    Marty, thank you very much for doing your full resolution edited videos. I know they are behind timewise but they are much much more enjoyable to watch then Mike’s live at five broken crappy looking video. One of the biggest things that we get out of watching your videos is living vicariously through what you are doing. Watching the broken up junkie videos during a live doesn’t put you there. Watching a crystal clear video that you upload makes us feel like we are there with you because of its clarity. Once again thank you for not doing live.

    In a way calling the ICW Inter-Coastal is appropriate, since it is "between" the coastal water ways of several States. Calling it the Intra-Coastal is also fitting since it connecting locations _within_ the borders of these United States.
    With those clowns anchored in the middle of an _ACTIVE_ channel, I would have been very tempted to go through at the maximum speed that was either legal or that my boat could do (whichever was higher). Yes, I admit it, I can be an asshole LOL!

    I cruised the Great Lakes with my brother on his 37 ft sailboat. We only had one engine: a 35 HP three cylinder Volvo diesel engine. But it was a great engine. Many a day we ended motoring when the winds were light or blowing from the wrong direction.
    That engine moved that heavy boat at a steady 7 knots at cruise speed. Not very fast.

    Often times the ICW is just passing through a larger body of water. Easiest way to spot a local vs traveler/tourist is what they call that body of water. The local will often go by real name (i.e. "We're out in Big Lagoon"), while the traveler will just say, "We're on the ICW".

    Marty, if you're going to enjoy this trip... you've got to get a handle on your emotions. Worrying 24/7 will only break down your health/immunities and cause you Physical problems...and I'm speaking from experience. I had to learn that (1) The challenges are NOT permanent and things do get better. (2) If you plan for the worst case scenario, you can and should, let go of the stress. You will not complete this trip if you continue to let every challenge, stress you out and turn you into a zombie with shattered nerves. Remember, you have folks out here not only rooting for you but supplying you with the funds to help with the challenges and to continue your journey... it doesn't get any better than that. I'm rooting for you Marty however, you have got to get ahold of yourself man. Buck up, take charge of yourself... and leave the "worrying" to the Women!

    • @arthurmontana8791
      @arthurmontana8791 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've commended you for thoughtful comments in the past, Lone Wolf. Yet, in some respects, I think you may have this one wrong. Marty's handling the trials and tribulations of the adventure very well. His worry and frustrations are totally understandable. There's been a tremendous amount of wind in the past six weeks, which can wear you down overtime. Add to that these nagging engine issues, and a certain amount of distress is unavoidable. I am sure Marty knows that the challenges " are not permanent". That's of little comfort when one is in the heat of a challenge. Planning for "the worst case scenario" is seldom possible. How does one plan for sinking your boat or drowning? The key is avoiding these and other type catastrophes. Doing so on a cruising vessel requires hundreds of decisions each week. Some of the toughest decisions are close calls, and that gives rise to worriment. While it is true that worriment doesn't, in and of itself, make circumstances better, it can heighten one's level of alertness. This can be a good thing; helping one avoid catastrophe with split-second decisions that may be delayed if one is too relaxed. Certainly, extended, uninterrupted worriment is deleterious to one's emotional wellbeing. Yet, Marty is taking breaks from cruising by remaining in safe anchorages for awhile, which gives him time to regroup and relax.

    • @LoneWolf-ni1zj
      @LoneWolf-ni1zj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arthurmontana8791 I agree that they have had more than their fair share of challenges however, Marty is an emotional mess. He can't sleep, he's stressed, constantly worrying etc. He has got to pull himself up by his bootstraps and toughen up a bit or he will never finish the loop and destroy his channel in the process. I will encourage but I will never sugarcoat. The kind of stress he's putting himself under, can also put him in danger. He needs to take a deep breath and CHILL! I like Marty but I don't do Drama.

    • @arthurmontana8791
      @arthurmontana8791 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LoneWolf-ni1zj Perhaps I missed the report about Marty "constantly worrying" and "can't sleep". What vLog episode revealed that information? The episode before this showed a relaxed shore leave for some beer. In this episode, though Marty mentioned feeling stress over the engine trouble, that's not the type of stress that will "put him in danger". It is normal stress imposed by a significant mechanical issue. Marty also attributed some of his stress to the shrimp-boat blocked channel, but that was just an off-the-cuff, slice-of-life comment; the opposite of a chronic stressor. In this episode, Marty also expressed relief at leaving the wind-whipped mooring field, and at the end of the vLog he seemed to be looking forward to finding a protected marina to chill at before resuming the voyage. Relief and positive, forward-looking thoughts are indicative of a sense of wellbeing. At the very end, Marty said he was going to enjoy a beer and "hit the sack"; hardly the behavior of an over-stressed man.
