    Absolutely fantastic video, and truly refreshing to see a fell race from a realistic perspective, rather than just the elites/highlights. It makes it look a little less intimidating than it may seem! Best of luck with the rest of the BGR. Word of caution - if it says it's going to rain, it most probably will! This dry spell has been crazy.

    • @OlgasBritishFells
      @OlgasBritishFells ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, it's an amazing video. By the way, if you want to see fell races from not elite high lights point of view, all mine ones are from the nearly at the back perspective. In this particular one I was last :-)) and just grateful they didn't cut me off and let me finish the race. I am a slow coach.

    Thanks Jeff. I think this is my favorite video so far. Pure joy, and you nailed the music!
    2 questions: curious to know why no one uses poles there. Perhaps you could address this in a next video. 2) is this the adv skin 12?

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Adv Skin 12, yep. Poles aren’t used in fell running, partly I suspect for safety around other runners and partly because they’d only get in the way on the descents. But I will be using them during the Bob Graham Round, as is common.

    I was up Bannerdale crags and Blencathra a couple of days ago, You've managed to get the best weather the Lakes has to offer (too hot for us Cumbrians), the normally boggy ground is bone dry. Enjoy the Lakes it's a superb place. Did you get bitten by the swarms of Horseflies?

    Welcome to the UK - been following you for a couple of years now. Good luck with the Bob. I successfully completed it 3 weeks ago - just! (23:50)😰. Became only the 5th person over 60 to complete, and the 1st over 60 to do it anticlockwise (data accurate to end of 2022). Let me know if you need a pacer (a steady one!) and hope to join the meet-up at the end of June.

    Nice to see this Jeff! Beautiful stuff. And that’s me coming past at about 15:30 in the blue and yellow vest. I know what you mean about the challenge of pacing these short races. My strategy is to cling on for dear life on the climbs then go absolutely hell for leather on the descents 😂

    Jeff I came across your videos a few months and been watching almost every single one of them as I'm starting to get into running - ran my first 10k in April this year and plan to do another one in October. I have to say you've ruined me for other running and ultra videos as yours are so amazingly produced and filmed, that now I'm just comparing the quality with anything else I watch. Keep up this amazing work and can't wait to see what you get up this summer!

    @jeffpelletier, welcome to England! If you want to understand fell running (& for instance, the significance of Pete Bland, your Blencathra fell run sponsor) and his phenominal brother Bobby, ck out Richard Askwith's "Feet in the Clouds". It'll also give you the full history of The Bob 😉 Enjoy this high pressure system! It's as rare as when I visited Vancouver Island in 2009 and they'd not had rain in a month 😳

      There don’t seem to be any dogs in the lakes, not like in the Alps or in Georgia. I suspect it’s because you don’t find many wolves there anymore so no need to protect the sheep.
