I think when the number of videos decreases, the subscriptions decrease. I wouldn’t bother with shorts because you can’t use a lot of details in a short video. Keep up what you normally do. I do not look at anything other YT. And I watch lots of long version videos. And you can always speed through them. Do not quit. Push through, but keep long format!! Craft fairs can be VERY discouraging. I would spend your time on videos. Please Sasha don’t quit YT!!!! You are my favorite crafter on YT and I would miss you terribly. It is Christmas time which is great for crafting; don’t need much mojo. I will pray for you. Keep trying. Again do not concentrate on shorts!!

Dear Sasha, so sorry to hear of your struggles at this time. We all find ourselves in a dark place at times and it will pass.
As a previous commentator has said, please dont give up on TH-cam. I had a bad experience years ago with facebook, which was very upsetting, and now I dont use any of these other platforms.
You are a young Mum, with a family to cater for and its no wonder you have. "Hit a brick wall", with everything. I fully understand that and do pray you will allow yourself some time to chill out each day. Even if its only 15 minutes. Money is a necessity and I hear your distress over the figures but, you have to look after yourself as well as the children and your husband.
Its a blessing that you have the possibility of working with some of the big companies and I look forward to seeing what comes from that collaboration.
In the meantime, thank you for sharing with us and I will pray for The Lord's wisdom and clear direction as you work through this difficult period. Remember, 'this too shall pass'.
      God Bless you, Ginny

Oh Sasha … I fit your viewer profile completely! I was originally drawn into your videos by the ‘if you only have 10 minutes’ and would love to see more of these. I also loved the fact that you were not continually showing new things you had purchased and stuck to creative ideas using what beginner crafters would have in their stash. It is far too easy to be drawn into the shopping as opposed to the actual crafting - so videos showing project ideas but using different resources would help those on a tighter budget. Videos of about up to 15 minutes were perfect. Not all of us are on social media. Take care of yourself xx

I, personally, enjoy the longer videos. But, I'm one of those over 65 people. I have a suggestion for your next craft show. Maybe your daughter could open up one of the craft packs and be creating cards with it at your table, and it would encourage people to buy them for Christmas gifts. Seeing something in use is always better! And maybe she can have on display the cards she made from the kit. You could do the same if you have time in the slow moments of the craft fair! I hope you are able to make this work for you. I enjoy your videos and your crafty ideas. Wishing you the best of luck and a very Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I’ve watched you for years and love your regular videos! I occasionally watch shorts but, if I want to learn specifics I watch the longer videos. I too have ADD and I feel your pain. I spent weeks making things for a craft fair and NO-ONE showed up because the person who made the signs put the wrong date on it. Don’t beat yourself up; you’re so creative but everyone go through dry spots. The pressure sucks the creativity out of anyone. I’m praying for you and your business.

  • @Denise11Schultz
    @Denise11Schultz หลายเดือนก่อน +14

I love your videos as they are (and yes, I’m over 65 🤣), but I like shorts too.
•I’m really glad you shared this, and I understand why you need time to regroup.
•It seems some other creators just adapt a short with highlight moments and music, no voiceover, and a few subtitles.
•If you take the video at a higher resolution from a higher distance, near the ceiling from above, (and farther when from the front) this might work:
•you might be able to edit it, first cropped to landscape version and
•later edit it second, cropped to portrait version (with just the highlights) from the same footage, because you take it in high enough resolution.
•If I didn’t describe it well enough, please ask a more experienced editor to describe it better, because I know this method would work with the appropriate software.
•One of my favorite shorts creators, who also does longer videos, is Ardyth, maybe she has some suggestions.
•Also UT (and Etsy) have made some blunders in their recent policies that are really hurting creators and the viewers.
•Two I noticed are the policy that UT only rewards a creator for viewers who watch to the last second.
•And the intense requirement to get lots of viewer comments.
•Both those policies make the creators responsible for the personal viewing habits of thousands of viewers they don’t personally know, and it creates friction between the 3 parties, by requiring the creators to beg the viewers to adhere to the policies of the UT platform.
•Hey UT, Way to make me feel trapped and uncomfortable as a viewer! Rude and unkind, while creators and viewers are neither.
•I wonder if your sudden loss of viewers /subscribers might be because there was some sudden change to the policies or algo, not you at all.
•I’ve learned a lot about these types of platform management blunders at Brand Creators UT channel, which covers Etsy policies and blunders.
•Their videos are usually 90 minutes or more, argh! and I’ve occasionally contributed timestamps to the subject listed in the title and thumbnail, because who has 90 minutes to find it ?!
•But I learned from Brand Creators is that these platforms make Many Blunders of policy without either knowing or possibly caring, what the effect will be. There just is little understanding that there are 3 players: Platform, Creators, and Viewers, and they don’t really know how to grow (their main goal) without lurching through these absurd downturns. Argh. It is a Baby Industry, under 30 years old, and they need to learn, and stop dropping bricks on everyone else’s toes as they do it. 😖
•Good luck on your journey, and I hope you will find some helpful insight from Brand Creators (I don’t use Etsy myself, I just want to understand the marketplace) especially if you watch some of their “Alarming Policy Changes” videos.
•And Ardyth is a great inspiration for shorts, and a very kind person, maybe there is some help for you there too.
    • Also for selling your starter kits, I’ve seen other creators do a live, to sell kits, maybe you could reach out to Posh Paper Lady about how she started selling her kits ? I think your viewers are the most likely place to buy your kits.
•You did the right thing, to let us know what page you’re on. We all want things to go well for you, no matter how that looks.
    🙏💙✨

