- Predators is a 2010 film directed by Nimrod Antal and produced by Robert Rodriguez. Where a Berserker monster fights Adrien Brody on a space jungle planet with a lot of cool scenes that I think go overlooked. Today Tony and I go over this movie and discuss our thoughts.

Just watched Predators on Hulu. Love this movie, and I’m legit shocked Predator fans seem to really dislike it on TH-cam. Adrien Brody is the bomb in this movie

I couldn’t agree more. The ending leaves so much to be desired though.
Predators was awful. None of the protagonists are likable. Why are there warring fractions occupying the same planet. How did they get on the planet if these people are the most worthy fighter's from earth.
It's derivative. Lawrence Fishburns character was underwhelming.
It is tried in 3rd with prey as my favorite Predator movie.

Predators is what more franchise movies need to be. A stand alone story that’s doesn’t coast on established continuity.
I honestly think this is the best sequel in the Predator series because of the dark tone and new ideas for the Yautja culture.
Not just underrated but underrated and fun Predators is and we got a prequel and sequel comic to this movie which makes it even better
It honestly was. And nearly everyone in that cast *IS* an acclaimed actor.
Also, the first movie that introduced me to both Walton Goggins & Mahershala Ali.
You just blew my mind! I had no idea Mahershala Ali was in this! I've become a big fan after Luke Cage, Green Book and Moonlight, he's an excellent actor. I'm going to have to go back and revisit this. Probably time to do a Predator binge to prep for Prey in August anyway.
If you want to see Walton Goggins in two great roles. Check out "Justified" and "The Shield."

Yup. Walter played Shane on the shield and he was phenomenal. He's been great in everything I've seen him in.
Predators was awesome. Felt like a comic book
I bought the film on DVD on my birthday watched it with my parents and we loved it! There was even a call back to the first film with the Crucified Predator bearing a striking to it's 1987 counterpart and the scene where Dutch is referenced by the character Isabella, whom tells the others about the "incident in Guatemala."
Why did Predator 2 feel like a departure? I just don't understand. It felt to me like a natural progression while this film felt like a repeat of the first with a twist seen from a mile away.

The Yakuza guy vs one of the Predators is the coolest scene in any Predator movie.
Predators is easily my favorite Predator movie after the original, saw it twice in theaters and gladly own a Blu-ray copy. Never was a fan of Predator 2, and as for The Predator, well the less we talk about that, the better.
Predator 2 is good, it’s not great, but it’s acceptable. But the original and Predators are easily the best in the franchise and Predators is definitely better than that stupidity filled 2018 mess.

@@alexandermatthews145 they just went all Michael Bay Transformers with the 2018 Predator. The Hunt was completely shat on with overdone action and bad humor. Some of the kills were cool though.
Exactly everone! I think Adrian Brody killed it (Check out The Experiment with Adrian Brody.) and the surprise Lawrence Fishburn was great. Great great movie.

I personally agree that Predators is underrated. It's not the greatest film, and it borrows story beats from the original movie, but I love it. Unlike a certain other Predator sequel it manages to have a similar spirit to Predator.
I still love the movie but coming from King Kong and The Pianist, I just don’t see him as the action hero, but maybe because The first is Arnold and no one is Arnold.
At last, some people who appreciate Predators -- My favorite movie of the series. Hard to believe Robert Rodriguez filmed that near his home in Austin, TX. And what was so bad about Predator II? I really liked that one as well (Danny, boy). I even liked AVP, though Requiem was stretching the suspension of disbelief a little too far, yet did finish the AVP story.
Predators is one of my favourite sci-fi films of all time. It’s such a great concept. I love how much is unanswered, and how much mystery there is.

When it comes to "Predators" I always like it as equally as "Predator 2" because I am a huge fan of science-fiction movies that go nuts like the movie knows what it is and goes apeshit with the idea.
I myself *loved* "Predators" when it first came out (👍), and I still do to this day. This felt like a more understandable, engaging , classic-style "Predator" film. I could tell significant work went into fleshing out the human characters as 3-Dimensional, the Predators (both the classic and 'new breed' ones) were as well-done as ever, and the story was definitely intriguing. Plus, I for one was truly surprised by the twist with Topher Grace's character (him being a serial killer who was unassuming). I personally find it WAY more enjoyable than the film that came _after_ this ("The Predator"). I would say it's ALMOST on the same level as the 1987 original, but that's just me talking.
My favorite 3rd movie in a franchise and also one of my favorite sequel films.
To me, I love all the aliens and predator movies. Not one of them has let me down. I must be to easy of something. Plus they actually showed the fight scene with the yakuza and the predator. We didn't see that with Billy or king willie.
This movie is badass. I was really excited for it. AVP are amazing. Love them both.

