I had one of my girls throw three bad litters, but the fourth litter she was a perfect mother to them. She was around 9 months when i first bred her, about 14 months now finally having a good litter. But there are pet lionheads so its probably a big difference.
Some rabbits will always have one or two kits fail to thrive. In the wild, rabbits will often put dead kits in a decoy nest to lure predators away from the surviving kits.
Any info on my lop she is 7 months ols had 3 babies . Doing great for the first 4 days then today she destroyed the nest box and we found the 3 dead babies up the other end of the hutch 😓😓😓
QUESTION --- I have a doe that had her second litter of seven 12 days ago (she had her first littter of 7 - raised them all successfully 10.5 weeks ago) I handled the kits in her first litter everyday from day one. This litter, I have been handling them everyday from day one. She is keeping the secon one fed better, I think ... theu usually seem to have fulll timmies - last time they didn't. She has been doing something unusual this time ... .she is PEEING on them . The first time was at 7 days, then 4 days later (soaked them good, they were cold) then 1 day later. I took out wet litter - and put in some new dry - saved what fur I could. WHY IS SHE DOING THIS? The littler box is in the same spot it was the first time. It has turned quite cold here. Has anyone else had this issue? Is she NOT okay with the handling of her kits now? Thanks for any ideas / suggestions.
I am a 1st time breeder with a 1st time doe and a 1st time buck. I am so happy to say my doe did great. She had 10 kits and all are healthy. When I bought them I was told to breed them at 4 months, but I waited until 6 months. Does the maturity of the rabbit have something to do with how they care for their kits?
So.mine is on her 3rd litter. She had 7 the 1st litter all lived and perfectly healthy no issues. Second one she literally ate all her babies. She just had her 3rd litter tonight about 12 am and I found her eating one. But I think it was week not sure. But she has plenty of water, food pellets, I put different types of Grass and greens. So.mayne she just needed some food boost?
I have a doe that eats her kits if she has a litter of more than 8 kits. In one litter she had 9 kits and she ate one of them and in another litter she had 11 kits then she ate 3 kits. Is this okay?
We have a doe that will abandon kits over a certain number. She likes to raise 7 or 8. We breed her and another doe who often has small litters on the same day (different bucks) so we can foster over her extra kits. It works very well.
Thank you! Our mama rabbit had a great first litter, this second one I walked into the unimaginable. 3 babies left that I removed and will be bottle feeding...I am confused about the timing of feeding though...you stated every 12 hours, and another video said every 4 ?
Chris what do you do if you have a doe that has a large part of her litter underformed? My doe had 8 stillborn kits and 3 live kits. She's a really good momma but has only ends up with 2 or 3 kits. She is definitely not too old she's only 18-24 months old.
Hi Chris, My Rabbit Doe which just kindled yesterday, got Mated by a Buck accidentally today after I got her out while checking the kits 😖😖.. what do I do??
Any tips on how to prevent conjunctivitis in kits? Our first time doe did great with 11 kits but we’ve spent a small fortune in vet fees. First we had one with necrosis in its ears and a foot which they said was a virus, now this latest one has conjunctivitis, it wasn’t there one day and the next it was super bad! Hoping these are isolated incidents can’t afford continued vet bills!
I have one Doe that had agresive kits, always picking fights and biting the other rabbits. she only had 4 in her second liter give her a third shot or just cut my losses and replace her now with a doe from my other rabbit that just had 9 kits? she has been useful as a seregate mom for two runts from the other doe, torn on what to do.

Wow you are more patient than me!

I thought they ate them... they cant risk laying a scent trail...

Is it okay to touch the babies on the first day? I’m just worried that I’ll stress the mom out and end up causing problems if I touch them too much.

We breed at 4 months and have not had issue that seems to be based on the age she was bred.
In other words, we have had some excellent mothers who were bred first at 4 months old.

The only time we had a rabbit eat a baby is when it was dead already and she was trying to keep the nest box clean.
How can I get rid on my rabbits ear mites and they can not have melaleuca because it can harm them ... And she is not eat that much , what’s wrong !
My Mother rabbit has just died suddenly. The 5 babies are healthy and are 2 weeks old. What do i do?

Are they born on or about day 31? I would look at her nutrition.
Hello, great work.my baby rabbits (2weeks old) 3 of the 6 have diarrhea what could be the problem and solution
Without a doubt, if you didn't force mate the rabbits, they wouldn't receive long term mental effects or neglect the kittens.
Big nice rabbit

😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 Thank you very much for the information. 😊😊😊😊😊
I was told ( maybe this is wives tale) give bacon to mom if she’s eating baby
The afterbirth should be plenty of returned nutrition for her.
He says about the bacon at 6.15
My 2 rabbits doesn't take care their babies... I am so disappointed 😞.

Thank you for sharing..
my bunny give birth today and she keeps on stomping on them
Thanks
Also if you were giving her all attention than you let her on her own for awhile is a problem with her stomping babies 😮
Note: There is nothing good information in this video, you can skip and save time
Man with your knowledge, rabbit never eat their babies.
Rabbits absolutely eat and or kill their young. Could be a defect baby, or any number of reasons. Not sure what you’re trying to say
This video could have been 2 minutes long and never answered what to do if the babies aren't cared for by the mother.
