Snap on slip joints are the best, icons version has been comparable so far. Fixing to order the snap in 4.5 slip joint plier for edc as a companion to my .125 cobra and pliers wrench
Great video (Tony you ROCK)... thank for letting us (me) know the difference between the pliers- the different uses of each one the makers there are and there are good one's made in the different countries... and again not all of us know some of the simple and easy things about tools and videos like this are a huge help to us guys who are starting out and don't know what-why and things to look for and at and I never would have thought of buying sets but it cool to know that's a great way to go... Thanks again for the helping hints and information... Have a great day...
I've got a couple pair of Knipex Cobras the 6 and 10 inch ones and they are pretty useful. I like their needle nose pliers and they a first rate too. I use vice grips and fencing pliers a lot as well. My favorite pliers are my dad's old linesman pliers, they are 66 years old. I gave them a mirror finish, put some new Klein Koats on them and they still are great wire cutters. Those flush cutters are interesting. I've never seen any with a wire catcher. If they were bigger they'd be pretty handy. I hate having to pick up pieces of wire after I cut it.
Use my mini bolt cutters all the time. Cutting Romex staples. Cutting Steel strap banding on pallets. Cutting Exposed sharp ends of nails or screws protruding through wood
One of the few knipex I don’t own. Thank you for that idea of cutting romex staples and strap banding good idea. Those dedicated strap band cutters are crazy pricy off McMaster-Carr.
It’s all about the grip for me. I haven’t found a better cushion grip than Snap-on. Engineer/vamplier is right up there too. Then the grip/comfort of the knipex Cobra is amazing, I wish it was available on all their pliers.
Love durability and quality of my Knipex, like the history of ChannelLock and finally the value of Tekton! Might have to try the Fujiha - looks interesting. Thanks for the review and info TONY
Get the engineer NS-04 flush cutters on Amazon, they’re the original vampliers Japan brand. For $20 they are the best flush cut side cutters. They are insanely good.
FYI the Vampliers are significantly cheaper if purchased on Amazon under the Japanese Engineering brand. The only difference is the Japanese packaging and green handles.
i use a pair of lineman's pliers more then anything eles, i use the knipex insulated 10inch but i had klein's before that and i can do like 50% of my tasks with those pliers
Very similar to my 'go-to's' I'm surprised you did not include a Linesman plier in your mix? I guess my go to for grabbing something by the snout and yank on it is my Ares Flatnose (also sold rebranded as MacTools) If I want finesse, I go to the Knipex needle nose. To reach out and touch someone I go to the Crescent double jointed jobs. Cutting is Knipex Slip Joints--- kinda adverse to them, but the Tektons have been in the back of my mind. The ones I have I rarely use and I think are Husky crapola ones Screw extractors I have one of the Engineer brand ones who make Vampliers, --- their grips are awesome! (green instead of red) ant the polish is superb- should be mounted like a trophy! I gotta try some Fujiya though - hmmmm
Very nice thank you for sharing that. Ya I have a couple pairs of lineman pliers but rarely use them. And ya the vampliers are very nice haha. Ya the fujiya tools made in Japan are extremely clean as well 👍
I got a pair of 10 & 7 in Cobras to replace my Channellocks. They were great... they are great, but as I have been using them I have come across a few situations where I had to adjust the pliers with one hand while using the other hand to prevent water from spraying on electronic circuitry, or prevent an unwanted shower in chemical-treated chiller water. Those situations are hard to predict. Because of that, although the Cobras are nicer to use 90% of the time, the Channellock pliers are my go-to and the Cobras a the backup. I can depend on the Channellocks to be a pain in the butt, but dependable nonetheless. For long nose pliers, its hard to beat Klein. Also, Vampliers are made by a company called Engineer. The Engineer branded pliers are the same thing with a different colored grips, and they are often significantly cheaper if you can find them.
Hi,I just bought a set of pliers on Amazon but seems like they sent me used pliers,I would like to know how do I know when I'm buying real knipex or original knipex pliers because I don't know if they are sending me fake knipex that doesn't have bar code or looks like they haven been used and they have been returned, and i dont want to payaot for a used pliers ,i mean probably they are originale but they are used, how to identity if they are used or new,do you know how the box looks like when you buy a set of knipex pliers?
Lmao I'll be back. This video was recorded awhile ago. I'm still wearing the glasses until I get into the eye doctor. So you will see more videos like that haha 👍🤣
The made-in-Japan pliers brand Engineer (green handles) on Amazon is Vampire (Red) but 1/3 cheaper (same tools). The packaging for Vampire is in English. So what? I like the green better.
@@TonyTheTechnician In HS, I worked in the Sears tool dept. I saw many sockets and ratchets broken and returned. I do not remember pliers breaking and being replaced.
If I remember correctly it's a 4 year warranty under normal use. They also state it is unlikely a pair becomes broken or unusable so if it does happen just contact them for a replacement. I haven't had anyone I know break a pair or damage them. Definitely some good pliers. 👍
Side note, don’t buy the wiha flush cuts, garbage quality made in Vietnam. The Engineer flush cuts NS-04 are the best I’ve used for compact extremely sharp zip tie cutters that slice through any plastic.

The klein heavy duty side cutters are the best.
Love my Fujiya and knipex, thanks Tony

You can also use the pliers wrench as a makeshift seamers to straighten sheet metal out
Very true. Great point
