    What a lovely machine. A nicely produced video as well with simple straightforward camera work and clear speech.

    I saw one of these back in the 1970's it was non functional, derelict and rusty but almost identical to your Atco except it had a rope spool (pull start) instead of a pedal start. I was thrilled to see and hear your example in running condition for the first time.

    My Dad had one of these in the 60’s. The clutch was different, larger, with a cork face. The handles were wood. Same muffler and carby. The kick starter and fuel tank including the cap were the same. We also had a grass catcher that clipped onto the front. It was was pretty well worn out, blew a lot of smoke. I think we were running it on an 8:1 fuel mix. I learnt a lot about 2 stroke engines with it. I was particularly adept at stripping down the carby and rebuilding. Lots of great memories.

      Great mowers aren't they, so well built and so simple too...many thanks Steve

      Yep, there were cone type clutches like this one and cork plate clutches like you had. Also a variety of mufflers: pepper pot and sausage. A range of air cleaner types, too.

    Lovely old mower Paul. I had one sim ilar years ago and got it running but the main hearing seals had gone. I think they were Villiers engines on those mowers.. Very simple to take apart and put back together.
    Thanks for showing us your Vintage Atco.
    Best wishes from

    What a thrill for me mate, I am a mechanic, or was before retiring, and The first thing I ever worked on when I was young was lawn mowers but never anything so nice as that. Would love to get my hands on one of them. Thank you very much for sharing this.

    I have the exact same mower, although not in as fine condition as yours, not been run for a couple of years as it lost its spark due to a broken H.T. lead, i must pull it out of the shed and have a tinker with it at some point.

  • @Bevoin1970
    @Bevoin1970 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Ah my fav mower, and Boy does she look good too!
    Did you restore her Paul or did you buy her that way?
    I still use mine every week, and she works brilliantly, I use the 12" one when the grass cutting season first begins, then I switch to using the 17" one there after. Just saves me having to keep changing the roller height
    Keep her running Paul. :-)

      You must have it in gear, if you move the lever out of gear it should be free both ways. Many thanks.
