    We have a filmy saying in India....."Picture abhi baaki hai mere dost", which translates, the picture has yet to be completed my friend.
    Magnus is a bit out of shape before this game, but the way he handled 10 moves of preparations of team Caruana and blitzed in engine moves after that, shows how unbelievably powerful he is. I am very excited after this match. I don't know who will win ultimately but at least for me, Magnus Carlsen deserves to retain his title. Pardon my emotion but just sharing my opinion.

      @@kilimanjarno Totally agreed....but to be honest, only one issue is making things sour in my mind....For either side, 3-4 strong grandmasters aided with a supercomputer making preparations.....that means for 10-15 moves will be blitzed out without even thinking and those will be Engine moves......sadly the trend of top chess tournaments have come to this. If only there is something to stop this, otherwise chess will be over by next 10 years as computer of tomorrow might solve chess and predict, e4-e5 black down by 1 full point or something crazy like this....so no grandmaster will play e4-e5. I think it's a bit disingenuous to say that Carlsen was playing against an engine, almost completely taking the credit away from a 2800 player. Not the same is said when carlsen plays to his preparation, we do not know how much of the preparation was human contribution or indeed Caruana's contribution but to bluntly state that he is just playing against an engine is a but unfair on Fabiano.

    • @PaulSchober
      @PaulSchober 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      True enough, but I think the meaning is that Magnus is playing against "half" an engine. He has to counter perfect memorized moves for the first half of the game, and it's nearly impossible for a human to come out of that equal. So he's gonna always be a little behind when it's human vs human.

    • @PointlessNihilist
      @PointlessNihilist 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it’s more than a bit unfair. I think some people are a little bit biased. Caruana can do no right in their eyes. If he didn’t play well they would just call him inferior. When he does play well, they say it’s just engine moves. People should give the man some credit.

      I agree the criticism is a bit hyperbolic. I'm pretty sure everyone concedes that Caruana is a fantastic player, but I think most are just a little saddened that the "romantic" days of guys like Morphy and Tal are pretty much over, and if you don't memorize engine lines for 8 hrs a day, you're gonna be behind the 8 ball after 20 moves against someone who does.

    I think Carlsen will win the next game. This game tells us something crucial that I'm sure Carlsen understand now. Caruana without engine moves that he has memorized is not as strong as Carlsen. Not even near. So far, the entire series has been Caruana pressuring Carlsen and Carlsen escaping. Just like Caruana played that Rook move that got us the great Carlsen stare, Carlsen has to dare do the same thing. He has to play something which Caruana can't prepare for. Only that way will Carlsen be Victorious.
    I'm prediticting Carlsen wins 1 with the rest drawn.

    • @nickshtenikov1261
      @nickshtenikov1261 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Unfortunately, much more probable end is the lost of Carlsen to one of the Caruana's tricky openings. he was on the edge a lot of times, but only the end of Fabi's preparation and talant saved him - but how long it can continue? I like carlsen for his gift and sober reception of the game - but everybody had in school class mediocre guy with hypertrophed memory. He was beloved by teachers and hated by pupils - and succesful in learning...

    First of all, thank you, agdamator, for the excellent commentaries on this match. As to your question of thoughts on the match, I agree with one of your remarks from a previous video that rules should be introduced to favor playing more risky positions. Possibly keep the current champion if the challenger can't win by a point in regular play. True, they are also insanely good with shorter time controls, but I miss the great matches we used to see from Tal, Fischer, and Kasparov with long time controls. I'm not yet convinced that computers have completely killed the possibility of Tal-like creativity, but we're certainly not seeing it here.

    i feel like fabis prep is so much better than carlsens for some reason. I mean imo Carlsen is the better player, but fabi seems like he is better prepared and shapes the games that way. I may be wrong tho.

    • @aohbmaeid
      @aohbmaeid 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Caruana is relying much more on preparation than over the board thinking, opposite to Carlsen. However, in games where Fabi is white, he decides the lines the game can go into, so his preparation will be much more apparent, such as in this game, since he prepared everything that could come out of this position for the first 20 or so moves.

    I love that the world chess championship goes to rapid and blitz if classical games are all even. The reason for this is because with the power of these new super computers chess is veering away from a game about deductive logic and strategy and turning into a memorization game. If chess fully turns into a memorization game it's done and no one will watch or be interested in it. Caruana is less of a great chess player and more of an expert at memorization. Were as carlen is truly a master chess player.

    For those stating Caruana just runs bot lines and can't play well outside of prepared moves, this game was unique after move 13. Caruana held an advantage until the high 20s to even 31. He's a perfectly exceptional player, he is just facing someone who knows how to force a draw. Something to also note is that there are very few preparations one can make as black, when facing Magnus. Yet, Caruana has managed to force a draw as black 4 times so far.
    Pick your favorite, pretend there's an subtle or obvious edge to one or another; but in reality these guys are truly as close as two elite players can get with either being a mistake or even an inaccuracy away from being the WCC.

    • @jays100
      @jays100 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The thing is that a game being "unique" doesn't mean anything anymore. No humans have played it in competition for Caruana to study but he very likely studied engine lines several moves past that point, so what's the difference? In reality, Caruana played about 20 engine moves on a line he thought might confuse Magnus and it only took Magnus about 10 moves truly head to head to negate the advantage the computer found.
      This one game doesn't mean Caruana sucks, but it's pretty embarrassing that even when the computer gets him an advantage he can't hold it.

So if Bobby was playing someone today who studies engine chess, and Bobby plays a positional move, his opponent would be lost. His opponent would have to play engine chess the rest of the newly played game just to draw.
