I know this had to be bitter sweet. My grandmother passed away & my dad kept her house. We've left everything like she had it & we still have our family get togethers over there as if she was still with us. Yall are doing an awesome job. I was thinking the mantle needed to be much thickier & just like that....bam!! It turned out beautiful. I think that moody deep navy blue almost black would of been beautiful...a lil softer, or matte black. However it looks great. Cant wait to see the rest!! Are yall leaving grandmaws room alone or redoing it too??? Just curious.

Daddy plumbed Ms. Doris' house. I went to work with him one day when he was working on her house. (I was maybe 9 or 10.) I remember they had put up wall paper in some of the rooms upstairs and I thought they were beautiful. If memory serves me, there was a silver, reflective wall paper that looked sort of like mirror. The front room is looking beautiful! Y'all are doing your Memaw proud!

I love the fireplace in black and windows trimmed in wide trim. I mostly love that your mom is moving into grandmas house. You have made it look fabulous !!
I wouldnt have painted the fireplace black, but irs not my home. You do you. Not many windows, the room is quite dark, i prefer white or tan. I would probably have stripped the white paint off, leave the original brick color. Thats coming back strong now. Great job though, looks very very nice and pretty! Im so sorry for the loss of your Grandmother! It is very difficult to go on.When my Mother passed in 2017, it just about crushed and ended me!

Sorry for your loss. I did the same thing to my paneling last year in my living room, and I filmed it on my channel. I was too scared remove the panel because I did not know what was back there. It was lab intensive, but I like it. Added horizontal molding across it..

Maybe lower the floor because there's one step from the living room to wherever else. That will be hard as your mother ages. The step where they're opening up that doorway.
