Testing Radinn Electric Jetboard | Review and first experience

  • I bought the Radinn electric surfboard a couple of weeks ago as a new "watertoy" for our summer home just south of Oslo in Norway. I made this video to share my user experience. I am not a sports fanatic. I am just a family guy who wanted to buy an electric surfboard. The board is really fantastic and easy to use. This video shows unboxing and the first try as well as the following 3 days. I made this review since I wanted to share my experience on the electric jetboard.

    Hi Jon. Great reviews and videos you've done. Thanks, and congratulations. I've looked at many different makes on-line, and the Radinn is my favorite, but like others here, I really can't afford one. There are many do-it-yourself videos, too, so I'd like to try a do-it-yourself, and model it on the Radinn. Would you be able to tell me any specifications, such as the battery voltage, diameter of the impeller jet, or anything like that ? Thanks, in advance, and enjoy !

    • @jonmrk6831
      @jonmrk6831  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      DIY won’t get you the same performance and feeling of the Radinn. To get it up to standards you might end up paying more and spending a lot of time.
      In stead of trying to build a replica why don’t you look for a used board? There might be some used boards for sale out there?

    • @rickc4336
      @rickc4336 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jon, thanks for your quick reply. I've tried looking for used Radinn boards, but I can't find one at all in my country (Canada), and haven't heard of anyone buying a new one here yet. Buying a new one (Freeride base model), with tax and shipping would cost me the equivalent of about 10,700 EUR. There are several do-it-yourself boards that would be "good enough" for me, and are reported to cost about 1/3 of a Radinn board. I simply wanted to start with the Radinn specs as my goal, knowing I'll fall short, but it should still be good enough. There's one DIY board that seems to exceed the performance of the Radinn, here: th-cam.com/video/BuYz4YYcX30/w-d-xo.html The most common DIY mistake seems to be that the first attempts try to make it with cheap or undersized components, and then they have to spend even more money to upsize or replace burned out components. By learning what Radinn uses, I'm hoping to size the jet and batteries properly the first time. So, is that a "no" to telling us here, some of the Radinn specifications ? Thanks.

    I imagine that this device and similar, because of the weight, are not the sort of things you'll be securing by cord loop to your ankle. So, safe use is "Millpond" aka flat-as-you-hat conditions only ?

      Its expensive but its a lot of technology going into this board. I am sure the pricing will come down over time. Personally I would much rather own this board than owning a jetski or a boat which I need to handle, transport, maintain and pay for storage. The board is just «plug and play» if you see the difference. I could wait for the board to become cheaper but I will become older. I’d rather play now in my early 50’s while I can if you know what I mean. I dont know your age but I hope you will find the budget for buying one at some time in your life. Its a lot of fun.
