READ THE SECRET HISTORY!!! It's so enthralling and twisty and the characters are so grey-area and interesting! I literally stayed up all night finishing it.
Last year I (unintentionally) read several of books that had been on my TBR the longest (would read one, next one I read was the 'new' oldest one). Cinder by Marissa Meyer and the Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater were among them, and shock(!) Both of them ignited the same sort of energy that The Hunger Games did when I read it back in 2013. (Those two had been on my TBR since 2015 btw so I was quite glad to get around to them FINALLY 😂)
I recently read Cinder, and was honestly shocked by how much I enjoyed it, and of course I burned through the Raven Boys cycle. Maggie Stiefvater is a fantastic writer.
As someone from Newfoundland, it warms my cold, dead heart to see people talk about it! We often get forgotten about because of how removed we are from mainland Canada but I love that you enjoyed it here! I've heard The Innocents is wonderful
I finished the secret history almost a week ago and I haven't been able to read anything since. Its like nothing feels right and I really just want to go back into that book

I love Persepolis. I promise it's not all stress, it has some humor and everything in it. I definitely don't get the "A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading" question, either. It's not really on your TBR if you don't plan on reading it, I think.
When I was younger and I first started actually buying books, instead of just borrowing them, my family would go away a lot on weekends so I would always take with me a couple of books that I had started but hadn’t finished, a system I “created” as a way of forcing myself to have completed books. Now though, that’s gone completely out the window as over the years I was buying books on the regular, things have slowed back down now that I’m older Also your videos are weirdly calming? Lol

I vote for the Muse X HD. I think the clear with the light brown works well with your coloring. And you seemed very excited about them. The pink is a second for me. As far as books I am currently excited to read, probably next up will be Dear Mrs. Bird. It feels fitting for the time and what I need...humor in a dark time.
There is no specific book I'm really excited to read right now, but a specific author. I recently read Bluets by Maggie Nelson and...wow. So right now I just want to read everything she's ever written. She writes these essay-type books, but it's so beautifully written and poetic and raw..I read like two pages of Bluets and I fell in love. I think you would like her books too! Bluets is a short book, devided up into short numbered paragraphs, all about the color Blue, but also much more than that. It's incredible.
I have yet to read Persepolis, but the movie wasn’t stressful at all. In fact it was one of those stories that was super whimsical, yet simultaneously portrayed things so matter-of-factly in a way that made the themes even more impactful because it was enjoyable.
Most of my TBR is kept either at the library or I read ebooks/audios, the main time I buy books is either TBR I am given as gifts or books I have read, loved, and want my own copy of. Of course this is partially because I am a college student who has never had a real job before, once I do have one I might splurge on books more often (dominantly used ones). My personal collection of books is less than 200 but our family (mainly dad’s) collection is over 5000 lol.
This video is just perfect timing! Living in America as a junior in high school these past couple weeks I haven’t picked up a single book or posted a single picture on my bookstagram because I’ve been studying for the ACTs. Tomorrow I finally take this “future-altering” test and this video is the best thing that could calm my nerves!☺️
Omg go for Persepolis like right now, seriously It's amazing, you won't regret it. This became my fave graphic novel. I didnt find it stressful, It's quite funny but also sad. I read Maus and found it more stressful than Persepolis (waayy more).

I thought that the purples ones were really cute and I can see what you mean by the difference between the black and brown frames. I like the brown ones more than the black.

I feel like I have a weird system for choosing from my TBR pile, but it works for me: I have a physical stack/shelf and whenever it’s time to choose a new book I ask Siri to for a random number and I count along my shelf and that’s the book I read next. I have so many books I want to read and I have such a hard time choosing that I needed to be able to *not* choose and I couldn’t be bothered to make a TBR jar. So random number generator it is! 😂
I also enjoy having a lot of books in my home. 🥰 there's such joy in knowing there are so many stories around you, ones that you love and ones that are waiting to be read.
persepolis!! is!! really!! good!!! although it handles quite a tough topic, i think the way it's drawn and written, makes you feel what the author felt, how she was kind of a child, kind of not knowing what's going on, and it's really honest. i think you'll love it! (at least i did)

I organize my books by genre, then sub-categorize by author. Having a physical pile or dedicated shelf would make me too stressed, or needlessly guilty about the books I own but haven't read. What I read is so dependent on my mood, and honestly even the weather sometimes, ie. wanting to read Crime and Punishment while it's snowy. My next read is always random, and I like that freedom.
I never used to think much about TBRs but being on Booktube has changed that. Now, I have an ever-growing list of books I want to get to. And I love it!
I have abandoned goodreads completely. I keep a short list of tbr on a google doc along with my previously read books and a star rating. Wheneve i want to read a new book, i go down that list and see what i can request/borrow right away from the library on my kindle. I also usually have a couple of longer holds that im waiting on and will read when they pop up. It helps me to stay committed to one book at a time since i have a time limit.
Oh I read the persepolis this January and I just loved it. Since you are in your graphic novels phase you should definitely give this one a chance. It's popular and well known for a reason. It's important in terms of its message and cultural meaning but it's also very well structured and executed.
It's actually not that stressful. The author focuses a lot on positive and humorous things. So it's not like Chernobil level of stressful bc it deals with a serious real life topic

