Dany had a very bad motorcycle accident before I met him. He was a gentle giant who never complained and he passed not more than a couple of months after finishing the calade. A great man in his way. Sincerely, Richard
Those two stone cutting tools. Phenomenal stuff. I intend to make something similar for sandstone one day. Hopefully I won't 're so old and decrepit that I won't be able to swing them. Dany was, and remains an inspiration. Thanks for posting👍
Fewer artisans by the day. Finding good stone masons is becoming real rare. Specially those who share passion for their art. RIP for him. This video becomes a legacy of is work. ;-) Cheers
Wow. I'm impressed and interested. How long does it take to become a stone mason? I've studied courses in Geology and know where to find minerals and how to extract them. I'm thinking of buying a piece of land and building a home with all the rocks from the land.
Traditional stone mason apprenticeship takes 7 to eleven years. Unlike the 4 year apprenticeship for being a bricklayer stone masonry takes a lot longer to learn because there’s way more to learn.
jbench2 I do quite a bit of split granite stonework in Indiana. Granite is totally different than most stone you hafta read the stone and split it with the grain.
Well, I don't understand. What does being in the trades have to do with understanding that comment? Is it simply that one can never know anything, and that proclaiming that one does shows inexperience?
Amazing.....the artisan said.....while he works he thinks about the people who will live in the house..... shouldn't all craftsman or artisans do the same? The last craftsman I had refinishing my hardwood floors couldn't make a pimple on this guy's backside.

Il traduttore non chiarisce bene il significato delle tue parole...
Fantastic...an amazing home built by a true artisan! Much respect from England!
I would loved to have met Dany and spent time with him-could learn so much from him.
"The most important thing is to do good work in a beautiful place." What a master!
This is a true inspiration to me as an apprentice. Thanks for the upload.

He was a true craftsman who took pride in his work there's not many like him.
Oh yes there are and they get paid more than most people sitting in cubicles...I know...I pay them!!!
👍👍

Thank you so much. This Video is great! I hope this will never become
a lost art as consequence to humanities feverish pursuit of
technology.
Absolutely amazing
Thank you. He was a marvellous man. Richard.
Is he dead?
You should come to El Paso,Texas theres still a lot of stonemasons here. Myself included
Truly was! Would you be aware if he had written a "how to guide" on doing his style of work ..?
Makes my heart race. I wish I could take my masonry to that level
Very inspiring video. I'm sorry to hear Dany passed away. Where can I see the remaining parts for this video?

Beautiful - in my next life i want to be a stone mason!
Go for it!
This could have been a 10 hour documentary and I wouldn’t have minded at all.
Wow. I'm impressed and interested.

Did you buy the land and build the stone house?

Oh how lovely.
Very hard work, may he Rest In Peace.
This guy is clearly a expert working with stone , do you see any eye glasses or gloves ??? You don’t need them if you know what you are doing
Can you do the same with black granite I like to see how efficient the tool is
Jose Molina Granite will be too hard for these techniques.
God Bless Danny
where exactly is this place?
You can learn how to build from stone in a relatively short time, it takes some time to become even a journeyman stone mason however.
ในพื้นที่ขนาด 1000 ตารางกิโลเมตรหรือชายคนนี้แค่คนเดียวตามหาใครไม่เจอเขาก็ต้องสร้างบ้าน
How was Danny when he passed away
I am told the great man died on his motorbike, poor man. Richard
I would love to see it in French as well

Look into the book "The Art of the Stonemason" by Ian Cramb.
Was sagt denn Dany, der master stone

@@mammoth9119 I see, Richard, what I was pointing to
is this kind of masonery in saqsayhuaman.
cuscotransfers.com/cusco-4-ruins-tour/saqsayhuaman/.
Could you explain it to me, a simple highschool student?
I've never seen a stone cut like that before. I would think to worry about its strength.

You would be working a wee bit harder than that when you working fine Scottish granite! There is no rubbing it with a rasp to shape it!
Damn- You look like a wartorn scottish battle knight. May he who dares you eat your cleaver!
Everything is a wee bit tougher in Scotland. Isnae a place for softies.
AND MY AXE!

Butter stone so soft.
To be honest that stone is like butter , do that with granite and I'll be impressed.
No carbide tools needed!!! Only skill!
