The first time I heard any of tracks was in 1999 when I was living with a friend for 4 months of non-stop partying. His roommate was a DJ from Lithuania and he played these vinyls on his Technics. I fell in love with this music and bought my own Technic turntables in 2005 with a Pioneer Dj mixer. I'm happy I found your channel because you mix these great tracks flawlessly. I am not as good as you are. I only DJ for myself now at home. Thank you for bringing back great memories and for the nice mixes!

Your mixing and blending remind me of this DJ in Amsterdam, Netherlands at the Odium bar & club in the back. Yeah Strange World is a bit of a spicy one to mix… especially when the vinyl is warped and jumps when you try to cue it! Great track.

Hey, as i mentioned it's KG here. Glad to see you back. Child is a great excuse, congrats! So regarding what i saw here: how do you rate rp7000? Are their slider "steps" smaller or perfect sync is still an issue? You had some desync transitions (i call them dirty) but it was hard to understand was it because players do not allow to sync perfectly or it's just some lack of practice. Quite unxpected request to share mixes, i will think about it :D If my videos are not deleted yet maybe i will put a link here
Hey, good to hear from you. Thanks, it's been a tough 6 months or so but finally getting to grips with parenting... I think :)
The RP7000s are great, and noticeably better than the AT LP120s, in terms of torque, and not fighting you when you try to slow the platter down. In terms of pitch steps, the RP7000 is better than the LP120, presumably as it has +-8% rather than 10%, so there's more granularity, but the steps are still quite large. Minor adjustments don't seem to do anything, until a tiny nudge more and all of a sudden it's a big change. I think Jay from Just Technics showed that the steps on the RP8000 (which should be the same as these) are about 0.2%. I will try to verify this with Traktor and DVS to see what steps I can observe.
I think the desyncs are a mostly due to the steps not allowing perfect sync as you say. My biggest observation on this is that some transitions are perfect and don't need any nudges, whereas others need a lot of nudging to keep in time. Don't get me wrong, there's the occasional mistake from me and I'm not perfect, but I feel like there is an element of luck in getting these locked in and sometimes it feels impossible, especially compared to my old all analogue DD turntables back in the day (and probably 1210s too).

Yeah, I noticed that moment with "some tracks sync perfectly" when switched from RP2000 to RP4000. This is because some tracks speeds "match" given combination of pitch adjustments on both decks while the other tracks speeds still at ~0.5 BPM shift and these "steps" dont allow to overcome this difference. While I switched to 1200MK2 I still have my RP4000 so I actually tried to investigate if it is spossible to fix this - make steps smaller. My hope was voltage from slider goes into separate ADC IC which has too big quatization and replacing it with more precise would solve the issue. But after I found schematics I realized ADC is built in main contoller IC and it is probably controls motor speed with built it firmware as 3 phase motor speed adjusts via voltage/freequency pair so it's not that simple. So time investments in this make no sense. Sad t hear RP7 are prone to this issue aswell. This means all hanpin decks are hard to mix on. Probably after some months of use you will start to hate these decks even if you are happy now. At least this was main trigger for me to get real Technics.
Yep, I’m pretty much there now to be honest. They’re really frustrating as some mixes are spot on and others are really hard work. You’ll see this in mix 7, which will be up tonight. Like you say, just luck whether things line up. I’ve started making tiny adjustments to the “other” deck to try and get more wiggle room but it’s still hit and miss. Great to hear you tried to solve the issue but a shame it’s all built into that one chip.
I see 1210s on the horizon. Probably a few years off though as we’ve still got our hands full with the little one so the decks are seeing less use.
