That's sure a great wheelchair. I'm gonna start using a electric wheelchair pretty soon, cause I have flat feet & it helps me carry stuff, cause I have Cerebral Palsy. When I have my AFO braces on, the arches get really achy. I've helped people like you that can't move their hands very well. 😊

Absolutely amazing,... I'm just in a wheelchair and feel lucky I can do with that. That chair would be an absolute godsend if I were in the position to need it. I just love technology. I'm very happy for you and your family. Dealing with this sort of situation is very much a family affair.

      @Zaphod7835 4 ปีที่แล้ว

You do need it... unless you don't think quality of life is important. The health argument for staying in a manual is probably valid... but the difference in quality of life it makes being able to move AND hold on to things is priceless though, not to mention lawns are suddenly no big deal you're hands aren't constantly disgusting your shoulders will last a few extra years... need I go on?
Exercise in on gym equipment like everybody else, get an arm ergonometer.
Unless you have used a powerchair you truly have no idea how much independence and freedom it will restore for you.
The reason it's drilled into docs and patients that they need to avoid a power chair at all cost is to save your insurance company money... that's the truth. Get a powerchair and set yourself up to drive from it, you'll wish you'd done it sooner, trust me.

I see you guys live around the Toledo area. We live in Norwalk. My boy and I were just watching your boy with his new chair. My son has CP and has a C300 right now but we just got approved for a F3. We tried for the F5 but got denied through our insurance. Great demo!

Just came to this video because I got mine about a month ago and still not familiar with all the functions mine pretty much does everything your son demonstrated but it doesn’t stand because I can’t my body can’t bear the weight but he does have everything else at Sam’s for that feature and the feature where he goes to complete flat position and the legs raising up mine doesn’t do any of that really cool stuff which I thought it was going to come withAnyway great demo best wishes

My entire 1st floor in my house has marks, bumps and scratches from me learning to drive my power chair around and trying to reach things! I am considering this new chair the F3. After seeing the stand up option in action I am wondering if the F5 would be a better choice for me down the road. My current chair tilts, raises and the legs will allow me to stretch out but being able to stand would be amazing! I am wondering if this helps with pressure sores too? Self esteem? I also work to remain independent. I go grocery shopping alone and I am always seeking out someone in the store to reach things for me because my chair is VERY slow to rise up and it barely if at all will move while in the raised position. I pull my cart along with my left hand and rive with my right and my service dog sits on my lap. I guess the only thing I am wondering is since you are standing, where do you put the stuff you pick up (i.e. the can of chips or dishes or whatever has to be held in your hand?)? I have a strong tremor so holding stuff is not easy. Also, I tend to stuff things, like my water bottle, in between my hip and my chair arm right now. Where/how do you keep things with you?Any help with these questions would be most appreciated!!Mary

These chairs have several different detachable trays. Most are lexan and have small wooden molding to keep things from sliding off. Carrying stuff is always limited and sliding off.
I think for the dog and some shopping a bit of a wire basket could be made to fit into the tray receivers.

Can you attach a shopping bag somewhere? I like the cotton mesh bags that stretch to accommodate more than one would think. The cashier will empty your bag and refill it. 😃🙂🙃

Connor I want to wish you all the luck in the world with your new power wheelchair, now you could just about stand when you want to get something that's high and even cook an omelet. with that's SPECIAL option where the wheelchair takes you into a standing position. How I wish I had that.
. Because, I know how difficult being handicapped and how hard it is to reach something....
Now that problem it's no longer there for you.
    I ........
CONNER GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW PERMOBILE POWER WHEELCHAIR.
    AND CONNOR
    GOD BLESS TO YOU......
    AND, YOUR FAMILY........

Wow!. I believe we have one of these on order, as my husband has a Parkinson's-like disease, called Corticobasal Syndrome/Degeneration. This will make a huge difference for him, since he can no longer walk at all, we only transfer from recliner to commode to chair to recliner, etc. We expect delivery to take 3-4 months, and we cannot wait!

