- Earlier this month I made my way over to Mesa, Arizona get a look at what I missed in my previous home tour video. After getting that footage I decided to head over to their factory to get a behind the scenes look at how they're building. In this video you'll see how they're building the Zennihome models and what changes they're making to increase production. Watch and get a behind the scenes look inside the Zennihome factory.

“Capri pants,” “rocket surgeon”. Worth watching just for those.BTW, some of us are old enough to remember when capri pants were called pedal pushers. Don’t ask why.
😂, yup!!!
haha!
He could have a been a kid in the hall
Won’t get ur pants caught in the chain of the bike.
Maybe cos you don't get grease or oil on the ankle part of your fancy pant
This is the real deal, not like that Box company that can't even get approvals. Very impressive!
thanks for watching!
72 year old here, so bear with me when I say: Sweet man, you felt like you got your hand slapped, but you made a very informative video in response for the cost of travel. Thank you for that.
Thanks for watching
Great tour, thanks, Kerry. You can tell this guy is an honest hard worker, not a city slicker with a sales pitch. 👍🏼🙏🏘
Glad you enjoyed it Joe!
That closet is pretty cool. Good to circle back on that. Cool unit.
I think so too!
Oh man, Kerry is one fun TH-camr. Love the content, love the comments, the dry humor, and the sometimes slightly awkward video footage of him trying to record when there are too many people around. Keep this tone, love it!
Haha the clips posted are the least awkward, keep that in mind 😆
🤣🤣🤣 Very relatable.
You’ve got your finger square on the future of housing for humans. Nice work. Keep us posted!
Thank you! Will do!
This is how you grow a TH-cam fan base / audience. Kerry Kares! (as a bumper sticker)
thank you! haha I like it
Who is Kerry? His name is Terry Karnow :)
I love to see companies adapt real world sensible strategies.
You rock Mr. Tarnow! Thank you for traveling virtually everywhere to show the latest options in smaller homes. Enjoy your content and self deprecating sense of humor.
Thanks for the follow up video. Zenni is a winner
my pleasure!
I found the production tour fascinating!
It seems I come across the comments from many prefab companies saying that scaling up to meet demand (& profit goals) has been a significant hurdle, & often is the reason cited for abandoning prefab production. It seems like American Made is on the right course.
Kerry, you're the "Rocket surgeon" of prefab.... you're a mixed metaphor, but a thorough and helpful one!
hahaha
I think he meant to say brain scientist. 😏
Forgive him, he's not very old. 😉
IMO Kerry was using a Canadian homage to Don Cherry (Coaches Corner from Hockey Night in Canada)
Rocket Surgeon🤣😂
Wish government would encourage homes like this in Australia . 🇦🇺 what beautiful little home so sensible. Watching from Brisbane Australia 👍
thanks for tuning in!
Thanks, Kerry. This video was so satisfying I watched it twice ... Zenni Home is going to be unstoppable!
wow! glad you enjoyed it
Kerry - I really appreciate the run through a 2nd time. And the factory tour is great. Nice 🤓 glasses!!
🥶🖤🔔👍🏻❤️
Thanks so much! 😊
I was just there filming both model homes and did a factory tour the next day myself. So far I only have the Citizen uploaded. I got to see that stud machine in action. It's pretty cool. JR was cool. I met him while I was there.
nice!
Thanks Nate, pleasure meeting you too!
Love your channel Kerry. Keep-em coming.
Thanks so much!
OK, Kerry, you failed to show us where they build the closets, so back to the factory for you! 😂
Hahaha 🤪
The closet is built from the company Ori Living, they build a few different pieces of moving furniture.
Thanks Kerry. Revisit was worth it! Stacking W/D & on demand water heater great inclusions. The electric closet awesome. Also to see these are built with metal frames. And WOW: they can be stacked?! Super cool!! Pretty much a new favorite!!
Love the follow up. The technical was much appreciated. I followed everything he was saying. Formation follows function here. Pretty cool stuff. They've got the system working for their needs. The steel-to-stud device will forever grow from here. It's great to see these devices implemented in different situations.
thanks for tuning in!
Nice one Kerry, way to clean up the omits lol. My Citizen is in that line of covered units you walked by at the end. The unit is finished, and the contractors are waiting, the county permits are the hang up UGH! Thanks for the update, they've made some great updates at the factory since I was there. I like the intelligent glasses look 🙂
Wiehoo! Best of luck. We are also in line for for a citizen. But a bit further away. Would love to hear your journey. Is it possible for Kerry to go to the individuals who purchased certain new prefab or modular homes??
7:36 MST The very best to @j.r.r2185 I'm hoping you'll share your experience. What part of the country are you located?
@@papayafun7226 Good question, I don't think he has done something like that before, but I would invite him if he asked.
