      @@australiantruckerrod1070 Quick question. I'm an American trucker who is (possibly) considering a move to Australia to be closer to a friend. How difficult would it be for me to find work in my profession? Will companies over there even hire a foreign gear jammer? Just curious if you know, thanks.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Kyle. You would have no trouble finding work if you have driving experience. Changing your licence is easy, just need to do a driving test to change to the equivalent Australian licence. There are driving schools that can help with that. The visa to come to Australia would be the hardest part.

    How do you find the automatic transmissions in these trucks? I keep hearing they are getting better and better compared to earlier models when they were first coming out.
    Also you should invest in a Truck GPS. Garmin do amazing ones with tonnes of great reviews. cant go wrong then.

      I find the autos are good, but that's just my opinion, I do find them annoying in reverse, not as easy to get going, less control. Sometimes can have trouble finding gears when starting on hills.

    Mate that road is like a freeway these days back in the late 50s early 60s Mt Slide as it is today didn't exist you had to go out Steeles Creek rd and most of it was dirt even the Midland Hwy was dirt from Maindample to Benalla I grew up in Lilydale and I've been driving trucks for 52 years

      Hi George
      52 years. Can't even imagine, I've only been at it about 27, you may know Richie worked for Bunkers for a long time he was 50 years last time I saw him.
      I'm sure you have seen some changes some good some bad. New breed of driver now, think the oldest truck I've driven is the 1418 Benz, I loved driving the old girl. And a 68 inter ridged. Do like the European trucks, just getting soft now. Was never a fast with tarps but would take 5 hrs now with a sleep in between.
      Have a good day.

      @@healtytips4408. The best idea is to look up the Australian Immigration website. If you have any family here may make it easier. Have you thought about Canada, they have some work visas for truck drivers, and some companies sponsor foreign workers. Just have to live in a regional area.
