before going back up to 60fps. I thought it was poor optimization, but as it turns out, it was Windows 10 all along! I was even able to raise my settings to max and turn on Nvidia VXAO. The only settings I had to change was Anti-Aliasing to DLSS, the extra performance boost is really nice, and Nvidia ShadowsLibs, I can't even tell a visual difference.
The thing is the STUTTER not the lag and fps... It freezes every minute, the only way to fix it is to downgrade to 1.25 which we dont have any links avaiable...
and doing this fixed my stuttering issue basically completely as mentioned in the video it may not help everyone but as you can see from the 9 likes it helped some people.

Now i know for sure it's not a hardware problem if what you said about you having a 3080 rtx is true, but seriously i can imagine how mad you were when the game lagged on you LMAO
@@hylian1300 Indeed, actually i started playing this game last year with my former GPU a GTX 1080 and i abandoned it because of how stuttery it was, once i got my 3080 this was the second game i thought about playing and although the framerate was much higher the perception was not much different, stutters everywhere specially in Altissia which is by far the worst area in the game for this. So far the game is fairly smooth with those tweaks, i have everything maxed out at 1440p without DLSS and the game spends most of the time in the 90 -100fps although during some battles it can drop to 60.
It works. Finally I can play this game without any stutters. The game run smoothly by using average setting on GTX1050 without any stutters ranging from 35 - 45 fps.

Not sure how to fix it, even if I disable these it keeps crashing. I don't think anything else could cause this problem because it could load before. I hope someone could help.
I have an issue when playing FFXV. When I drive around the forest where costlemark tower is my GPU fans start to speed up for no reason ( gets to 85 C ). I have I7 8700 and a rtx 2070 FE. I can’t find the reason behind it, I play with almost max settings and no NVIDIA works
that is a very high GPU intensive area so that's perfectly normal to be happening even my GPU when approaching around that area reaches about 80 Celsius
@@Mythic_Blade the fans depending on how much load is put into the GPU and how much GPU usage is being used based on the architecture of Nvidia usually goes up to about what it needs to to counteract how much GPU usage is being used so for instance let's say you go near that area and you know your GPU is being pinned in 100% while the fans are going to automatically up itself because your GPU is being more used than it was before and considering you have a founders edition they are usually not the best for cooling and founders editions usually have been and usually get up to about 85 when under major intense loads
ReyzGamingChannel that means that my GPU is not damaged and I just need to lower some settings? I don’t know much about pc gaming ( I joined pc gaming almost a year ago )
@@Mythic_Blade okay what I would try doing is what resolution are you playing on are you playing on 1080P or what are you playing on number one and number two is try lowering I know it's going to look really bad but try lowering everything on the game to medium and then see if it does it

Usually weird ass solutions like this are placebo but not this one, this works. I still get the occasional stutter while driving but besides that it's smooth as butter now.
There's a new setting that wasn't in your video called Hardware-enforced Stack Protection, it's between Import Address filtering and Force randomization for images, does that need disabling as well?
i would try it and see
@@ReyzGamingChannel I decided not to mess with it and just went for the ones you recommended, fixed the stuttering just fine so I'll leave the new setting alone.
@@theheavenlyfb4071 Was wondering about the same thing. Glad to see this comment!
@@ReyzGamingChannel Hi I'm running Windows on russian language, so I don't know which settings I should turn off. Can you please help?
Tried this out recently, and it was so much better BUT, for whatever reason, the characters dialogue was suddenly slower than the time the game allowed them to say it. It led to them being cut off on their last few words and the next dialogue voice would begin. Very jarring, and I can't confirm that this was the cause, but it began immediately after making this change. So maybe something in those settings moderates the speech/cutscene timeframe? I'd love to know if anyone else was having this issue.
This actually works!!! Thank you very much! Runs perfectly now.
i have a 1660 ti and my tram was set to highest im also using a reshade preset and i run at 60 fps until it drops a bit in a grassy area, turf effects off
still got the lag specially during ambush when everyone started to show their skill effects
Thank you. I can finally sit down and enjoy FFXV without the stuttering nonsense.
For anybody who’s still having the issue and are on pc. My problem ended up being that my display cable was hooked up to my motherboard and not my graphics card. Problem got fixed when I plugged the display cable into my graphics card. I have a rx 7600.
Did not work for me
FIX FOR STUTTERS:
It has nothing to with the graphics settings, it's prompto's snapshots that is causing them, it tries to access your ssd/hd during gameplay and saves data that's why it is constantly stuttering.
Here's the fix:
-go to your documents>my games>ffxv folder>savestorage>snapshot
-right click on the snapshot folder then click properties
-go to security tab then advanced tab
-disable the inheritance for all users/accounts then click apply and ok
-now go back to security tab again then click edit
*now the important part*
-UNCHECK allow box on the WRITE tab, then CHECK the deny box instead (this will stop the game from writing data on your drive during gameplay)
-do this for all the usernames or groups and do not mess with the other boxes just the WRITE tab
-click apply then ok, you can now close it
-Open your FFXV game, try to find a save file where you can fight monsters so you can test it
-the game will stutter for a couple of seconds after loading a save file because it will try to access the snapshot folder but fail, then it will notify you that you can not save but do not worry this is only for snapshot thing not the actual save file.
-enjoy
CONS:
the feature where Prompto is saving pics throughout your playthrough will not be available but the game will now become stutter free specially during combat.