@@happygoodjohn I'm in Az, about an hour south of Phoenix. I'm not a youtuber but I've met a couple of youtubers that I've met that want to post the experience when I move in.
So excited for you to get your unit!
Ok, I can see why people were upset… that is a very awesome closet!
Kerry has toured another Zennihome where he did show the pull out storage as well as the the VERY expensive drop down bed.
Very interesting to see the assembly process ! 👍
As a This Old House fan, a How Its Made fan,and stealth furniture fan (not to mention the in line hugely efficient hot water heater) this episode was just what I didn't know I needed. You rock, dude. :D
Thank you!!
Great tour. From a manufacturing and cost standpoint l, they’re definitely heading the right direction!
As always, well done!
Thank you kindly!
I’m so excited to see my dream coming true!! Been on the list awhile and soooo grateful to you Kerry for first showing me this amazing home and to Bob for brilliance and warmth causing me to cherish this opportunity!!
That was Avery informative interview. Thanks for going back and showing those missed opportunities. These homes are cool. They are great for ADU, but I see Tiny home communities, or Air BNB. As always thanks for sharing your passion with us. Oh like the hair and glasses, slay ...
You had me at Capri pants. 😂 Thanks for making my day. I still have over eight minutes left. What else!?!
Haha!
These videos are like therapy. Another great one. I like that these aren't crazy expensive. Also, very curious about the cost of building/buying a warehouse like that.
Glad you're enjoying the videos!
At least 2 million for a factory. Depending on what you build it with
I really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of one of the many prefab companies. I have been following the use of FrameCad for a while now and I believe that its utilization is integral to the success of panelized construction for both prefab and traditional building methods. Great job on this one!
Very cool tour. I really enjoyed learning about the whole assembly process and how they have improved it. Cheers!
Glad to hear it
Very interesting video. Thank you for showing the factory and what all that goes into making these homes.
Glad you enjoyed it
Rocket surgeon had me dying.😂😂😂
This was a great tour and interview. Very interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I would imagine that Zenni employs a lot of my Navajo brothers and sisters which is awesome being that now they don't need to travel so far out of the Navajo nation to make a living. Good vid.
thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
So interesting! Thank you, Kerry.
My pleasure 😃
Everyone loves a secret closet!
Haha true
Thanks, Kerry!
Any time!
I like the red Devo construction hat they gave you.
Hey Kerry - you rock the safety gear!
And thanks for going back. I admit I wasn’t so concerned about where those things were, but it is good to see. Thanks again!
Thanks!
Great video, Kerry ! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Worth seeing again. Cheers.
thanks!
Dude you rock! Thank you!!
Thanks for tuning in!
Impressive stats. Wonderful homes.
Thanks for watching
Great Job Kerry ! Nice hair and humor , video extra effort goes a long way ! It’s never easy to get up and running but it’s that adapt n move onward !
Glad you enjoyed it
Interesting factory tour.
Thanks!
nice work Kerry
thanks!
Terry good 👍
Haha
Great questions Kerry, K, K, I like that, huh, I like that, K. Just jabbing you😂
😂
Henry Ford used this type of assembly line production to build his automobiles over 100 years ago.
Right & what many people forget, without automation, things would cost orders of magnitude more if we didn't have automation.
Great follow up video. That said, would like to know what shipping and site installation is expected to cost(!?)
guess I'll have to follow up the follow up
lol
That is all covered at the company's website.
Their larger model is $8 a mile and the smaller is $4 a mile to ship. Installation is done with a general contractor, so that can cost anywhere between $30,000 - $50,000 depending on who is hired, and where the buyer is located
Great tour! High efficiency, I hope, translates into lower total costs, and consumers will realize benefits of shorter lead times as well as dollars saved to purchase.
Glad you enjoyed it
What you forgot is so important. Glad you are doing it now.
Would you compare this manufacturer to boxable? Thank you.
I would say if you look up the individuals who are running and started Zennihomes you will see the differences there, if nothing else. Quality is no comparison as well. Zennihome so superior with design and materials used. WIll be on a actual foundation base, no wheels! They also had their ducks in a row before they offered investing and purchasing.
Zenni has been quick to bask in the elan of the trail blazed by boxable and to politely give kudos for the inspirations of Tesla folk. Wonderful to see such supportive attitudes!
Hahahaha The begin of this video is so funny. Nice tour of the Arizona facility. Could probably hang out there to find out how they do it more. This company and Boxabl seem to have it together. 💜🐬🚘🍀🏡✅🌎🏄🏻♂️💰🎁🛸🎶
Glad you enjoyed it!
I appreciate your excellent utubes
I appreciate that!
You are so handsome
This home is with reality. Most tiny homes don’t even think of a closet. Washer and dryer is a must. I love this home. What’s the price.
the smaller home starts at 90k
Very nice
thanks
I really like this company and hope I wasn't one of the dummies that I was shaking my head at .. but who knows, love the closet and hidden bed
Can these homes maintain cool internal temps in Phoenix summers?
