We were told what was wrong with top thrill dragster 2 when that went down after opening and same with Voltron’s but can’t remember what it was. Merlin need to get there finger out especially if we get a universal park in Bedford
I heard a rumor that a chicken got stuck in the lift chain, then a bystander rushed onto the lift hill to rescue the chicken only to have his arms ripped apart, the flesh then was carried up to the top of the hill and got stuck in the motor, this caused it to cease operation and a new motor had to be installed, that was until the engineer installing it suffered a crippling panic attack and fell to his death.
Love the vids, but the comment about the smiler is totally wrong. People deliberately overrode the system without doing a proper check of why the ride correctly stopped people on the lift hill. It's important to get this right.
I was told it was because the smiler did not have a sensor to tell the other train not to go until the other train had cleared. So when the carriage vallied the other one did not stop and hit it because of human error do you have an artical or video you can point me too, Thanks for watching 😁
Thorpe Park have commented on some threads it's not a safety issue, I was there on opening day and going again Sunday, fingers crossed it's open to ride again
They need to hurry up an tell us a date, I have pre booked and paid overnight stay and train ticket to travel 200miles across the country for Monday coming.
I've been taking advantage of a less busy Thorpe Park. I've had more rides on Stealth this year than ever before. However, the closure of Hyperia must be hitting Thorpe Park's P&L bottom line.
The problem is, if as a result of this shambles Hyperia doesn't drive visitor numbers (a la Swarm in 2012), we could be waiting another 12 years for a major coaster.
@@Coaster_Contrarian Swarm didn't have particularly good reviews when it opened. I've always felt Swarm is OKish but nothing special. Hyperia is getting very positive reviews, and is a different kettle of fish. It should really increase Thorpe Park's reputation.
@@andrewlevick1015 not if the initial hype has dissipated. How many people will make extended return journeys this season, especially if they sunk hundreds of pounds into a trip only to get burned?
@@Coaster_Contrarian If TP can keep Hyperia running reliably for a few weeks, the customers will come in droves especially during the school holidays. They have really tried to rebrand themselves with eg Sparkle project, and deserve to do well.

I can't help thinking that if you have got any hopes of being invited to future Merlin press events it's probably unwise to maybe piss them off by doing surreptitious recording?
When I started this channel, I always said that no matter what we did I wouldnt sell out, I can go to parks and be free to give my opinion 100% Will not be sucking up unless the park buys me dinner 1st 😘
I think this is why we've seen almost no UK vloggers commenting on the closure in any meaningful way. Not criticising MACK or the park. Noted that loads were just invited for a jolly to Splash Landings. Funny that the actual guest experience is nothing like in the resulting videos.

They’re stress testing the lift hill, it’s not structural, it’s the sprocket that broke and needed replacing

Hyperia officially opens again tomorrow & I reckon the queue times will be 4hrs plus but thorpe is only open from 10am to 5pm tommrow
