- I will never know what happened to Klaus' owner, but if we learned anything in the past year, it is that life is so fragile and things can change in an instant.
Every month, we are asked to help pets find loving forever homes after their owners passed away unexpectedly and no instructions were left for the care of their pets. Many of these pets end up in shelters or just thrown out to the streets... they are scared, confused, and can't believe how their world turned upside down because their owner didn't come home.

Seeing how calm and gentle he was after the initial shock of capture reassures that he was a loved pet. And I’m sure his original companion, wherever he is, is grateful to you for rescuing him. Here’s hoping Klaus finds a new home soonest. Thank you for sharing his story and reminding everyone to have some sort of plan in case they can’t care for their fur baby.

I have reached an age where, for the first time, I realize my pets may outlive me. What an odd realization! I have family who love my pets and would take them into their families. But how sad for people who don't have what I do. I think this dog may have been loved. Don't know why but I do. Anyway, I'm so happy PAWS found him. I donate so we can keep seeing stories with happy endings. God bless these good folks

I have a dog daycare and boarding business. People ask me to take their dogs if they die. So far I have only agreed to be in one person's will and will take their dog if they die. I have been caring for this dog three days a week for her entire life going on 10 years now and no one in her human guardian's family wants her, but I love her.
I'm there with you. I think i'm set for my current animals, but i've come to realize these will be my last pets. I would love to have others, but the thought of them being alone, or worse, if i die kills me. I guess when it's their time, i'll have to get my fix by volunteering at animal shelters.

I lost my sweet senior rescue yesterday afternoon to heart failure. He gave me 4 absolutely wonderful years of unconditional love and companionship. While I don’t know what life he had before me, I did my best to make sure the last years of his life were his best. He is greatly missed.
Dogs do not live long enough. SOME people live too long.
Seniors are the best!
That is the ‘only’ drawback to adopting a senior dog. They’re here for a good time, just not a long time.

Despicable owner's, do not need a dog and must not be allowed to have another, by relevant authorities.

I have a small chihuahua puppy foster now. She is like a tornado and and a piranha combined! Ha! Adorable and she is learning new things every day. I have fostered over 40 dogs. I beg anyone who loves animals to foster if you have the time and means. And don’t use that tired old excuse that you will get too attached. For heavens sakes, what is a short time of hurting your own feelings in relation to the joy of saving an animal’s life and sending them on to a forever home.

I love what they do, who wouldn't, but don't think that they don't earn money from this! Fortunately part of the donations go toward their salary.
It’s a good world when somebody can make a living rescuing these poor souls.
It's nice that their Community helps too with resources like getting help from the FD or the Utility companies.

I can't imagine that his human just left him behind. That trailer was his home, would you leave that behind. I hope someone is looking into the welfare of the man too.

The owner may have experienced a major and unexpected problem. The dog looks pretty healthy so maybe the owner didn't intentionally mistreat him.

It's also important to contact the police when someone "disappears" like this dog's owner did. Friends or family maybe missing the person and the police may be able to determine whether they are hospitalized or, worst case scenario, passed away.
I thought the same. He wouldn't live his "home behind" and just disappear out of the blue. I think something happened to him. I feel sad when I see people judging him without knowing

I agree. I'm not sure how long Klaus was alone, but he looked healthy. Take into account the state of the RV, his owner clearly cared more for the dog than himself.
That is a very good point. I mean this doggie looked well taken care of to me.
@@buchiklop110 In the US, should an unconscious or severely injured person be admitted to a hospital, or an unidentified body be brought to the municipal morgue, police won't automatically investigate unless someone, usually a relative, notifies them that a family member is missing.

Given the state of the trailer, the guy was probably homeless. He might be registered with a homeless shelter, but if not, I doubt anyone is searching for him.