Clear frames rock I think they are going to be my next pair of glasses. I haven’t been on good reads for a few years. My system is just grab and read. Ebooks I have ton and ton of ebooks. I love physical books but due to space and I move around a lot ebooks are just practical.
I do this thing in which I don't add any books to my TBR pile on goodreads unless I own it, physical, epub or audio. All the books I want to read I put them in different shelves: the definitely want to and the maybe. Once I get them, I move them to my tbr pile :))
My TBR is usually made up of birthday and Christmas pressies, so I usually get like 4 - 6 books and finish them when summer starts, then if im going on holiday I'll pick up some books I'm really excited about :) I don't like the feeling of "you have 10 books to read by X time" bc that makes it work not fun I think if I was at home more with my cat I'd read more but honestly as an adult I find it so hard to make myself sit down and stay put for more than 3 hours, plus trying to write novel, grown up and exercise takes up a big chunk of my spare time like sometimes you just want to watch TV and snuggle and that's okay
I use my e-reader to read books that I care enough to read but not to buy and/or keep including most Stephen King Books for example and some big fantasy series :) I'm not sure I would do that if I could get them from my library though ; I live in France so there aren't a lot of books available in English. I both add my books on a TBR shelf on GR and keep a spreadsheet, I really like it because I always know how many unread books I have, which I know is stressful for some people but I like knowing x) Love the purple glasses! I always struggle with my TBR because I really want to read every single book on it now but I can't because it's way too big and I end up stressed out but then, I want to buy another book that I know I'm going to read and sometimes I do read that book not long after buying it, but mostly it sits for quite some time and the cycle continues 🤔
I like the purple ones best. Also, my TBR is tracked on a spreadsheet. I use it to keep track of books I own. Why? Because my immediate, physical, TBR is 660 books. That's not including books in series AFTER those ones. Which is another 373. So my TBR is over a 1,000 physical books. So yeah, I need a spreadsheet to keep track of what books I own. On the bright side, my library is going to last me the next ten god damn years. Woo!
While rearranging my bookshelf i came across a book i had bought a few months ago. It was a fanatsy fiction 'Voyagers of hell'. I put it on my table and started reading after my work done. So amazing it was that i regreted why i couldnt read it when i first bought it. Now i am recommending my friends to read it as it is a chilling thriller.

I cannot imagine having no way of tracking my tbr! I use goodreads, and I find having it in a list like that means that I don't have to stress trying to remember what books I mean to read. I own Secret History as well and can’t wait to get to it. I also have Jane Austen’s Persuasion, The Bell Jar and Wuthering Heights on my TBR I can’t wait to read. And now I’ll add The Seven Husbands book, it sounds great!

The print books usually cost more than the e-books, so if that's the case I download a sample and see if I'd like to own it in print. Anything less than 200INR is an e-book buy for sure.

I love the distinction between a cover buy and a cover motivated buy - I've never heard it explained that way, and I love it!

Clear frames rock I think they are going to be my next pair of glasses. I haven’t been on good reads for a few years. My system is just grab and read. Ebooks I have ton and ton of ebooks. I love physical books but due to space and I move around a lot ebooks are just practical.
I do this thing in which I don't add any books to my TBR pile on goodreads unless I own it, physical, epub or audio. All the books I want to read I put them in different shelves: the definitely want to and the maybe. Once I get them, I move them to my tbr pile :))
I like the fourth pair best, I think. But you should go with the pair that you like the best!😁
My TBR is usually made up of birthday and Christmas pressies, so I usually get like 4 - 6 books and finish them when summer starts, then if im going on holiday I'll pick up some books I'm really excited about :) I don't like the feeling of "you have 10 books to read by X time" bc that makes it work not fun
I think if I was at home more with my cat I'd read more but honestly as an adult I find it so hard to make myself sit down and stay put for more than 3 hours, plus trying to write novel, grown up and exercise takes up a big chunk of my spare time like sometimes you just want to watch TV and snuggle and that's okay
I didn't find Persepolis stressful or hard to read at all! I read it in one day and LOVED it! it's my favorite graphic novel EVER

Lavender and lilac is my favorite color too. In fact my current glasses are purple too! The purple is my favorite on you!

I use my e-reader to read books that I care enough to read but not to buy and/or keep including most Stephen King Books for example and some big fantasy series :) I'm not sure I would do that if I could get them from my library though ; I live in France so there aren't a lot of books available in English.
I both add my books on a TBR shelf on GR and keep a spreadsheet, I really like it because I always know how many unread books I have, which I know is stressful for some people but I like knowing x)

I always struggle with my TBR because I really want to read every single book on it now but I can't because it's way too big and I end up stressed out but then, I want to buy another book that I know I'm going to read and sometimes I do read that book not long after buying it, but mostly it sits for quite some time and the cycle continues 🤔
I like the purple ones best. Also, my TBR is tracked on a spreadsheet. I use it to keep track of books I own. Why? Because my immediate, physical, TBR is 660 books. That's not including books in series AFTER those ones. Which is another 373.
So my TBR is over a 1,000 physical books.
So yeah, I need a spreadsheet to keep track of what books I own. On the bright side, my library is going to last me the next ten god damn years. Woo!
While rearranging my bookshelf i came across a book i had bought a few months ago. It was a fanatsy fiction 'Voyagers of hell'. I put it on my table and started reading after my work done. So amazing it was that i regreted why i couldnt read it when i first bought it. Now i am recommending my friends to read it as it is a chilling thriller.

I cannot imagine having no way of tracking my tbr! I use goodreads, and I find having it in a list like that means that I don't have to stress trying to remember what books I mean to read.

I own Secret History as well and can’t wait to get to it. I also have Jane Austen’s Persuasion, The Bell Jar and Wuthering Heights on my TBR I can’t wait to read. And now I’ll add The Seven Husbands book, it sounds great!
Carolina Persuasion imo is Jane Austen’s dark horse underrated novel. It is SO sweet and autumnal and beautiful.

Oh Persepolis is really good. I read it in one sitting I think.
The print books usually cost more than the e-books, so if that's the case I download a sample and see if I'd like to own it in print. Anything less than 200INR is an e-book buy for sure.
I just bought The Innocents too and the cover is definitely what made it jump off the shelf at me at the used book store! The story and setting also sound amazing 🤗
