I can't see how Crown is constantly bagged on about the battery. What I hear is a battery that enhances the music being played, and blends well in the overall sound of this corps. Musically I find them pleasing and not overplaying with as many licks as they can squeeze into a performance. I find them a bit more musical than other lines that are full on technique oriented. Can they be cleaner? certainly. But that goes across the board for any Corps at this level. I want to enjoy the musicality of a corps in total, not just one section. They also shouldn't fade into the back ground either, but wail when they are a feature, and blend and enhance the music for overall effectiveness.
This is a quality brass line no doubt but I prefer just a little more trumpet volume on top. To me outdoor brass lines sound a lot clearer with just a touch of treble bias.
Interesting perspective! I’m a trumpet player turned contra when I marched drum corps. Quality volume on the soprano voice is great, if they avoid the laser sound when they are moving and stay blended with the rest of the line.
One of the best 3rd place shows along with kinetic noise

A Top 3 percussion section will do wonders for Crown's total scores.
Honestly, this is so true, it's sad. Crown would be the next BlueDevil legacy if they had a top 3 drumline every season.
@@CFLPN91 i think they're hiring the right people this season
they've rebuilt their guard program when graham, townsend, etc left they can do it to their percussion

@@pengua5069 you're right, my director had a clinic with one of their administration and she believes they're on their way to another championship!