My mother needs this so bad! She’s paralyzed on the right side of her body and cannot even sit up on her own let alone stand or walk. Medicare only gave us a regular wheelchair which does nothing for her independence since she can not operate it with only one arm. I’m definitely about to google this to see how much of our souls we need to sell to get one. Thanks for the video and good luck to your handsome young man there.

Medicare does not cover the M5 or the F5 as they are categorized as Group 4 chairs. The M3 and the F3 are Group 3 chairs and Medicare will cover these. The bases of the M5 and the F5 are larger and longer. This is something to remember as you choose which power wheelchair because extra width and length can make it impossible to make turns into rooms & doorways where you live. Also not to be missed is that there are differences in the mid-wheel drive and front wheel drive models (on how they turn as well as length with the M3 vs F3) which can make it impossible to get into certain locations. It's really important that you do your homework into what will actually fit into your living space and to bring this up with the wheelchair person from the company getting your chair ordered. If they brush this off or any other of your questions and concerns, there are other providers out there that will allow you to be involved and understand every part of wheelchair choice and the pieces you need and want. You don't want to have a chair you cannot use, or that does not meet your needs.
Medicare does NOT cover the elevating feature nor anterior tilt, period. So if you want/need these features, prepare to pay for them out of pocket. Medicare will cover tilt/recline/elevating leg rests IF medically necessary.
The chair in this video has a knee block and the special VS elevating leg-rests. These two pieces are needed to facilitate 20 degrees of anterior tilt and the standing feature. The VS leg-rests are tougher (there's an additional actuator inside the chair) and stronger. They have to be as this allows them to be weight bearing. They also move up and down. By up and down, I mean they will go clear down to the floor and back up.
It's important to note that if you would like to have the elevating feature and 20 degrees of anterior tilt, say on the M3, you will need to pay for the knee block and the VS leg-rests. Of course this will not give you the standing feature, but with this degree of anterior tilt, you must have something that is going to keep you from sliding out of your chair as well as well as leg-rests with the strength to hold the weight of the person. However, if you are getting say the M3, and you want the elevating feature with only need 10 degrees of tilt...you do not need the knee block or the stronger VS leg-rests.
Finding prices for these chairs is not something you will find on the manufacturer's website. You will have to discuss the price of the chair and additional options you want that are not covered with the person from the company you are ordering your chair. Unfortunately, prices are not listed where anyone browsing can look up. While a person may come across a used model with a price tag, this just isn't the typical practice for a getting a new custom wheelchair that fits you and your specific needs. And while this option too does not give you the standing feature, by not needing those two expensive pieces, you can have elevation and some anterior tilt for a much cheaper cost. But all of these scenarios (while based on my own experience) may be priced differently by certain providers.
Before I finish, I wanted to make an important note. And that is that certain Medicaid coverage will pay for a back up wheelchair at 100%. So ask questions about coverage! You can only be told no, and if you never ask you won't ever have the chance to be told yes.

@@shaneluke346 is there a problem, sir? Why did you reply to this comment with such unrelated aggression? But to reply to you, I saw his legs raise. You can see his feet being pushed up. The strap doesn't prevent them from going up, they just secure them from his shin area to stay against the leg rest.

I use a power wheelchair also and I'm looking to purchase a new one. Have you ever tried to use a urinal in a public restroom and this tanning position with this chair? I ask this because when you go to a lot of public events the accessible restroom is often occupied.

    • @chanswheelsforlegs2877
      @chanswheelsforlegs2877 5 ปีที่แล้ว

I hear you brother! and 9 out of 10 cases it will be occupied by an Able bodied lazy person. I have wondered about that using a urinal as well. I have tried the standing position on this chair at a product demo event and based on my experience and by looking at this video as you can see the standing position is not exactly 90 degrees, so it is at an angle. Even if some one is able to flip up those intruding armrests, and reach over the chest holder, its going to be a challenge to get both hands to where it is needed. Even if you get past that, there is a chance of getting the urine on the shoes, leg rests, pants etc.

