    Around 1996 I filmed the 920 tonne catalytic converter from Williamstown docks to the Mobil Altona refinery move.
    Pity it was on Sony Hi 8 that has started chewing tapes up so I can't transfer the vision to something more reliable.
    Ever come across vision of that move?

      Around the time I moved to Melbourne so it's not something I'm aware of.

    It’s weird living in Australia I never usually see places in video from my neighborhood, and like this big serious thing was so close to me at some point and I knew nothing about it

    hi that video was awesome quick question that unmark car that was blocking the road on the nepean hwy was it VicRoads or vicpol highway patrol.

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably Vicpol as Vicroads have their orange flashing lights and marked cars.

    How come some cars have purple lights?

    • @Schony747
      @Schony747  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually a Vicroads pilot. Those cars have purple lights.

      Vicroads heavy vehicle enforcement has magenta and green lights. These days they are no longer Vicroads it's National Heavy Vehicle Regulator Compliance instead.

      @@xr88yu yep and they are covered by the same rules as red an blue lights so you need to pass them at 40kph.

    It maybe heavy but other than the trailers, it didn't look big , so i never bothered going, i dont get the excitement.
    I'd rather see the Viaduct Beams cruising along eastlink

      Schony747 The first scene you shot I was to the left at the bus stop. I was pretty close to the truck as in if I stretched my arm out far enough ( not implying that I would ) I could probably touch the wheels. I actually live close to that intersection. Also do you still work as a tram driver?

    Forty years ago, in 1977, this move would have been handled by the heavy haulage division of Fleetxpress. Around then they imported a mega-heavy haul trailer from Commeto of Italy worth - I think - $2.5 million at the time, principally for heavy transformer haulage to the Latrobe Valley power stations (for which work they held the contract at the time). It was assembled in their Bertie Street, Port Melbourne yard right outside our offices on the first floor.

      +Geoff Barry That's about right. I don't know much about it but they said this backup generator was from the 80s so I suppose the original would have been delivered in the 70s.
