I used to install the color coded tape strip that ran vertically in the middle of the front grill as well as the carpet than covered the rear floor storage door in 6 passenger wagons at the Lynch Road Plant in 1977. Fun times, 59 cars per hour for 9 hours.
You probably built a 78 monaco crestwood my family had. Built in November, 1977 at Lynch Road. It was a 9-passenger 360 2bbl. Lots of options...CB/am/fm, power windows/locks, road wheels, etc. Lean burn sucked...ended up putting regular ignition on it. Have to say that build was pretty rough on it...lots of loose ends...but it served us well. Would be a cool car to make a sleeper out of now.
There was a second Monaco called the Royal Monaco with a different body, the same as the Plymouth Gran Fury. That particular Monaco was an ultra-stripped Fleet version used by taxi companies and police departments. My uncle had a 1977 Gran Fury. I loved it. Like all Mopars of that time, it rusted away in five years in the Minnesota weather.
I had the 78.... with every available option, except 8 track, mine had the nice split power bucket seats...worked and ran great, needed nothing, sold it when i moved across country... why oh why did i do that?
I had 1978 for 17 years, still miss her.
