The choose your own adventure is a good idea, but it's easier executed in visual novels in the form of a videogame basically. Can return to your last decision at the push of a button.
Your thumbnail healed me on a spiritual level. Memories of my first book came flooding back- a catastrophy played by a symphony. Amazing video all the same!
I've only just recently come across your channel and just wanted to say a big thank you for all the amazing content you provide. I have a goal to finish a first draft by the end of 2020 but I have so many exciting story ideas I find myself jumping between them. After working on one of them for a bit the excitement wears off and I jump to the next one and the pattern repeats. Any advice to help stay focused on one story at a time?
Thank you! This is a great question and one I get all the time. It’s my experience that every story has a “honeymoon” phase. For me, it wears off around the 10-15% mark. I find that if I commit to the story and push through even if I’ve lost the commitment, the passion will come back. My advice for your situation would be-see how many words you get into your story before you lose interest. Then, commit to writing at least that many words (is doubling your word count) before you determine if the story needs to be dropped. This way, you’ll double your momentum and word count and it’ll increase your chances of finding that passion again. Plus, you’ll be less likely to back out since you’ve written so much. 🤞🏾Not easy, but it can work. Good luck with your first book!
I have this problem on my first day of writing, all these new ideas pop into my head but they don't at all fit with each other to be considered in the same novel. I'll never make any progress lol
Wow! I’m legitimately interested in the book. The trademark story is interesting. Haha I’m sure one a lot of people regret. As for ambitious, this project had it in spades!
@@thedisabledwelshman9266 Yes his books are on Amazon. His fiction books are under the name Michael La Ronn. His nonfiction books are under the name M.L. Ronn.
Chose you own adventure books! I loved those! Especially Silverstar (3 or 4 books) and Whitewolf (somewhere around 6-8 books). Holy heck! :D But they must surely be very hard to write though?
I just found your channel. Nice video, very interesting. I used to LOVE Goosebumps, choose your path were my favorites. I always cheated and peeked ahead LOL
Not sure if you know about this, but there is a huge community for these types of stories, called Interactive Fiction, and there's a website called ifdb.tads.org/ where you can experience works like this. The only thing that's different is that yours is a book, and these are "games", but otherwise, the same concept! :D
I think your research preparation for this adult choose-your-own-adventure book failed to consider that this genre has evolved: they're called narrative-focused video games. The market is huge and not limited to Kindle owners.
forget trade marks and get the copyright registration number yourself, its easy, no lawyer required. Use ISBN numbers. The owner of the ISBN is the publisher, don't let a self pub like amazon give you the ISBN, if so, they are the publisher and not you. Anyone can buy and assign ISBN numbers.
I think the book sounds very interesting. The name was good but too bad it didn't have indications of supernatural in it as i feel that would have opened interest to people who eat up those kinds of books.
To be honest, I'm 5:33 in, and this book sounds like it had everything in it, the idea, needed to be exceptionally shiny. At 2:19 though, you say "Where are the choose your own adventures for adults?" and it made me grin, because those are called books =P
No, the original is completely out of syndication, but there were very little changes when I rebranded it other then some minor formatting updates. It’s still the same book.
@@AuthorLevelUp Thanks! I'm very tempted to grab it as a curiosity! It has so many ideas that I can tell you were super passionate about writing. I'll leave the link here should anyone else be interested also since I think you have to click see more to find it! www.michaellaronn.com/magicsouls
The contract you weren't aware of is an ancient story. God creates man without anyone being asked if they wanted to exist, He puts them under contract they didn't know they would be subjected to. He sets up impossible to believe scenarios and then proceeds to enjoy taunting and torturing the fallible creatures he set up to lose no matter what happens or what they do. Thank Dog its just a meme and myth.
Did anyone actually buy those Choose Your Own Adventure books? They can only be read once, technically, unless you want to explore all possible.endings.
Great video, as usual! Thank you for being vulnerable enough to share your experiences, both positive and negative!
Thank you for sharing a part of your writing journey. It was good to hear. Also, I loved those chose-your-own-adventure books too. Peace.
I loved those books, and I loved the Black Mirror movie that was a choose your own adventure!
I'm 34 and I remember choose your own adventures. My personal favorite was a video game/vr adventure
Great video love all the info! I'm in the process of revising/ editing my first novel and this is all good to know
I wish you all the best! It's so much work, but totally worth it.
Choose Your Own Adventure . . . I've forgotten about these.
Great video and thanks for sharing your story!!

The concept where your MC has to take the souls of 3 innocent people reminds me of the plot of The Devil and Max Devlin.

It was a great idea, you should have added animations.
Outro song?
Wait, between 2012 and 2019 you wrote over 50 books??
You should have made it a visual novel XD right now I’m writing an interactive novel too
It would have been a lot of fun as a visual novel, but veeeeery expensive. :(

Most countries will honor your US trademark.
Most but not all. I decided that the legal risk wasn’t worth it, even small. Especially since it was my first book.
