I just want to point out that Doug was probably very "wrong" to challenge anti-vaxers by saying, "If I die, then you were right." I do know after 30 years of friendship that Doug recently discovered a rather severe heart condition. Likely due to his extremely low body fat and steroid use. Even he has admitted that it's not a particularly healthy diet or sport, but he loved body building and adored all of those in it. And was very good at it. He once told me that he wouldn't live past 50, but he did. And, he had Atherosclerosis, which he told me a few years ago. He also told me that he's had a couple of heart attacks. Animal protein is the healthiest thing bodybuilders put into their bodies to grow, i am pretty sure that the root cause of most of those deaths is due to the abuse of other things or other factors not related to bodybuilding at all like this case.

If he was over 60 yrs old, depriving himself of nutrients and water and training hard for a bodybuilding show, that would all definitely contribute to lowered immunity. When you draw the blood work of marathon runners and Olympic athletes after a long and grueling event, their bloodwork would scare a doctor. It is 100% possible that he died from an infection. Honestly, it could have been the flu he ran into, it probably would have killed him. Either way its a fucking terrible loss to our industry.