You should do a video about "without warning" which was similar predator, but released before predator. It even star Kevin Peter Hall as the alien.
In regards why there can't be several species of a sapient creature. Two points can be made:
1. If you look at hominids we all occupy pretty much the same ecological niche and lead the same lifestyle because we never have had the chance to radiate as different species. This is not the case for Bears and Wolfs. Different species of them will either specialize on different food sources or will have areals that overlap only partially.
Then there's an issue of how quickly the hominids spread. Even in the pre-civilization era humans spread like a wildfire: in a given habitat(Eastern Asia and Americas) on one archeological layer there's no trace of humans then 2000 years(literally one layer) later we are all over the place. Because of that speed of proliferation when one hominid species invades the areal of the other they find themselves in direct competition instantly by evolutionary standards - ie there's no time to adapt.
2. The other point is what Isaac Arthur always brings up: the radiation of sapient species begins after they leave the homeworld. Basically it's an idea that due to different enviornments the species are bound to start to deviate from the OG formula whether it be biologically, technologically or culturally eventually becoming effectively alien.
Personally I liked the fan theory that suggested that the Super Predators in the 3rd movie were Females whereas the regular Predators that we've seen before are Males who have to prove themselves as formidable hunters before they get the chance to mate. And that the classic Predator in the 3rd movie is either one judged unworthy or a cheater. This would also explain why the Predators would need a preserve - to raise their young.
A bit of nerd part on the dogs: they are terrestial creatures therefore if they lay eggs those eggs have to be able to ressist dehydration and therefore would be hard to fertilize externally. Even the birds have to deliver the sperm from Male to Female before the eggs are laid or even formed.
HOWEVER! They don't need to mount each other in order to deliver the DNA package. Therefore their spikes might not be a detriment to reproduction.
What they are a detriment to are the aquisition of food. The back spikes clearly serve a function of protection from bigger predators. But the head spikes? They would directly interfere with hunting or consumption of larger prey which is a big no-no. This however may be written off as an artificial selection by their Masters - Predators clearly like the spiky aesthetic and might have inbred the poor dogos kinda like the case with Bulldogs.
This movie was good, REALLY good! The wolf predators were awesome and that predator v predator fight was also awesome! (much longer than the 2018 one too)...

It pays enough lip service to its predecessor but also could be watched as a stand alone film and hold up
I always felt like a black sheep for enjoying predators(2018) I’m happy that one of my favorite TH-camrs is giving it the respect it deserves
Oh this movie is incredible! Seeing all these different killers with diverse training getting hunted down by a considerably less honorable pack than the last two films was awesome! while maybe they made the predators face designs weird the masks are some of the coolest in the series! My favorite scene involved those hellhounds I love them so much!
I highly recommend watching Falling Down and Predator 2 as a double feature. It’s like they’re in the same universe.
The weird thing about this is the only reason at the time I knew it was going to be coming out. I was playing Saints Row 2 with some friends which was somewhat of a dead game it seemed like at that point. They changed the billboards in game to a Predators advertisement. I really enjoy the movie even though yeah it does repeat some stuff like you said. Would way rather have had a sequel to this story vs The Predator which is awful imo.
The Alien, Terminator and Predator franchises have a very rough time after their second movies onwards. But I do think that films like Predators and Prometheus, and even aspects of Terminator Salvation, deserve another chance. The rest (like Genisys, Dark Fate, and The Predator) not so much.

I would like to see a continuation of this movie's story. I don't think it's better than 2 but I enjoyed it more than two.
I like the movie. Even watched it more than once. I like it more than the AvP movies or the 2018 movie.

I didn't hate it when I saw it in theaters but very much appreciate it now.
Definitely one of the better movies of the franchise. I didn't like the idea of the "Super Predators," but I got used to it, eventually.
Y'know what else doesn't get enough love? The video game "Predator: Concrete Jungle." It's an absolute hoot!
I actually followed the production pretty closely, and people were really fixating on the Jungle Hunter who turned out to be the Crucified Predator. I would also argue that AVPR, while not a good movie, has some great violence and action sequences.
Also, I would wager the title Predators is in reference to the human cast, not the alien hunters this time around. We have a main character in Royce that is different from Dutch. He actually enjoys killing, fighting, and war as much as the Predators.

I love Predators. It was the first Predator movie that I was old enough to see in the theatres and enjoy. Those AvP movies killed my enthusiasm, and like Tony, I was cautiously optimistic for this film. I wasn't disappointed.

I remember seeing this in theaters when I was 16. I loved this movie so much I kept track of when the DVD would be released. I still love Predators to this day.

I watched Predatos with my little brother, he hadn't seen Predator 2 and he loved Predators. I also like Predators just a little more than the second one and besides its flaws I think is a great sequel. The Predator killed the franchise for me I couldn't watch it again.
Predators is an excellent starting point for an expanded universe of Predator movies following survivors from the game reserve escaping and trying to find their way home while being pursued by various Predator factions
I loved Predators back in the day, really enjoyed it. I definitely need to rewatch the trilogy though, I think I've never seen Predator 2
This IS underated and I really enjoyed it. Was disappointing by the lack of multiple targets fixed on Royce like what was shown in the trailer.
But I thought AvP was brilliant, especially the full version.

