The $1 junk Sony PlayStation 1 restoration - Vintage Console repair - ASMR

  • On my trip to find stuff to restore at the local junk market, I saw this PS1 console in this bad condition, I decided to restore it and give it a new chance to live again.
    PS1 Model: SCPH-7502
    SONY Playstation 1 SCPH-7502 Region Free PS1
    Region of Manufacture: JAPAN
    During the disassembly, I found the remains of a spider and a spider nest. It's very common I find bugs inside these old devices, I'm, not sure why, maybe they're dark and warm places.
    When I tested the console, I noticed the green power LED didn't light up. After opening the console, I replaced the capacitors with new ones. I also cleaned the boards with dust and isopropyl alcohol.
    I then washed the plastics in soapy water to remove all grime and grease in preparation for the next step which was to soak them in Cream Peroxide Developer 40 Volume and UV light for several days to remove the years of yellowing that has taken place, This process is also known as retr0brite.
    Thanks for checking out my video. If you want to see more of my content, Subscribe and hit the bell for notifications! Also sharing this with your friends helps me a ton!

      @@MichaelM28 I have watched a lot of restoration video's and after him cleaning the shell of the PS1, it doesn't have any scratches and dents on the shell either. Things like that should of had those on the shell, because that's what makes old consoles look old after being used for many years. Also he's putting in a copied disc of the game Crash Bandicoot and not a official PS1 game into the console.

      Wrong original ps1 had no analogs whatsoever. So we know that controller is not a slim controller. Its an old og fat ps1 controller, 2 the light is on but its very dim. You can observe this if you were to adjust your brightness on your device to the lowest settings and you will see a dim green. Not trying to say its not a fake but the observations are not correct but it is fishy how he cut off on the bootup sequence when he first fixed it.

    i used to love these type of videos but alot of fake crap has been surfacing in the past 1-2 yrs, example how'd rust get in so easily? was it waterlogged? if so wouldn't it be unrepairable?
    also you played it with a pirated cd, does this mean its been mod chipped? doesn't look like anything was soldered onto it for that to happen. Also without testing how did you know what was wrong to replace "X" issue? or you you just unsoldered everything and replaced all the capacitors etc?

    • @zetok45
      @zetok45 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This was a fake restoration. There were real parts like checking for continuity on the capacitors. The white wires were mod leads to bypass the security of burned disks. Sadly the green light was not on and he was using a different controller and system to play the ending shot. Fake video with real elements.

    Honestly it is hard to beleave that this PS one came back to live with a mainboard rusted like this one is. Even the housing seems not to be the same as at the beginning. Rust stains are normaly hardly to remove completely like you can see on that bracket. Why not make honest videos? I like your channel but I don't like to be fooled. Sorry mate but such videos are making me unsubscribe.

      You do know rusted boards depending on the type of damage can be repaired unless it's cracked then there's no point even northridgefix and repair this board and he specializes In board repair it's not that hard.

      You do realize it shows you the serial number on the back and they do match so the case is the same and the guy saying it doesn’t power on must not have watched close enough because in the close up it damn sure is on

    • @xXnxanatorXx
      @xXnxanatorXx ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@dansretrogamingandwrestling Yes the serial are the same, and it does power on that's 2 separate boards. The main issue was the Logic Board whether the data board sends power to the logic board which are the Capacitors that are dead, each chip the built in video chip and data chips require a certain charge whether it's a 3.5v to 12v. Those capacitor or caps for short was replaced did you also notice rusting? Even if he did leave the rust and clean the exterior parts and call it a day those rust will cause another short possible a fry to the board rendering it useless then what's the point. The fact that it's a restoration which means retaining a majority of the product that you are trying to repair. Let's use a motherboard for Pcs for an example there's rust and water damage on that board and a dead button cell you plug in the psu and press the power there's lights but no display or bios you take it apart and the battery on the board you can replace it and and call it a day put it back in the case plug it in it powers up next thing the board goes in smoke. Shoulda cleaned the rust and calcium deposit from the water damage. Rust is Iron Oxide which is conductive you leave that on your device is done for. You point out things that are noticeable but have you worked on them yourself have you tried to restore vintage items that's what he's doing so before you through some opinions around check your facts first.

    If the internals were rusting like that then there was water in there and it would be permanently broken unless you replaced everything which was not done, also the ps1 wasn't even on to play the game.
