Regarding the tyre mouldings, the Airfix kit is the more accurate of the two as SWW aircraft all had smooth tyres to save the precious rubber which was in short supply, so having tread is actually wrong.
Tell it like it is, Gary. People have made excuses for Airfix for years, so when they get it right, more power to them. Frankly, your little KP looks great because of the effort you made to finish it. Cheers!
Cheers Randy, the KP isn't intrinsically bad, really, just not as good as the very good Airfix kit. many reasons for this, including their using a different production method, but there are things KP could probably do to make them better...
These kits are always on sale at Hannant's. Like a lot of KP kits, they look good built, but not always a relaxing build. The 109 G-6 (the AZ kit) is a bargain though
Honest and insightful review my friend. As a modeler returning to 1/72 after a few years I think I'd try both. Maybe, with some fiddling, mix n match a few bits and see how it goes so both will appear in the stash. Thanks for the vid mate, 10/10....

Completely agree with your review. Got this as AVM Roderic Hill (there’s no K in his name, as the kit would have you believe…) is a relative. Bought it with excitement, but found some of the aspects frustrating especially the undercarriage. My kits decals were also a bit of a disaster. I eventually adapted a 1/32 kit to good effect, so this one at least served as a good understudy!
Good stuff Andrew, always a delight to be able to model something so personal. Pity the kit isn't up to it but sounds like you got there with the 1/32! Spelling in KP can be dodgy, but then my Czech isn't that strong...
KP has really stepped up their game since the early 90s. Glad they doing these kits with so many variants
