"concentration is overrated" I think this is your best interview so far.

I know! I about laughed out loud, but I know what he means. I find that NOT concentrating on the music JUST before I perform makes me more relaxed. If I spend every second before I play concentrating on different passages, or areas I might have problems with, seems to make my mistakes even worse! The best times I have performed have been where I had to worry about something complete outside of the performance. :o)

I know, right, Victor? That's such a mood, as the kids say. I really got that as soon as he said it. Best interview!

I have just been to a concert in Cape Town in which Erik Bosgraaf performed. I was left breathless with the depth and colour he gave to Bach's recorder concertos. It was wonderful to watch him: he played with his entire body and soul and had a wonderful rapport with the other musicians and the audience. As an amatuer recorder player I was truly inspired - although I don't think I will ever close the bell of my recorder in standing and play standing on one leg!

Love this! I played oboe first before I started recorder, but I love the portability of the recorder, the sweet tone, and no reeds to make!

That's the great thing about improvisations- today the music is this version, yesterday's version is gone. There might be elements of yesterday in today, but living requires changes, growing. Staying the the same is stagnation.

Didn't get the notification about the new video but still saw the preview:
"Wow, Sarah has published a new interview, let's go and watch it soooooon!"
Then here comes Erik which looks like an extremely nice guy (how is it that recorder players all seem nice? Lucie was sweet and adorable, Michala was kind and personal, Erik was down to earth and interesting.
Anyway, this was a short but interesting interview and you have definitely a talent for interviewing people. Erik said a lot of interesting things.
I loved his Bb soprano which sounds marvellous and the piece he improvised... just WOW.
And the small duet you played... you sounded SSOOOOO good together and those big, big recorders had such a mellow sound!

I, too, find it rather tiring of those who persist that the recorder is not a "real instrument!" Just because the recorder was not among the woodwinds in my high school band - does not negate the fact that the recorder is, indeed, a real instrument with a rich cultural history dating back centuries. As for me, I am pleased as punch to be among those who call themselves recorder players, and for whom the recorder player plays. 😊 🎼 ♫