Crazy, my experience with Predator 2 is almost identical to yours. I was around the same age and got the ending where Harrigan gets caught in the net. I didn't know what it was from but it was so awesome that every day in school i would draw that scene inside the ship. It wasn't until years later that I found out what movie it was from. I love both movies but find myself rewatching Predator 2 more frequently. Playing AVP2 on pc probably added to my love for the sequel..

This movie is definitely an underrated gem.
The "super predators" from Predators , should have been the genetically altered versions from the original script, and the big predator from The Predator should have been "the difference between dogs and wolves." IMO.
_The Predator_ seemed like a committee driven movie that tried to cash in on Marvel and blew up its budget on marketing.
_Predators_ seemed like a labor of love by actual Predator fans who in their passion to make a good movie neglected to advertise it.
I like this sequel. Who knew there’s two academy award winning actors and an Emmy nominee actor in this movie?
Predator is one of my top ten favorite movies of all time and I love Predator 2 as well, well I think Predators is really good to me.
This movie is definitely one of my favorites and I wish more people could see the love put into the movie,but yeah this video was so amazing and really just gave back my hope & love for the movie

I hated predators when I first saw it. Then upon rewatch I really enjoyed it. I still like predator 2 better because of nostalgia and Danny glover. And everything mentioned by tony. But. Danny glover is always amazing
Predators was fuckin awesome!!!! The guy from That 70's Show nailed the villain role and this movie was overall just fantastic.
There's only 1 thing that absolutely drives me up the wall about this movie. I love this movie except the scene when the predators dogs attack and the line of characters all aim 1 or 2 shots before dropping their guns down and firing from the hip wasting all ammo. But they're supposed to be the best in the business.....that one scene man.....
Final thought, I actually think Predators is superior to The Force Awakens in referential material. While yes, you have some direct call-backs but it isn’t nudging and winking you to death. It works on its own without having seen previous films.
Also, there is a short promotional film called The Chosen that shows you all the sins from the main cast.
The one thing from P2 I didn't like was when "Scorpio" got shot off a 10 story building and fell onto a foldable picnic table..and it didn't break..🤷♂️
To this day, I have _no idea_ why Predators is so disliked...In a lot of ways, I actually like it _more_ than the original. I know that the movie takes a lot of nods and homages from the original, but I found the updated concept and air of mystery behind it so much more fascinating.
The idea of Predator is that it's an alien coming to _our planet_ to hunt us on our turf. Here, the hunters have abducted people and brought them to their hunting planet - Dangerous Game style. And it shows you just how _hopeless_ the situation is. The goal isn't to run or to escape; it's to survive...Even if you don't stand and fight, you've got to survive...because you're never going home.

I loved this movie but everyone else seemed to hate it. I liked the concept of ‘human predators’ being hunted on another planet.
Predators was good. It isn't terrible. Everyone just wanted more but the filmmakers really wanted to ignore P2 for whatever reason and still continue aspects the P1 in continuity. Personally I like it, but the film did leave questions unless you read the Dark horse comics followup to the story.
I don’t think the movie was ignoring P2 as much as it wasn’t as relevant to this film. Sure maybe one of the character might’ve heard rumors of that incident but it wouldn’t change the story too much. I do think it carries on the idea of predators having a range of taste in the prey they look for.
The 4 arm predator from that comic was mutated by the black goo from prometheus it was sort of a crossover with that side of the two franchises Including a fight between the Ahab Predator and his prey one of the Engineers.
AvP2 was like watching a black screening the theater. They should correct the exposure it and re-release it on DVD/BluRay.
I wanted a Concrete Jungle comic adaptation with Alan Ritchson as Dutch’s brother, set in 89 New York that looks how Gotham did in Joker
The humans in this movie were very interesting and NECA released some great figures...I just wish the trailer didn't show that they were on a different planet...that would have blown me away...

I actually saw "Predators" at a midnight screening back when they still did those on Thursday nights instead of the 7 and 10pm ones they do now.
Nimrod or Nimlot, was a mighty hunter who ordered the construction of the Tower of Babel and was known as a king who challenged god.
It's alright. Better than I gave credit for. But when i stop and think about it i remember it very well surprisingly. Usually if I don't like something I forget it pretty fast.
Predators is an average sequel, but I'd say its the best of the sequels and spin-offs. It will be interesting to see how the prequel "Prey" turns out.

I enjoyed Predators. It was overall a good a cohesive story that fit into the Predator universe. I too was very disappointed with the trailer showing us a hundred lasers sights only to find out it was just 3 predators. Also I kind of spoiled myself because when it was coming out they were releasing videos and updates on it and some story spoilers came out of it.

At first...I was skeptical about this film. I had seen a freeze frame before it came out of the new predator design and I hated it. That being said...the film came through...and in the end...the new design...as it turns out...was not an attempt to reboot anything and we even got a classic predator. In that context...my doubts vanished and frankly...I enjoyed the hell out of this film. I'd love to see a scenario where old Dutch and Royce ended up having to team up against these creatures. Or anything other than where they did go with it all after.

I thought predators was really good. Definitely on par with predator 2.
But obviously both fall short compared to the original.
