    You don't have to remove the oil pan to change the passenger side. All you have to do is remove the dog bone mount and raise the motor 2 in.

      So just the dogbone? Not the other mount? Cause I have to take the coolant tank out to do that and I’m lazy lol.

    • @user-ms1fw6zq1b
      @user-ms1fw6zq1b 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just the dog bone and the jack up the engine from oil pan.

    He's wrong about the side that hits the oil pan, all you have to do is loosen the engine/trans mount on that side and jack up the engine slightly with a wood block or padding of any kind you'll be good.

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noel127 That would be another way to do it

    • @rubencastro5092
      @rubencastro5092 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Where the engine/trans mount on the left side located?

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never removed it and do not know exactly where it is

    • @Noel127
      @Noel127 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rubencastro5092 Hey bro. On the driver side it's under the battery cover tray. Remove the battery and tray you'll see the trans mount. Make sure to support the bottom of the engine with a wood block or adequate padding not to bend or gouge the metal pans under the engine. Make sure you only loosen the frame side of the mount. (the bolts attached to the body of the car not the side aiming towards engine bay) and as you loosen then go ahead and jack up that side of the engine to clear the bolt. Same applies to engine mount on the passenger side right below the coolant reservoir. Third one is under the engine called the dog bone mount and it can easily be removed engine side. Not bushing side and you can then lift. Make sure you torque back to original spec or you will have driveline issues fuel economy problems. Easily align it back and torque and you're good to go.

    with the oil pan, cant you just losen the engine mount and than lift the engine up enough to remove the bolt ???

    I have a 2008 rabbit. Bought it used. I’ve started doing my own maintenances on it.
    Now I am binge watching all these vids!
    What made you realize you had to change the control arm? Just wondering since mine has never been changed my rabbit has 150k miles on it

      Thanks for the video man... shop just quoted me $200 just to swap out the old arms on my '11 MKVI GTI with new ones that I already changed all the bushings on with upgraded Powerflex. This should take me less than hour and a half to swap(and that's with cleaning and inspection of other areas) - thanks for link to torque specs.- let's keep getting our hands dirty-it keeps the mind sharp.

      @@ErickMartinSucre for the brakes, are they actually good? Do the brakes have sensors? The price has me with doubt.

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wheel sensor is attached to the wheel hub so no worries there. The 4 disks and brakes come complete and it has yet to fail me

    Hey man, after installing my lower left control arm, there is a ton of squeaking coming from it. What do I do to fix this?

    • @Righteouness
      @Righteouness 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have WD-40 silicone lubricant spray. Would that work?

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is hard to tell. You may need to jack your car up with its front wheels in the air. Be careful during this process by making sure the front of the car is jacked properly. Once you put it in gear the front wheels will just spin in the air. This would allow you to find the sound and what is causing it. Safety is imperative here.

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you can find what is causing the squeaking sure.

    • @Righteouness
      @Righteouness 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erick Martin Sucre it’ll squeak when it goes over bumps, accelerate or stop.

    • @simonturner4485
      @simonturner4485 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe my mistake but it looked like you were under that car at one point with it only held up with the trolley jack. Good video though, I'm about to do mine and didn't realise the oil pan would obstruct. I'd just hate for people to go under cars only held by a jack. I've seen them fail.

    • @ErickMartinSucre
      @ErickMartinSucre  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had 2 jacks. One for the arm just in case and the other near the engine block. I changed the oil pan one by removing oil pan and lifting engine a little. The only issue I currently have is the gasket. They sell the gasket for the 2.5 engine. Do not use gasket maker it does not seal properly. I made the mistake of using that and its leaking. Thank for you commenting by the way I appreciate it.