Oh Sasha, bless your heart. So sorry to hear you are having problems with YT. You are not alone though, many people I watch have had people unsubscribed for no reason and they remind us when watching to check that we are still subscribed. Who knows what YT is playing at. Please keep to the longer videos, I personally don't watch shorts and I don't do IG or FB anymore. I have found that YT are not notifying me a lot when new videos are put up and maybe that's the problem too, if people aren't aware that you've uploaded a video they think there aren't any. I didn't get notified of this one, just happened to come across it and I have the bell switched on. So happy that you will be working with Catherine Pooler, a definite feather in your cap. Sasha that is so sad. I feel so sorry for you. I don't like the shorts but then I'm 74 and I don't do social media. I do hope you keep going but that's something only you can decide.Sending you lots of hugs.

Hang in there Sasha, I'm not quite 65, and I love your videos. I watch shorts sometimes - they're a sampler to me and don't replace full-length videos. My preferred length is around 10 mins, purely because that's my concentration peak.

Sorry to hear about your recent struggles with TH-cam. I have heard other people complain about losing subscribers and I noticed that I wasn't getting notifications from certain TH-cam channels. Somehow I wasn't subscribed anymore but I never unsubscribed. So I've had to go back and subscribe to them again.
I've also noticed that several You Tubers have been mentioning to subscribe, hit the like button, comment and share every time they post a new video as they say it really helps to grow there channel.
I don't think your videos are that long. I don't mind shorts but a lot of times I can't figure out how they did something and it's kind of frustrating to me.
I do believe that having your subscribers leave comments is very important to growing your channel so I always try to leave a comment.
I hope some of this helps.
I really enjoy your videos and you always share great ideas and make fabulous cards.
    Good luck!❤

Heya! Hope you hang in there and make the small adjustments you need to do. I never watch the shorts, so hope you make the longer ones 😃
Remember that goodle and youtube just had a "delete inactive accounts" run. Hopefully that is why your numbers go down - and those people were not there anyway. Just more visible.
Wish you lots of luck on the craft fairs! And a happy holliday! 💜

Am 66 and love your videos. I will watch shorts but not as much as watching full videos. You are correct that retired people have more time so that may be part of it. You need to do what is best for you and your family. If you move on, you will be missed! Your videos always teach me something either new or a better way to do something. I had my first fair about a month ago and was very disheartened as I did not sell too much. I have taken a step back to re-evaluate whether I want to continue to try and sell my makes or just keep it as my personal passion. Life sends us curves as a learning. Yes it can be painful, but it is usually worth it.

Oh little love. Please don't give up darlin. Have saved many of your videos because they TEACH interesting things. I am a master artist and have many gifted abilities thanks to our Lord. But I take time for full length card videos because I am interested in what is being taught. All we creative sorts go through highs and lows darlin. I have learned that God never closes a door that He won't open a better one. Maybe He is leading you into new heights to your creativity. He has done it with me and I have always come out better than I started. Be blessed darlin. God, family and then everything else - when in this order all will work out well. Hugs & courage to you.

I don’t watch anything on instagram or shorts. I love old style TH-cam videos and that’s what I stick to.
