    He carries so much weight in his upper range so flawlessly
    My baritone voice has a lot of weight, so I can support head voice up to C6 (on a good day, I might can squeeze a D6 out, but the Eb6 in this song would definitely have to come from my whistle register.
    The sad thing is that my voice couldn’t touch his vocal agility

      Omg!!!
      Thanks for the reply!
      No matter if you’re no longer singing Eb’s, any male that can support in the 6th octave is pretty rare!

    Glad to see this online again! I remember it from several years ago. Stunning voice, man. I really wanted you to go to the high A-flat at the end, and it sounded like you were about to but the pianist ended the song. Question: can you still sing this?

    I must have listened to this 20 times since finding it yesterday. I tear up pretty easily at beautiful performances but CJ takes the cake. Incredible vocal range and the robotics are comically understated. His parents must have been so proud of this. I will listen forever. Love Offenbach, love all his operas and love CJ. 2007? Where is he now? Hopefully using his prodigious vocal talents somewhere.

    From what little I can glean online, this was a voice-class recital and CJ was 15 at the time. The are many online versions of The Doll Song sung by women, some are arguably better. But this young man's brave, fledgling debut is priceless. As was said below, glad to see it is back online. I would never have otherwise known what I had missed. Where was this done? What has CJ gone on to do?

      He is now a tenor working in Europe :-) My countertenor days are over, but I save it for a party trick!

    The pianist has absolutely no feel for the music.
    I wish I could play by notes like this pianist was doing, but I wouldn’t want to give up my natural ear for music to be able to do so

    He is a tenor, right?

    • @henriboisseux4864
      @henriboisseux4864 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Absolutely not
      He is singing in head voice, so he's a male soprano (not he countertenor because he's not been voice break yet).
