J'Oneal was a 20-10 guy with excellent defense. But even more impressive was that he did it against Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Webber, Rasheed Wallace, Pau Gasol, Chris Bosh, Amar'e Stoudemire, Elton Brand, Shareef Abdur Rahim, Kenyon Martin, etc. The golden era of NBA power forwards!

Jermaine O'Neal is one of those forgotten greats now. These kids don't know just how good he was. He was never better than TD or KG obviously but he was more versatile than Dirk and Amare. Was MVP level in 04 and would've been in that Finals had it not been for the Malice.

I remember the only time i did franchise mode(or whatever it was called back then) in nba live was in 2001-2002. I had a season going with the Pacers and the Clippers(because of Q and D Miles). Both teams were absolutely loaded with talent. Pacers had Oneal, Harrington, Bender, Croshere, T Best, BMiller, R Miller, R Mercer, J Rose, J Tinsley and Artest. Clippers had Dooling, Miles, Q Rich, Brand, Odom, Maggette, McGinnis, Olowakandi, Boykins and Piatkowski. I remember it being a nightmare trying to divide up the minutes, cuz i liked so many players on both teams and wanted to get them all good stats. Lol

We would love to hear their experience with the process and their journey from beginning to end because every journey was different and who better to interview these players then someone who went and followed the same footsteps and journey. Especially since it's a special fraternity

I am quite a bit older than you guys, for I've followed pro basketball since the ABA/NBA merger, and you both make me feel so proud every time I watch your various interviews. I find your channel to be the best on TH-cam, and I watch a lot of TH-cam.
I have watched EVERY SINGLE one of your podcasts on this channel, and I must say that this one w/Jermaine O'Neal is the best one that I've watched thus far, and that is saying a lot because ALL of your podcasts are fantastic. I'm not an emotional person, but this interview evoked practically every emotion possible.
Quentin... Darius... As much as I liked you guys coming out of high school and your subsequent careers, I find what you guys are doing now is even more incredible. I love how you humanize the players, asking such brilliant questions and engaging in such genuine discussions that make you all relatable. You guys are phenomenal.
I thank you for providing such meaningful content, and I will pray for your continued success.

I don’t go back quite as far as you but, remember the late70s/early 80s NBA. The first finals I recall was the Bullets over the SuperSonics in 7 games in ‘78. Please keep sharing your experiences and perspective as well.

This was a very deep conversation man. Talking about mental health and losing the love for the game and even black men going to therapy and the stigma behind that.
Powerful stuff, and as a black man who studied psychology it really gives meaning to put actions and thoughts. Therapy helps understand those triggers and why you feel the way that you do. I’d recommend therapy for a lot of people especially my black brothers and sisters.

I like that JO gave Darius Miles his flowers at 1:04:30 and included him in the discussion about being in the “straight out of high school” fraternity that had success-while JO obviously had a better career, D.Miles still played 9 years in the NBA and had an “it” factor straight out the gate. My favorite Player , Jermaine O’Neil versatile , ambidextrous, had a mid range shot . Rebounding , good leadership skills , Defense, went to 7 ALL STAR games. He should be a hall of famer. Idk why ppl forget about him

Shout out to JO, he definitely is a real one. I remember in South Carolina him playing against my highschool team. I was low-key rooting for JO because his first cousin was my best friend growing up. JO was by far an elite talent and embarrassed the competition.
I remember years later I was at the mall with his first cousin and we saw Jermaine with his crew and he asked us if we wanted anything. Dude was and has always been so humble. Respect for sho. 🙏🏿💯

"When you first got to the league, who was the first person to bust yo ass?"
What I notice about everyone's responses is that they start off by giving Q and D Miles their props for thriving in their post-NBA lives, and rightfully so. After they give props to the Knuckleheads, they give props to the players who "welcomed" them to the NBA.
    Game recognize game!

If he played in today's game he would give these dudes work. He had to Bang with the Big Dogs in that era where u didn't get alot of fouls called like today.
