  • Peru's Rolex Case: Police Raids President Boluarte's House | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Peruvian police raided the President's house on Saturday. Twenty members of Peru's "Highly Complex Investigations" Division broke through the door of President Dina Boluarte's residence. They are investigating her in what's being called the "Rolex Case". A local media outlet in Peru went through thousands of pictures of Boluarte and concluded that she owns 14 luxury watches. Boluarte was an official in Peru's government record keeping office before becoming president. But she claims she saved money and bought her luxury watches over time. Is the Peruvian President corrupt, or is this a plan to oust her? Peru does have a legacy of prosecuting presidents.

As a state employee, her monthly salary up to the day she became Vice President was 4500 Peruvian Soles, equal to U$ 1,210. As a Peruvian I can't help feeling so embarrased by these news presented by Palki Sharma. Dina Boluarte as all our previous presidents since year 2000, are, as Palki Sharma said, either in jail or waiting to be judged by corruption.

Man if the RCMP would just kick down Trudeaus door and cease his bank accounts till we find where all the money went. It sure didn’t go to help Canadians or our military.

What is the big deal about Rolex watches? I bought mine in LA. 20 years ago it only cost $65. After 3 months most of the gold rubbed off, 2 months later it stopped running and no jewelry shop was willing to work on it.

Rolex seems to be the choice watch of a certain type of folk. It is alleged that the First Lady of Guyana, Arya Ali, bought 20 Rolex watches on one of her shopping sprees. Unlike Peru, nothing will come of that.

Ridiculous! Who holds the power in this country? The reason why presidents or people holding higher constitutional office is privileged with immunity is exactly to prevent law enforcements misusing their power, prevent coup like situations! This is crazy!
