Paints:
Amsterdam Permanent Red Violet
Amsterdam Copper
Pebeo Iridescent Orange Yellow
This Little Piggy Mango Pigment Powder
Paints are mixed 1pt paint to 3 parts US Flood Floetrol.
Cloud Mix-
1pt Vallejo Pearl Medium or DecoArt Satin Enamels White
1pt Artist Loft Soft Body White
2pts US Flood Floetrol.
How to mix pigment:
Small amount of JoSonja Gloss Varnish and scoop of pigment powder to make a slurry. Let sit for a few hours. Add a spoonful or "glop" as I called it of gel medium to make a paint. Next add 2 to 3 parts US Flood Floetrol to make a fluid paint that matches the consistency of your other mixes.

Both are absolutely gorgeous Amy but I think I actually like the satin enamel one a tad better because more of your red violet showed up and it’s such a gorgeous color. Beautiful job! 🤗💕

You got really good results with the satin enamel! I’ve used it a few times but didn’t get big clouds like this (still waiting on the back order Vallejo, lol). Both are beautiful!
I think I like the SE one better. I have gotten ok results with Vellajo but lately more fails than anything. Maybe its the weather change here.
There is a definite learning curve to using vallejo. It doesnt work perfectly with all paints and layering a pigment by it dedinitly effects the cloud formation. Im team number 1 ...because I get the results with it that you got with the satin enamels! My vallejo clouds always have a 3 dimensionality that make me swoon. Also...the graininess that can come with the satin enamels I am not a fan of. Weather definitly makes a difference in the cloud development and with the vallejo mix ..you need to use more in the cup! ❤❤❤ Lovely reaults on both.
Thanks!!! Yes, I'm not a fan of the grainy look either! Sometimes its barely noticeable and then others, its smacks you in the face and leaves a chalk mark!

Have you tried using a mixture of the satin enamel and the pearl medium with a regular titanium white instead of AL soft Body?😊
Hmmmm probably. I test and test. I'm usually not a fan of AL soft body for anything but this technique.
Wow, big difference! I always used Satin enamel till I finally got my hands on a bottle of Vallejo. I do like the satin enamel one better. What I did was used both 1/2 Satin enamel and 1/2 Vallejo and I like the results. I love the way the clouds took on your orange colour! I still like both though, you picked out my favourite colours, so you couldn't have gone wrong either way!! I would love to know how you attached your paint sticks to your spinner though. I have everything to do it but was wondering how I could keep the paint sticks on? And the how did you keep your canvas from flying off? Everything seemed so sturdy! Great job on the paintings!!
Sorry if you are getting two replies from me!! I sent on last week but it's showing that I didn't reply. I covered my spinner in press and seal, attached my sticks with clear packing tape really well. The more I have used it, it's built up paint layers so that helps too. I do wipe it down after but it's impossible to remove all the paint. To keep my canvas from flying off, I use frog tape. You don't have to spin fast, so this works. My videos are sped up so it may look like I'm spinning the wheel with pat but I'm really not. Hope this helps!
Beautiful cloud pour Amy. Did you use pearl medium as well as decoart satin enamel in the second painting. Also, what quantities did you use. Regards Glenis
I only used the satin enamels in the second. No pearl. Let me try to find my notes and I'll get back to you on quantities.
The thing I don’t like about Vallejo is that it has a tendency to float over the other paints and dull the colors. Do you find that to be true for yourself? I really like them both though. Hard to choose.
It is so hard to choose and changes with every pour it seems! I actually get the float over look more with satin enamels. Based on comments on this video, most people like the satin enamels better.
