Great video lad. My nan and grandad were actually the main reason why Midleton reopened. They lobbied real hard for it and now they have a set of switch levers an a plaque recognising what they did in the garden. They live right beside the station. Left when walking out the station gates. :D
@@irishrailtrains yeah. Few chaps want to turn it into a greenway. Won't ever go to youghal via the original route. Weather a new one is established or not is anybodies guess.
@@irishrailtrains by far but whats hapoening is happening. You can say the same for the mullingar athlone line. Wouldve been a great line in both Preservation or national network. What has happened has happened I suppose.
@@Spud607 Fair enough if you want a greenway but at least keep the railway there like the Athlone - Mullingar line, at least it's preserved somewhat if there was ever enough demand to open it, just wish all greenways would follow that example.
Fully agree, greenways aren't beneficial to communities along abandoned lines, but of course the government won't invest in railways, they'd rather fill their pockets instead just like they have always done. If they really want to reduce carbon emissions railways are they way to go really, but of course they don't think with common scene!
Great video of the CART , Cork Area Rapid Transit. We have a lot of four car 2600 units operating from time to time. Before Covid the early Midleton to Cork at 07:45 used to be packed hence a four car was on this.
Nice video Stephen, great bark out of those 2600’s when they are opened up. You should travel on one Cork- Tralee. An hour and a half that you won’t need any entertainment for!
Excellent Shots Stephen!😃.Were the Train Services being used much from and to Cobh and Midleton Train Stations?.Did many board and alight the Train Services at Glounthaune Train Station?.
The two units passing at 1:02 is interesting -looks like they both switch to dipped headlights when near eachother before going back to full beam, correct? To prevent dazzling the other driver I assume...

Glad you enjoyed it, oh very nice, fair play to them, glad their efforts paid off in the end, just a pity the line won't ever be extended to Youghal.

@@Spud607 That Greenway is complete waste of money I think. A railway would be far more beneficial to the town.

What a beautiful little railway system .
It reminds me of the werry lines in the east of England such a unique system
We must restore our country's railway system to the way it was years ago
EVERYWHERE!

Thank you. Services were every hour on each line, and they were fairly full too. A decent amount of people boarded the train at Glounthaune.

Can passengers actually walk through the gangways to get to the other train set?
Brilliant shots Stephen. Was that Myrtle Hill crossing at 18:09 ?
Thanks Rob, it was indeed!

Yes in fact that is where I stayed, nice vantage point there alright.
I like the 2600 there the closest train to a sprinter or a uk train there is in Ireland
Is there anybody on these trains apart from the driver?
