    The team over at Excel Motorworks gave me the awesome opportunity to do one of the most fun comparisons ever! The LS and the 1JZ are two of the most popular engine swaps when it comes to the Nissan 240SX. Today we go through the benefits of each - one with a big turbo 1JZ making 420WHP and a naturally aspirated LS making 420WHP. What has the best for your buck? Which creates an emotional response? Which one is more fun to drive? Today we answer ALL of these questions and find out which engine swap is right for you! Thanks for watching and new uploads on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sundays!

      And then you’re still looking at tearing that motor down before it goes into a car if you’re smart. A brand new Chevy performance center crate LS3 costs that. You’d honestly be better off buying an OEM 2j short block brand new and buying a ported head from one of the various shops if you want to go the 2J route. The other thing to consider is weight. Whatever choice one do, either going with modifying the KA, which is now getting some love after being harshly treated as a "truck engine", or going LS, which some of its cheaper variants many use are literally truck engines, is one's choice and should not be criticized.

    I feel like the turbo k series is becoming the alternative to the ls swap as JF prices keep going insane. Also you can get a new type r crate engine ready to drop in with a computer for less than a stock jz and it only needs a tune to make 350-400

    • @insertname941
      @insertname941 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean ive seen the type r engines used go for 5k to 6.5k is it really that high for a jz engine nowadays? Im looking for an rx7 body or some 80s car like that (just got into initial d recently so my obsessions been reignited) and i think it would be a cool concept to find something higher revving to throw in there that has the reliability and accessability that the rotary doesnt. I just know a k series would be more niche and custom fab work than something familiar like a jz. Yes ive thought of the s2000shigh revving plant for the rx7 but again, not cheap and VERY custom

    I personally either motor is cool. And I'll give people credit for going the 2 or 1jz rout. But to me the ls1 is always my choice. I personally like the sound better and love the feel of naturally aspirated engines over turbo. So some of the points you made for the 1jz being more theatrical or emotional goes to the ls1 just for me personally. Not sure if I'm in the minority or majority with that opinion but I respect either engine big time.
