    Today I will be showing you how to base coat your paper beads the super easy way, how to string them for glazing, and glazing your beads using Vibrance Paper Bead Glaze by Janice Mae. As you can see we are still learning how to use our new camcorder. My son is helping and will learn how and when to use the zoom and not move the camera, we don't want to make anyone sea sick.

    Thanks so much for making this video, Dee! It is great for those of us following your prior instructions to see where your method has changed, so we can get the great results you do! Great job! Your son did really well with the camera, I didn't find the camera work distracting or bothersome at all. He did very well getting the close shots so I really understood what to do. Thanks to you both!

      Thank you Carrie I will tell him when he wakes up! My methods have changed a bit over time, and whenever I find a way that works better, faster or saves product I would love to share them with everyone. I'm so happy to finally have a camcorder that allows me to make good quality videos.

    Hello! Did you know that the Vibrance is nothing but floor varnish? I was getting my floor done by the Maintenance crew in the Apts where i live and i just received my bottle of vibrance 2 days before, well when they finished the floor they left behind a half gallon of the floor varnish, well i opened it, looks like the stuff i just ordered and it had the same smell as the vibrance. I had some raw paper beads and i tested it out. low and behold it was the same. saved me lots of money.

    Excellent video. I always get the puddling on the bottom of my beads. I did like you did using fishing line. I stand there for awhile to see if there are any drips but still get puddeling. Guess I need to watch it longer?

    Hi Paper bead is my new found hobby. I'm living in India, planning to purchase vibrance through etsy, before that I would like to know "will the beads stick to each other when they are in fishing line,after dipping in vibrance?" your reply is much appreciated.

    Hi again, I just would like to know where you get the wood sticks in the different sizes?? I have seen skewers at Walmart but where would I get them for the different size beads?? I don't have craft stores around so would have to order on line...Trying to find the Mod Podge Hard Coat right now...I am really anxious to make something with my beads, will you ever make a video on how to do that and what supplies are needed when making jewelry....
    Thanks so much

    So I'm assuming you let the mod podge dry fully before you move on to glazing? And how long will it take the glaze to dry, and do you only do one layer or do you find that repeating the process makes the bead that much more durable?

    • @ThePaperPassion

      No, Shianne I always use it straight from the bottle. You want it to be a thick coat so it fills in the ridges and changes the surface from porous to smooth.

    have you ever used embossing powder and ink ? i saw this technique on another video and the beads looked like glass, and was curious if applying vibrance was a better method ?

    • @gailneedham9930
      @gailneedham9930 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      K P I have used what you are talking about more than the technique shown. I will work this way shown when possible because the other way dulls easier, especially if near any heat, the finish kind of melts. That has been my experience.

    I have watched your video on putting beads on fishing line, do you usually put a seed bead in between each bead that you put on so they do not stick together??

    • @ThePaperPassion
      @ThePaperPassion  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Judy, I only use a seed bead in between each bead if they have flat ends like a tube bead. The other beads might stick together a bit but, can easily be cracked apart. Rotating the ends you hang them by does help prevent sticking. Make sure you crack them apart in between dips.

    Why do you prefer the hard coat over the gloss mod podge?

    • @deerick1684
      @deerick1684 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use the gloss mod podge the beads will never cure fully hard. If you store them and they are touching each other the gloss mod podge can cause the beads to stick together. I have had many finished jewelry projects ruined because the beads stuck to each other. I have never had this problem when using Hard Coat,

  • @craftycrafter1960
    @craftycrafter1960 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would never use mod podge as a final coat as it becomes sticky, my last coat is a varnish

    • @Patcrochets
      @Patcrochets 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not all Mod Podge variates dry sticky and it will also depend on the humidity of the area where you live.
