If sitting (or standing) in front of a CRT monitor was your favorite thing (and I must guiltily confess... it was mine), 1983 was a very good year indeed. Sort of what 1939 was for fans of Hollywood. There was some kind of magic in the air and everything that came out, from the most lowly to the highest, caught some of it. Everything had something to recommend it by. I used to play Mappy endlessly in the arcade just to learn the theme song, so I could teach it to my friends on piano.

So strange to see some of my faves championed here, when NO kid my age would agree on them back in the day. (Btw, we never said 'back in the day' back in the day). I'm only gonna say it once: Crystal Castles rocked! Bentley Bear was the BEST trackball-controlled character out there! Nobody gave that game its due! Why? Too Kawaii? Suck it! Roll on, Bentley! Roll on! Stuff that sack full!
I was thinking the same thing and just my opinion here , the ones I didn’t recognize didn’t look very interesting to me like I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to play them
It's the soundtrack of Gyruss :) To be exact: It's an arrange from an arrange XD The original music ist J. Bachs Toccata and Fugue in D minor BMW 565, a classical organ piece. It was arranged by the UK group Sky in 1980: They sped it up and played it with typical rock instruments. And that arrangement was adapted by Konami for the arcade game Gyruss.

1983 was when the video game crash happened (which really was been a crash of the console market and the rise of home computers)