I can't wait 'till I get mine! If you don't mind me asking, what healthcare provider purchased the wheelchair for your son? I have had two Permobil Vertical Standers. Medicare denied them both when we started the processes with my vender. Fortunately CHampVA (health care coverage for veteran beneficiaries) has purchased my last two Permobil's . When my C500 VS died earlier this year, we started the replacement process. Medicare being my primary insurance denied it, and surprisingly ChampVA as well (but we appealing this denial through my Congressional Representative). So now as a young-adult with CP I have been without powered mobility for 6 months, kinda detouring my life. Nice videographer skills by the way!

Sadly insurance doesn't see rising as a cardiac & paralysis benefit. The extra bit is more independence which means less help & less falls from reaching .
I tested a older model years ago. It wasn't designed well. A c4 quadriplegic feels stimulus from those straps . Knees especially . The straps aren't mindful of those without support & a other hand usable .. the quadriplegic hands.
If we can't transfer & not consider where these safety features must go & be able to re attach them.. it simply makes us dependant on others.
We don't all have accessible homes, live with parents , spouses .. family.
We need people to understand our needs are without support.
I love the new joystick design the f3 has. I just have doubts .. my c300 had many joystick replacements , controller , batteries & a actuator that always caught.. in use it would grind & now metal flakes off.
My seat wasn't assembled flat ...sides to center piece & even my awesome honeycomb cushion has shown the marks & now bows in the center. I'm small btw.
My head piece caught on the seat belt as I entered my Chrysler entervan .. handles take a hold & I am stuck.
I really wish a locking dervice bolt was a part of our chairs. Vs needing others to put it in place.
We need to lock into floor devices ...in our vehicles. 300 lb chair can damage anyone if the brakes are used lol.. or hit.
We also need stimulate to make a honey comb back rest .. it just makes sense to consider our spine. I can't pump up a roho & have their collections in seats lol.
Someday.. I hope to see the old airline armrest used on the left. So we can have a device or partial table come up the center & tuck right back in.. like a power window .. using that space under the nice permobil arm rest.
Please turn our rear handles to avoid taking racks in stores .. where they shouldn't be.
The rear wheels need to consider turning radius .. I hit my van interior at the entry , as I turn. We can't control those wheels.
Please, put clothing guards by the front wheels . Gals wear skirts & they do get dirty & stuck .. torn in the wheel area. Hip plates should make this a easy fix. .
I love my Harley Davidson cup holder. It's lasted 7 years & people leaning where they shouldn't.
Make a deal with the mfg.. I paid $35 .. use is incredible. Mine is mounted on the front of the left arm rest. I transfer easily .. sit to stand with the wc features & scoot forward .. pivot & sit. I even saved on van seats .. using memory 1 to slide back to my wheel & 2 to go to my wc.. wc is locked in between the 2 front seats . I use the head rest & passenger arm rest to transfer. My van seat goes up on sides ..keeping me centered. Cheaper vs 10k more for turning van seats . The c300 fit perfectly .
Footplates appear to be improved. I had to buy new ones due to ther bolt grinding a hole .. lefty loose & righty tighty thing. 1 footplates was always too tight.
Be mindful of wc places switching parts .. if they don't assemble your wc right .. you will go through their guessing method ...verify billing .
I finally have a great wc place .. a certified tech came out . My actuator popped as I tried to go back.. it was nice .. the tech knew what it was. I was told new technology allows us to hook up to a tech when we get a error code . I got plenty & red flashing buttons .
    They can now diagnose the
    problems without a visit.
Mom in this video.. good job...
    Your son seems well supported..
Have a great year. ❤thanks for sharing.

    • @NvikIngsN
      @NvikIngsN 8 ปีที่แล้ว

+Heather Graham Unless you have stellar Insurance to help pay for it or part of it, I think you're looking at a cost a minimum of $50,000 and up for the F5. The F3 is cheaper, a little smaller in terms of overall width and length and cannot be used as a stander. The reason the F5 is more sturdy and has thicker parts on the frame is it needs to be in order to safely be riding while standing. The F3 has all of the other features though.