It's entirely possible that nobody knows enough about the old man to make a formal report: his name, for example, or anything really beyond "old man who used to stay in that camper."
@@christinewolfe5481 Yes, it's true. It's also entirely possible that someone from the area knows his name or they could run the VIN to find out the owners name and place a missing person report. People don't often vanish when they have something of value. It does look like it's been awhile since someone lived in it but someone still should be looked for. At least reported in case family is looking for him.
I can't believe how many, 'left behind by owner' videos there are. This pandemic has caused so much hardship and chaos for so many. I hope things go back to what they were. Unfortunately, many are now out of work, have had to close their businesses. So sad! Thank goodness for rescuers, like yourselves!! Thank you!!
He looked healthy, so I think something happened to his dad. Maybe he was in an accident? Poor dog, he must be so confused. 😔

He looks healthy and there's no sign of abuse, maybe his owner got sick and died and he was left alone :(
That's what I think. Or was in an accident. The dog was healthy, and although he was nervous, he wasn't terrified like he would have been if he had been abused or neglected. He's more confused than anything.

Given that the owner was likely homeless and how LA can be, I'm guessing it wasn't sickness that claimed the old owner.

Read the title and was about to get mad thinking the owner had just up and abandoned him but seeing how calm and kind he was towards everyone makes me think the worst
Im sure the man died. Or maybe ended up in jail, but he didnt willingly abandon the dog or the trailer, I dont think.
That trailer looked pretty rundown. I wonder if Klaus’s human was living in that trailer because they were homeless. So he was loved very much.
I salute these noble hearts!Dogs are our oldest and most loyal companions,they deserve all the care and attention in thier time of need.I am a person of limited means but I have always adopted dogs who were abandoned ,right now I have three with me and each and everyone has turned out to be very loving and wonderful companions!I cannot imagine a life without them,ever.
Its sad to hear that dogs and pets are left behind, but then Hope For Paws comes along and saves their lives.

The dog looked to be in relative good health and weight with no fleas in his unfortunate situation.
The Homeless owner mostly likely had one of three things that might have happened.
(1) he is in a hospital.
(2) he is in jail.
(3) he has died.
Pick one.

One of our dogs was a stray but he obviously came from a decent home. He might've escaped (this dog was quite a scamp in his younger days!) or his owners died, went into nursing home etc. We can't always assume it was an intentional mean act. So happy this guy had a good outcome!

You seem to imply the old owner willingly abandoned Klaus. Willing to bet that wasn't the case.
Doggo was obviously not harmed. Seemed well taken care of and not hostile at all. There any number of reasons why the owner disappeared.
The owner probably died. LA County still has pretty high number of Covid 19 cases.
Everyone needs a backup plan for his dog. If not Animal Control will surely extinguish your dog for you. LA city and county are of the worst, as is my county. LA murders dogs and cats on the hour. Spay and neuter your dog

This is the exact reason why humans have to prepare a Will of some sort regarding their pets. Anything could happen at any time and I would want to make sure my animals are looked after. Poor baby! All alone and confused. Thankfully Eldad is on the scene and will make mountains move for any and all animals. This team of rescuers are angels, HEROS for that matter. Amazing!

I just want to say that I highly encourage everyone to donate, but it’s completely fine and understandable if you can’t.
Vet bills are EXPENSIVE. I have three pets, I had to take my dog to get neutered and do all this beforehand stuff (bloodwork, fecal work, making sure he has no worms or illnesses etc). Not to mention they had to use a heating system cause he was thin so his body couldn’t produce heat while under. All that adds up. So imagine how much these guys spend on the dogs they rescue?
I would donate but I would need my mom’s permission first and since we’re saving up to get a new house she’ll probably say no 😔
Yes it is expensive I have two fur babies. But even if it's a small donation of $5 it helps.

Indeed. My kitty was throwing up and I had to spend $600 on tests just to find out that he simply developed a sensitive tummy now that he is older.
I presume they get some kind of consideration or volume discount.

Don’t judge the circumstances of this owner/dog situation. I believe this wasn’t a case of deliberate abandonment but dire circumstances separated the 2. 💔💔💔
My cat was a stray till my grandma found him. Now he lives with me and my family! :)