I recommend using 60fps. 120fps is a bit broken

Did you find a solution? I have rtx 2080 and this didn't solve my stuttering

Try my guide. Im building it for literally all versions because im forced to it looks like.
Rey if youre reading this your optimization tip works in Gothic 3, a historically garbage optimized game. Thanks.
dude, i see everyone saying it works and i really want to try it but my windows security has absolutely no options to tweak. it's like a blank page. what up?
Bro, the exploit protection options are there and are still enabled even if you have windows defender enabled. Click on settings gear icon then update and security.
THANK YOUU !! Can finally enjoy the game
Was stuttering the same amount no matter what settings i had, but now i can play on highest!
1070 btw
What FPS during combat you getting?
@@seidor8391 check benchmarks on 1070 it usually shows the average fps on the 1070
Thanks, man.
That was indeed an improvement.
This didn't work for me unfortunately but what did work was completely turning off ansel using Nvidia profile inspector. Tried almost every fix i could find and the problem persisted on 2 PC's.
I should have enough to run it, but as soon as I enter combat it drops from the 120 to 40fps i changed the settings and it still does it.
im stuck at "add program to customize" i cnt seem to find the game frm the local disk
Can you tell me how you did it ? I deactivated the overlay but the small clip taker is still there.
@@Invictus-on2ie That's your Highlights I think. Alt+Z to open the Nvidia menu, under settings; Highlights OFF.
Even with this, Nvidia is still running in the background so open the Nvidia GeForce Experience app and turn it off completely for FFXV.
It can be used on other games aswell just don't do it on multiplayer games.
you mean turning off the nvidia overlay itself?
@@Isotopes30 To stop the stutters? Yes. You can also uninstall it if you're not using it at all.

On PS4 Pro I have option "stable" which is 1080p/30. Everything else stuttering.
Dude, huge improvement thanks.
I have seen recommendations for the Control Flow Guard the most, but haven't seen recommendations to turn everything off until you reach Validate API. Is there more info (citation) on why those are selected and they 're recommended? This video is nice for the summary of things to do, but I'm very curious about the process that came to these conclusions.
Yes. i tried doing multiple tests with all the items disabled and for me i found out it caused some system instability issues.
@@ReyzGamingChannel you might want to let people know that lmao
@@The_Gent when i say all the items disabled im not talking about the ones i showed in the video im literally talking about every single option under that area being unchecked not the ones i showed in the video.
Hi, I have an additional setting called "Hardware-enforced Stack Protection", should I disable that too?
just tested it and it WORKS!! my gtx1060 suffers alot of stuttering in crowded places and with your tut my gaming experience is alot way better partnered by nvidia adaptive gsync been playing flawlessly, and may i ask if this trick will be effective on some other games aswell? btw thanks alot for this.definitely an instant subcriber here.
welp im on windows 8.1 can't see the windows security, it's just the windows defender scan virus stuff, don't know where is the app and browser control thingy
You just made this game playable for me, even with a 3080 the stuttering was extremely annoying, after following your steps i can tell the difference in smoothness immediately.
The game run smoothly by using average setting on GTX1050 without any stutters ranging from 35 - 45 fps.

nothings working, i have an rtx 2070 with a ryzen 5 3600 and im getting constant stuttering, even with kaladiens special k mod. i'm fucking fuming.
ReyzGamingChannel but your fans start to spin at 100 too?
@@Mythic_Blade okay what I would try doing is what resolution are you playing on are you playing on 1080P or what are you playing on number one and number two is try lowering I know it's going to look really bad but try lowering everything on the game to medium and then see if it does it
For anyone viewing this, it's just the Control Flow Guard thing.
Yup - this is the thing you need. Don't bother touching the rest. Works wonders in Remedy's Control as well.
@@knerlington6904 Yea, I hadn't even seen this setting mentioned until Control came out.
Hi all who also bought this on sale, this definitely helped, but the game is still a bit stuttery. 2070 super and i5-9600k
It’s the best it’s ever been, but I still see some freezes when running around in the open world or while driving long distances. Sometimes when warp striking or casting magic. I’m playing the steam version
The game is super unoptimized for i5 even an i5-9600k sadly.
@@ReyzGamingChannel Yep, I can tell it's a CPU bottleneck because it hits 100% every time a stutter happens. Thankfully, the fixes in your video have made it playable, since now the stutters are so infrequent and small that it's playable, if just the tiniest bit annoying
omfg i have literally tried everything including downloading special k. this fixed it
Does anyone know what to do if your save file just shows up plank and I can’t select my file?
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I implemented it and it seems to have made a noticeable difference. Definitely not perfect like you mentioned, but the FPS drops have decreased! Question - FF7 remake has been a notoriously poor PC port and I've refused to play it in its current state cause of all the stutter. Have you tried this on that game? I wonder if it'll make a big difference. I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB Ram @ 3200 mhz, CL 16, and a RX 6600.
Thank you, it worked just as you said. I wonder if the same thing can be done for other games
Does it fix the 5fps ingame cuscenes bug ? I've a 2080 and the latest nvidia drivers and .... Well the games opens before you have to push the car at 5 fps
I’m highly skeptical but reading these comments ill give it a try in the morning and hope to god I’ll have good news
