“I AM” is my response to Ava DuVernay’s film 'Origin'. It is about the reclamation, reconciliation and reconnection to our identity, our language and the origins of who we are and where we come from. By knowing who we are, we are then able to know where we are going. This is how we unlock our greatest power. I AM is taking back the power and giving it back to the people.
Ko tōku reo tōku ohooho, ko tōku reo toku māpihi maurea.

If you noticed during the performance he choked up a bit it’s because he lost his father to cancer a couple days before this so his emotions were still raw. Very powerful, he is New Zealand’s treasure and our cultures gift to the world. 😊

He is native New Zealand indigenous Maori. Born in Australia only coz his family had moved there to find a better life financially. But he came home to nz and represents nz in every way possible. He is much loved in both nz and Aussie. His songs are moving and he is very spiritual and trusts in the lord, strong in his church side which comes out in his songs of the past many times and shows his love for how much god has helped and given him especially with his gifted voice. There are a set of songs that you must listen to of his to really understand how incredible he truly is. It goes as follows, Amazing Grace live with the Levites, Ultralightbeam live with the Levites, I Am- the official movie soundtrack of the Movie Origins,

He won Australian Idol back a while ago. He is our representative of nz maori culture to the world today.

Thank you for your reaction ❤ we love Stan. This song was written for the Ava Duvernay movie called "Origin". I hope it wins an Oscar. Stan has been through so much but his voice is The Best. I hope you listen to more of his songs.
Those who feature the lady who was the lead in the move Origin. He is a lovely and humble human being and very very talented. The cancer and the removal of his stomach was due to a gene his family carries and many of them have passed because of it.

Have subscribed just because you have decided to go down Stans rabbit hole. Our brother Stan will blow your socks off at times. You say your into rap lyrics then you must know of Kanye Wests song Ultralightbeam? Listen to Stans version after you’ve listened to Kanye’s version and decide for yourself who’s one you prefer coz many after hearing both have noted Stans as a better version and done more soulful and gospel. Stan is very rooted in the church as a Christian and has had his faith tested and come out blessed when he was going through a hereditary stomach cancer that had claimed the lives of many of his family members. With his faith in God and great surgeons he had his stomach removed! All he was hoping for after the surgery is that he could still sing? He learnt to use a lesser diaphragm and overcame everything with the Grace of God on his side. His testimony is epic mate. And we all luv the humble Māori guy. He represents us all. Please check out Ultralightbeam live with the Levites and Amazing Grace live with the Levites. Choose ft Del Hamo and Bigger live with Levites. If your thinking whether he can actually sing like this live or not the answer is definitely YES… He’s no bs our Stan Walker. Oh and if you liked our language then try his tune
