      Thanks Ken. I think I used it 4 times and decided to sell it 10 months later. It was a great boat, just too much for me to handle by myself.

      I didn't keep it for very long. Just didn't hold a candle to my kayak.

      Haha! It was a great little boat.... just not for me. It was too much to use by myself. AND I found that I really preferred the kayak.

    Was just checking out some of your old videos, came across this one! Nice boat, you don't use it much I guess... We have a big Legend fishing boat too but never seem to use it either haha! It's for special occasions... which never seem to come! Haha! I bet that was a fun trip tho! Nice footage!

    • @OldLadyAngler

      Had it for a year and sold it. I definitely preferred my kayak. We took the boat out only a few times. The guy that bought it was ecstatic! I think it had 4 hours on it.

    Found it.. Interesting trip. Thank you for sharing. I can see that would probably be the most challenging part of owning a
    boat....getting in and out of the water. Something we don't typically have to deal with when going out in a kayak. I am sure it won't take you long to get the hang of it.

      JR's Fishing Journals I was happy that I actually got to see the very Southern part of the lagoon. I had never been down that far. seems to be deeper water. Also went into Haul Over canal. Need to go back and fish there for sure.

    That was a nice eco tour you girls took! That was a long haul. It doesn't seem like it unless you've done it, but takes a while. Beautiful day for it. Too bad I had boat problems and we never found each other. I'd have run with you some of the way. The boat wake made me laugh...been there, got wet many times. I suggest slowing down a lot and rolling over the big ones at about a 20 degree angle. One other suggestion...don't back the trailer in so far when loading. You only need to submerge the tips of the bunks. That'll make it easier because you can nose up to it, get the bow in between and against the bunks, then punch it to slide up onto the trailer. You've seen me do it in person, so try it next time. Thanks for sharing the adventure.

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah we were hoping to run into you out there!! Next time for sure! Evidently I did not slow down enough on the wake! haha. On trailering the boat..... we'll definitely try the shallower trailer approach next time. But that dang tide!!!! I could not keep the boat in line with the trailer. Not even close. It was just pulling me right on by. A few other people were trailering at the same time and they were struggling too. But they landed it! The flat bottom on the noe makes it even harder I guess. And my newbie-ness is a big hindrance!! Oh... and those "first scratches" you were talking about..... we don't have to worry about that any more. We have a few barnacle scars from that dock. It didn't happen during the trailering though. Just when we were parked out there.

      You can't come straight in when the current is ripping. It's kind of hard to describe but you come in at an angle with the bow into the current, then pivot at the last second. Think of a plane landing in a crosswind. Maybe when I post the video from yesterday I'll include the full approach so you can see, if it shows up well.

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that's gonna take a bit of practice.... but I'll get it. I want to be able to do the entire process by myself... eventually! Haha.

    I know that spot on Georges Bar. It is one of my favorites...

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's my usual kayak spot. I'm familiar with it and it's only a little more than a mile to paddle in the kayak. I couldn't quite get my gheenoe into the grass far enough to hit any reds.

    • @retiredguyadventures6211
      @retiredguyadventures6211 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      One time I took my yak across Georges Bar at that spot a few years ago. It was so shallow I had to stand and push pole my way across in what I would call snot grass and even then I just barley made it. There were giant reds belly crawling in that stuff...

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Last time I was out there in my yak, the bar was completely exposed. Just imagine if there was someone flying by in a boat ... that wasn't familiar with the area. They'd be high and dry in a heartbeat!!

      where do you launch your yak that it is only a mile? I'm guess the east bank, last ramp?

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes that's exactly right. I launch from Canaveral National Seashore Lot #5.

      Thank you!! You def need to get out there on your kayak. I can't wait to actually get that gheenoe on some fish!! It's a different ballgame than fishing in the yak! Thanks for watching.

    What's that baitcaster you're using?

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      gomertube the bigger one is a Daiwa Lexa 300 HSP and the smaller one is a Shimano Curado 200 I.

    • @gomertube
      @gomertube 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They can both take the salt?

      gomertube yes.

    • @gomertube
      @gomertube 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks I'll have to look in to that Daiwa. I miss using a baitcaster when I'm fishing for reds. I'm not nearly as accurate with my casting on a spinning rig.

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's really none of my business, but please keep wearing that long sleeve (or another like it) out there in the sun.

    • @OldLadyAngler
      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, definitely! This florida sun is HARSH! And when I'm out on the kayak or the boat.... I don't really feel the intensity. Thanks for your concern!

      I fish the TX coast. Along with the skeeters, it can be miserable. Tight lines!

      @OldLadyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love TX! I lived in Dallas for over 26 years. Never fished the coast though!