Thanks Kerry for the factory tour etc but the best part is the closet that slides. You didn’t show us where the button is they push to make that happen.
Go back to @1:06.
sounds like the 'unboxed' new manufacturing push by Tesla!
Yes!
I really want to see both in action
A post credit scene. How MCU of you. 🦹
Love the glasses. Makes you look distinguished. Almost like you’re going to critique literature. 👓
Great factory walkthrough Kerry. It’s always informative to hear about how a given company does things. 😎
Nice homes very streamlined,mahalo
Thank
All of these pre-fabs you show, do you have any info on where they are going or, demographics on who is buying them? You've seen a lot of these, what in your opinion is the average cost (I understand there is a range, customizability, shipping cost, etc).
I got my Euro and Greek linen capri pants in storage, only problem is I may not fit into size 32 anymore! but at least I have a place to store them now1
haha!
Zennihome!!!!!!!
Yeah!
Ok...been wanting to ask this for ages and now that you put on thee glasses like you did....you must be related to Sussane Craig - Canadian investigative journalist?
haha no relation
I think you showed the closet function, I didn't realize that's where the fridge was.
At 1:06. The electronic closet is a nice magic trick but I'd rather the closet manually slide on a track. The closet is small. There's no need to complicate the closet with electronics that will break and incur costly repairs.
great feedback, thanks David
Kerry do you know if they can ship to Maui?
They are only licensed in AZ for now, but Zennihome is working on licenses in other states!
Now I see why Page seemed to be tremendously industrial the last time I was there....
Could be part of the reason for sure
your Canadian if 4 hours drive is quick, someone filming you, nice red hard hat.
Haha good point
Details Matter!
100%
Not Kerry thinking he can determine fashion trends! Hint: Capri pants never go out of style! They are a summer staple for any lady over 50.
haha! they do seem like they would bridge the gap during shoulder season
Just like camo pajamas for men!
Any new info on the LG Smart Cottage?
No, I need to follow up. Thanks for the reminder
What price range did they quote for these prefab homes?
They start at 90k
Thank you for listening to us trolls in the comments. We will allow you to cross the bridge unscathed should you seek passage over our abode.
haha!
😂
where do you get your T-shirts from
This is the shirt I’m wearing at the start: www.legends.com/products/aviation-tee-curved-hem-nightshadow?variant=42706709643436
I got a large and its borderline too big
@@KerryTarnow much appreciated, keep up the great work
Wow, ummm like seriously,...people were lamenting over not seeing the closet? LOL! You forgot to show us the space under the bed.
Hahaha!
Liked
Thanks
Problem here is you can still build a home from the ground up for a lot cheaper. The small one is $280/sf and the large one is $195/sf, and that's before delivery and installation. Add that in, and it's $300-500/sf easy. Even being furnished, it's just not worth it.
Couldn't agree more, the way some tiny home manufacturers are pricing their products, defies logic and sanity.
👍
Does this model set up need a septic system
Depends on the lot. If there is access to city sewer it wouldnt
Very cool. Sturdy design and the inside design features are a really great design. A home that is user friendly. Outstanding.
Thanks for the excellent information from this company. Always enjoy your videos.
😎🇺🇸💪🍺
Thank you very much!
Can you get this without the sliding closet?
You can
Don't let it happen again Kerry...😁😁
Oh I’m sure I will 😆
I enjoy your videos very much. I just wish you would more clearly state the name of the manufacturer, and the location.
I will try! Their website is always in the description
Dude..great presentation..nice product… There’s no chance mischievous friends or kids can prank and lock you in that closet, automatically?? probably an override on the button like on a van door ..
I actually tested the bed lowering onto my head while sitting on the couch. Any resistance and it stops so guessing the closet is the same.
TBI traumatic bed injury?
Nice peeps!😂
Haha
They are building those homes like Boeing assembles their airplanes.
Sub- assemblies to the main assembly.
Is it supposed to look like a trailer?
I love Capri pants. Seriously. Are they out?
Haha! I honestly have no idea 😆
You forgot to show how the workout room works
lol!
I was really into Zenni home when they first came out. I thought i might buy one.. Not so much anymore. Still a little bit bent about the pricing increase.
thank you for the feedback
I don’t see where we can order them. Nobody tell us where to order
check their website
Before we start...lemme guess, its $975k like all these other tiny homes seem to be..
Haha
How much for a unit?
they start at 90k
So, roughly $300/sqft?
Dude, hang on a second, are those blue light glasses? We need to talk,
haha no they aren't
I'VE ASKED U A NUMBER OF TIMES IF WE IN THE UK CAN BUY THOSE MADE IN THE USA...!!!!!!!!!
Right now they’re just operating in the US
