it is really fun bc not only can u learn but they have games that are Obviosly related to learning but its fun and u get to buy clouths for ur mini me and some furniture for ur castle
Thank You so much for this. I'm researching Miacademy. I have been homeschooling my twins for 4years, they're 4th grade now. We started with traditional books when younger, then Khan Academy and IXL. This review helped because i had tons of questions.
We just started using this and I like it better than T4L but I’m wondering if anyone has issues with it saying return to learning path and then not actually being done for the day with that subject. It will go all the way back to where you click on a lesson and make you go back in the lesson again. Wondering if you can make an in depth video showing doing a full lesson start to finish? I’m wondering what we’re doing wrong!
I have noticed that and I thought I may have mentioned it in this video actually because it did bother me. I'm wondering if it's to maybe give kids a break or a chance to work on something else before completing the lesson? I'm actually going to be working with this company soon so I'll try to find out!
Okay glad to know it isn’t just me. The only reason it bothers me is bc my son has adhd so it’s easier to do 1 subject at a time so I don’t want him jumping around 😆 and I’m not sitting with him the whole time to monitor, but hopefully we will get in a groove!
Could you discuss the read aloud option that I noticed on the screen under where you can turn off community options? I have a visually challenged child and wonder if this is an option to read aloud the info. Thanks
So the worksheets to be printed are optional? They answer the questions online. Thanks for this video… need to try something different with my ADHD child.
Hi Amanda, have you had any input about miacademy from an 8th grade perspective? 1st time homeschooling and my daughters in 8th grade and going to try mia since our friends do but there a little younger and cant find reviews for 8th grade. thanks in advance for any input - jannell
I did a review of Mia Prep for high school which you may find helpful. Honestly, everything is the same, there are just different courses obviously. But the whole setup is the same.
ok so i use miacademy for school videos can be boring at some points (im pretty sure it depends on grade and subject im pretty sure) BUT its better than actual school and can to it at anytime i would honestly rate it a 7.8/10 (this wont be the same for every grade though im not gonna say my grade cause i aint comfortable with that info) but use it if you wanna get your kid into a decent community (i rarely use it so i really dont know) then go with it
Do the free trial for one of your children first, that’s what I did. You have 30 days to return the purchase if you do not like it also! I took advantage of their sale and signed up for lifetime. Testing each of my kids for the next month on it to see if it works for them!
Is there a way to block the gaming world thing and videos? When we tried this a few years ago, the kids always ended up there and it was super distracting.
Hi new subscriber here. Can I employ Mia as a supplement with other textbooks, or would it be too much. I believe writing is important. Thanks for the reviews, very informative.
You can use Miacademy for only certain subjects if you want. You definitely don't have to do all of it! Some people just use online programs for math or science or whatever subject they want. You can also remove individual lessons if you need to.
This is an online homeschooling program, not a school. Think of it like a homeschool curriculum that you would buy, but instead of being in a textbook, it's all done online.
Yes you can customize the individual courses, although when you get to 9th grade, you would need mia prep which is separate from miacademy which only goes to 8th grade.
Hi Trish how did you like 8th miacademy for your daughter? im going to start my daughter 8th as well for 1st time homeschooling and cant find any reviews for 8th grade. appriciate any feedback.
Miacademy is not a school and therefore cannot be accredited. It's just an online homeschooling program, which is just a curriculum that is done online. They do offer an accredited version of their high school program, Mia Prep.
Depends on what you're looking for! Time 4 Learning seems to have longer lessons and repeats concepts a lot - my daughter thinks it's babyish. But some people might worry miacademy is too short and feel like they have to supplement it. For a kid who has trouble sitting through long lessons I think miacademy is great though.
Videos are way too simple, boring, with just a talking head in front of a colored background. I expected more from a company that claims to be "creative" and innovative. No they're not. I applied to help them as a published writer, videographer, musician, etc. but I think I was overqualified. They have potential but with their ideas about "applicants must answer exactly as we want them to or we don't want them" type of thinking, they will never be great. Rather than work for them, I will now compete with them. I am well-connected and have thousands of parents following my idea.
No, this is just an online homeschooling program. Keep in mind, accreditation isn't necessary for homeschooling. Only a school can be accredited. If you want your curriculum to come from an accredited school because it helps you trust the quality that's fine, but it's not required. If you're looking for an online school (not homeschool) there are lots of online private schools. I do have a video on my channel about some of those.
im in miacademy....... AND I LOVEEE IT i get to make so many new friends
That's great!!!

These reviews are just the best. Very informative.

I'm glad you found it helpful! I'm a twin mom too!
Can you do a video comparing MiAcademy and Time4Learning? They look very similar and can't decide which to use. Thanks.
That's a great idea!
Has there been a video posted comparing these two programs yet? That’s what I’m most interested in.
@@AmandaMelrose Have you posted a video comparing MiAcademy and T4L?
@@KTe8 not yet but it's on my list!
I used time4learning. For me it was hard to navigate and my son didn’t like it. He loves miacademy.
Thanks for reviewing this!
You are welcome!

According to the info here, this option offers your child the opportunity to hear the questions and answers read aloud. Hope this helps!

It's been a long time since I looked at their program, it's definitely time for an update!

Why do you have to buy a lifetime membership to get the family discount?? I have 3 boys but don’t know if the 1 month will be long enough. Ughh
Contact them as it does mention they offer discounts for families - it can't hurt to ask!

Also use code VIDEOSPECIAL to get an extra 35% off

You can remove access to the videos in the parent section under "my students". However, I am not sure if you can remove the game section entirely.
Are all assignments graded? All Im getting is assignments completed not a grade for the assignments
Would like to know if it's automatically graded as well
You can set your own grade percentage for your child, I don't believe it is automatic but their may be a setting I just haven't found yet :)
Are the biblical studies optional?
Yes, it's an optional add on course.

Is this public homeschooling? Also do kids take state tests?

Can you change levels based on subject? My daughter needs 4th grade for math but 8th grade for the rest

Is there an evaluation to see what is recommended for the child lik 4grdae math 6 grade language arts?
No, they don't, but you can review the scope and sequence for each course and grade level to see what's covered.
This is so true.
Is Miacademy accredited in the state of GA? I cant sewm to find this information anywhere!

Is there an app for this or is it strictly web based?
I don't know if there's an app, but the website should work on mobile devices.

Good luck in your new business! I agree the background is a bit simple. But I do like that they have real people in them rather than just cartoons.

Yes they are accredited
They are accrued by WASC
The website says it's $36/month not $29
Oh no! They must have raised their prices since I made this video. Unfortunately that's happening all over these days.
Im subbing to your channel.
Awesome, thank you!