+NvikIngsN can you please give a link where i can check prices. I google alot and didnt find any website where i can compare prices of different models of Permobil. Im from Ukraine, and here's no distribution of Permobil. I wanna order some used chair from EU, and i need to compare prices and possible features (i need lift on maximum height as possible. and adjustable backrest to atleast 170 degree), also if i undertand right there is no feature with removable armrest (i need it for move from chair to bed and back. So i need chair with this functions and cheaper as it possible. I need to find out which model will be more affordable. thank you.

    • @NvikIngsN

+Kentavr100 Those are some hard questions. Lots of places sell power chairs, but don't really try to compete by advertising prices. They mostly consider what Insurance or medacare will pay for them in the USA. Power Chairs are crazy expensive. I suppose since you live in the Ukraine websites differ. If I go to Permobil's website it loads the American version. I think they are headquartered in Sweden, but have plants in different Countries. Most chairs including this one have armrests that flip backward out of your way to transfer. You should be able to go to Permobil.com and choose a Country to look at. Not all of them have the F3 available. The F3 is also super expensive. I wish I could help more. If you can get to permobils website they should have forms that list the prices of every feature.
Other manufactures I looked at were "Invacare" "Pride Mobility" and "Quickie" The other problem is these chairs break down and getting replacement parts could be hard. I'm not sure who would even service a chair in Ukraine. I'm not sure what to do. I always think I'm lucky to live here and wish all Countries had services to people with disabilities. I wish you luck. It might be worth a try to even call these places and ask them if they have any information to help out. Probably easier said then done though.

I just got my F3 and I love it despite it being a downgrade, my first two Permobils were standers (Medicare declined it and my secondary insurance told me that my last stander was an "unauthorized purchase"). The closest thing I could get to a semi-standing function was the optional 30˚ anterior seat tilt, but Permobil does include the chest bar and knee block just like on the standers. I am a c6-c7 quad.

I got mine 3yrs ago. They wanted 12k out of pocket to add the up/down feature but I can't afford that so I said no. Regretting it now cuz the battery is dead. My new insurance doesn't cover the company I got it from. I can't find someone who is covered by them to fix it. My dad was gonna fix it but u need the up/down feature to get to the battery.

