- While waiting for the Wishes fireworks at Magic Kingdom, a severe thunderstorm rolled in. This was recorded on September 12th, 2010 and was as much fun to watch as the fireworks which were eventually shown after a 1 hour delay. Best strikes occur at 1:09, 2:26 and 3:13... each with a slo-mo replay!
August 2007, I was at Magic Kingdom waiting for the fireworks, and the exact same thing happened! Severe Thunderstorm thankfully just brushed past us, but it was an amazing lightning show!
Still one of my favourite memories of the trip! I love storms!!! :)
Yes... the fireworks were originally scheduled for 9pm, but the storm hit just a few minutes beforehand. Fortunately, the fireworks were not cancelled and were just delayed to 10pm once the storm had cleared... so basically got 2 light shows in one night! :)
I love how during all the lightning flashes (looked like you were around Tomorrrow Land at 1:09) they still have the goofy music playing.
It definitely was fun! I've only been to Orlando once for a 2 week holiday and you can pretty much expect afternoon storms on most days... on my trip, this one was by far the most severe!
No need to put fireworks, lightning already did that
2:27 sounds like a bomb going off
It does Chris and that’s what happens if the thunderstorm strikes if the temperature gets too hot
At least the lightning didn’t strike the building inside the magic kingdom
I can see the United States flag being blowing hard by the force of the wind
@TheOrlandoboy96 Thanks! The storm was slowly getting closer all night. About 10 minutes before the fireworks were due at 9pm, I thought that the lightning was getting way too close, so I moved undercover (although it was probably a false security!). The lightning was hitting all around us... probably the worst of the storm was about 10 to 20 minutes with a few very heavy downpours until about 9:30pm. Fireworks were delayed to just after 10pm so I guess I saw 2 great shows that night! :)
Last time my family went to Disney World (September 2017), we had lightening that lasted an hour. It delayed the Electrical parade, castle projection show, AND Wishes. We ended up watching the Electrical parade with the projection show going in the background (we were behind the castle). It actually ended up being a pretty cool experience. Especially considering it was the last year for all three shows, and one of our last days there.
Californians: Lets get inside!
Floridians: Where y'all goin'?
Draco Meteor we Californians dont wish to get wet
@douggraddevrystu09 I am not sure what is considered "unusually" hot in Orlando as I am from Australia, but I vaguely remember hearing on the news that it was close to record highs on some days during my trip, though I am not 100% sure if this day was one of them (probably was). There were a couple of days about 35C (95F) and very humid. Love storms and this made my night! :)
Oh my god that’s a one hell of a massive storm
This gives those who are vacationing from foreign countries an added experience since I know some of them have never witnessed a thunderstorm.
We were in WDW the same day (see video) except at Epcot and Port Orleans Resort and caught some of the lightning strikes over the Magic Kingdom as well as the ones closer to our resort. Interesting to see the same storm, on the same day, but from a different vantage point.
I was there that night! Like around the same spot you filmed it from I was constantly looking out for myself in the video lol. The storm was so cool to watch and seeing Wishes after waiting an hour for it start was amazing!! It was a great night, and it was my birthday too!! Thanks for posting this, I'm gonna be showing all my friends the storm I witnessed :)
Been in Kissimmee,Orlando 3 times.. Living in Norway.... Love those thunderstorms and I simply love those rollercoasters :D Juli 2015 is tour nr 4....
It's interesting to me once they see the bolt everyone gets off the street. Lightning can hit you from 10 miles away. It's why they shut down tall coasters when lightning is within a five mile radius
This Video Makes Me Like Disneyworld Better I'm SO LIVING IN ORLANDO FLORIDA WHEN I GROW UP! I LOVE MAGIC KINGDOM SO MUCH
Awesome Video. When I was in Disney World in august the weather was like this....
@sandcastlesinthesand Sorry... I must have cut out the parts of the video that you may have been in! ;)
Hope your friends like the video. That night was probably the highlight of my holiday!
2:27 "You-know-who": Who dares to attempt to start the fireworks on time?!?!
There is nothing like a thunder storm in Florida!
Especially near Tower of Terror
i love watching storms on video but am terrified of them when im actually thre. One time i went, we were waiting for fantasmic to begin, they kept postponing it, i was in hysterics, they kept saying it was safe, then after nearly 2 hours, they told us to get inside to safety i literally ran, and literally about 5 seconds after we got inside a store, lightening struck one of the buildings, i had to be taken to a cast only area to calm down. needless to say, fantasmic was cancelled that night.
@trentotoole Was it really hot, or unusually hot, that particular day because that's a pretty intense storm with the constant lightning and thunder, at times, sounding like bombs exploding
At least everyone is safe and away from the storm
Unless you have lightning powers
Yeah
Yes... the areas undercover was packed like sardines... probably no safer than standing out in the middle of it... but it felt safer! (plus we were dry!) :)
Yeah, I did actually. I must have seen it a couple of years ago as I noticed I had a comment on his video and also a video response of video. Great to see it from a different perpsective... the storm was awesome! :)
no fuck this storm
I can hear the rumble of the thunder and lightning coming
@ScottWhiley's Rail and air productions yes I can hear the thunder and lightning come because I reminded me of the June 11th 2009 thunderstorm moved into Dallas Texas and moved across into my home
Really mate did it really came to you that thunderstorm
memories for me and my fam, eventhough my mom passed on, I miss going with her
Looks like the same to the Philippines every 6 months period of rain.
@Ghaeilge1 It was a great storm wasn't it! One of the highlights of my trip! Enjoyed your video of it too!
I have been to downtown Disney during a thunder storm
wow that looks like so much fun, haha. but it would suck if it was the only time during our Florida trip that we could go to Magic Kingdom and there's a huge lightning storm.
I definitely would be crying there. I'm sensitive to loud noises and I can't watch fire works at Disney without earplugs so this would be horrible.
Aspen Dun facts with me as well
Im the exact same i remember when i was there two months ago there was a lightning storm but i was so panicky about a thunderstorm i was running to the bus stop even tho i didnt know where it was this happened in disney springs/downtown disney
damn this must of been a powerful thunderstorm
i went to florida october 2nd till 16th 2010, it didnt even rain, we never saw wicked storms like this. was abit dissapointed i love a good storm
that looks so epic
Central Florida is the ground srtike lightning capital of the world,I would never stand out in an electrical storm.
When I first went in 1992 we were at the electrical parade and without warning, it suddenly started downpouring. lol
kool video, i was there not long before this storm :D can i ask how long did the storm last for??
You Floridians are crazy to stay outside in a storm like this
Vincenzo Scarapicchia
I am actually from Australia... wouldn’t let a Florida storm wreck my day at Disney World!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I didn’t know that you are Australian visitor of Walt Disney world
*Fantasia is becoming a reality*
i think i heard a thor guard lightning siren in this film
My sister passed away in 2008...we went to WDW nearly every two years together since 1989. I still haven't gone back. I plan to one day, but it's gonna be tough.
Do they have any sirens? I went there last summer and there was no tornado sirens there
Did you see the stranded stroller at 4:04?
epic fireworks show
4:05
"damn my baby is smelly, i think i'll put him riiight here."
Have u got your raincoat with u
did you see the video by Banks Lee? He was there on the same day.
Perfect weather to go queue for a ride :D
@iamtheman7732 I didn't find it scary as I love storms... it was an extremely intense storm though and not one where I would stand out in the open waiting to get fried!
i wounder what mickey mouse would do at a time like this
Huha holy shit
He would be panicking and say to everybody to take cover now
Who’s to say he’s not the one controlling the lightning?
Tell Zeus to stop hurling his thunderbolts.
Take his costume of and ruin the dreams of kids
is that a lightning storm? cause i have been there when those would hit and they are very scary
It's Thor making the thunder, he's still mad that disney bought marvel.
omg the lightning is so cool but very dangerous!!! why arent people inside a building this is so stupid! i would not risk my life being outside in a lightning storm if i was there.
looks like the villans are angry especially maleficent
anaheim cancels fireworks often from a little breeze and disneyworld continues after a huge thunderstorm?
ur safer going inside as the lightning ins't attracted to stone as it is to metal
2:26 Damn that lightning was mad
3:14 Fuck 3:15: You
nice man that had to be scarey
I certainly did... while they will lose their deposit, it's good to see that the parents took the kid with them! :)
was that a funnel cloud I saw
yes i saw it to
Me too I can see it in the distance approaching fast
Hey Zeus don't scare kids
Ha ha ye i suppose sounds like u had a great night :D
Inside space mountain : I aint even mad
was the end after the storm
thunderrstorm lightning Engeland london
This happened back in 2005 when my fam went
I Like The Disney Land In Anaheim-Orange,California But Disney World Orlando,Florida But I Like Disney Land Anaheim,California Better Because California Has Better Weather And Disney World Orlando,Florida Gets A LOT!! Of Rain In Summer And Disney Land,Anaheim Has Sunny Weather!!!!