    • @lozzii1917

There's several types of Permobile it also depends on the add ons and batteries which are 55 or 70amp or something like that the batteries alone weigh up to 5 stone then you have the weight of the frame and add ons and the actual person using the chair. Permobile costs typically in region of 6 grand to 28 grand wheelchairs manual or power are utter total rubbish there not really built to suit oneself needs hence why people built there own from spare parts and things with help of course from friends and or relatives that are experienced engineers, electrician etc.
In the 21 years of using Wheelchair half that a powerchair I'm extremely very disappointed in what's on offer and how these places expect the special needs to come up with this sort of money do they think we are secret millionaires or billionaires on the sly wishful thinking any how I'm still yet to find one suitable for my complex special needs I've been estimated between 3 and half and 5 grand to have the sort of rehabilitation wheelchair I need the problems with these chairs if you're out on your own and you break down and or run out juice you're snookered because due to the horrendous amount weight of the chair turning breaks off to turn it to manual so it can be pushed manually is absolutely totally out the question for the person or carer or guardian with you seriously risks doing themselves sever injury or something if it's basic powerchair same as manual just with added control and batteries it's much more easier but defiantly not for rehab chair light weight manual or power chairs don't exist that's just click bait to lie and lure you in to buy it greedy bastard's excuse my language. There's no such thing as breakdown cover either not in the UK what is available is by appointment only which can take several days even weeks to get the specialist engineer out its diabolical.
There's a something called the mobility scheme which I will not use them as there basically loan sharks for the special needs the extremely very very extortionate high interest rate is enough to make your eyes water and curse like no other as you are basically signing a contract every 3 years you return the car or powerchair back then your given another one every 3 years it's on continuous loop over and over and over again it's repetive how much of your mobility allowance they take from your DLA or PIP they take off you depends on item on loan but typically a basic power wheelchair is a grand outright on the scheme it's roughly 2 and half grand back for rehabilitation powerchair wheelchair typically as I mentioned all the details above can cost anything between 3 to 30 grand but let's just go for basic powerchair at 3 grand on the scheme it's 6 and half grand chancers I'd much rather save up which I do anyway that way it makes me feel really good that I saved for it I can pimp it up how I like, I can customise/personalised it to how I want it, I can even if I wanted to have wheel trims and frame areas spray painted to how I want if I saved up enough some chairs have snazzy coloured wheel trims, frames areas, nuts and bolts and things I can even damage it not that I would but I know what I mean knowing I'm not going be reprimanded and charged if I had it on the scheme.
Finally before my wrist seriously cramps up in mortal agony any more that is in here in UK NHS can supply certain things for around the home i.e shower seat, toilet seat, perch stool if ambulant disabled, grab rails, transfer boards etc etc it's Occupational Therapist who comes to your home by your doctor and or social workers request referral for one to assess you at home but there's a massive huge waiting list even at the mobility centre for mobility aids like crutches, walker or manual wheelchair very very rare for anyone to get hospital bed and or powerchair on NHS I failed powerchair assessment due to my idiopathic seizures that I take quiet frequently and regulary as I'm seen as a danger to myself and others same rules as DVLA last I heard it's gone from 1 year to 3 years without losing conscious before being reasseced. What I cant get on NHS with the OT I use complete care shop, careco, NRS Nottingham, incontinence choice, Allanda and incontinence supermarket is where I get my nappies, dry wipes etc from, better life and for small rucksacks, plastic plates, water bottle with clip on sippy hose with one way valve that has clip for hanging on cot side or wheelchair etc I seriously highly recommend this hydration kit in 500ml or 1000ml cost around twenty pounds for full kit well worth it it also comes as sports bottle with out straw hose, bowls and beakers from mountain warehouse or any other camping shop and any cheap baby shops for fitted cot sheets to place over the wheelchair seats softer on bum as Captain seats on rehab chair are leather that catches and rubs on bottom causing sores I also use the baby shops for dishes and mugs and swaddle blanket or similar blankets and dribble bibs personally I don't care what design is on it if it keeps me snugg and warm and saves my tops being all slavered over so be it. If physically capable or your hoisted in your wheelchair a child's sleeping bag makes a awesome cosy foot muff for 3rd of the price of the real deal remember if never ever shopped online before register for there regular newsletter as brand new customer you get one of voucher to use most places online do it after that they email regular offers sorry for such very long reply just offering some hints and tips

I’m having some health issues with my joints, but we had a family trip planned for New York City. This th-cam.com/users/postUgkxuxJwamLFanm476LC5WPeTouyyU1GXomC was perfect! It’s lightweight enough that my friend could carry it up or down stairs when we needed to. (I can walk very short distances) It was comfortable for me to sit in, I would say if you’re super tall it might be a little cramped. I’m 5’1” and the foot rests were the perfect height. This may not be the best one for long term use, you get what you pay for, but for something that fits our budget that gives me accessibility while we deal with my health this was amazing.

Thank You For The Video On F5 Corpus Stander Chair
I am in a QM 710 that is not meeting my needs with the leg problems
with ademia it raises my legs only slightly , A P.T. told me my bed is
my only chice the chair will not do it.
I see their are chairs that do do it, but they cost more then what medicare
will pay for is my problem. My chair is for going around but useless for
my leg problem forcing me to be bed bound, I truly need this wheelchair
that medicare don't pay for. Does anyone know any places that pay for
this wheelchair for people not to be home bound or bed bound which is
a very goood ticket to a nursing home where 99% do not allow power
chairs and I simply would be bed ridden or left sitting in a tilted manual
I can't move . Thank You in Advance For Places Who Fund Group 4
Power Chairs F5 Corpus Stander Chair by Permobil
