      When I mentioned to a very young engineer, at work, that Don Rickles had died, she was quite bummed, and said, “Aww I loved Mr. Potato Head.”
      I said, “Yes he had a good long career.” She asked in wonderment, “He did stuff other than Mr. Potato Head?”
      I rattled off some movies…
      She had seen Casino, but didn’t realize that her childhood favorite, Mr. Potato Head was in the movie!

      He was more upset because his cousin owed him money. You know how they are.
      Whoooooaaaaa! Easy now. I kid the Jews. It's not about hatred. It's all about laughter and love for everybody. I kid the Jews. I kid the Italians. I kid the Irish. I kid the Arabs...well, not so much the Arabs.

      He really was. Even in this interview, where Rickles is taking Sinatra to Larry King and all I can think is these 3 individuals are gone and can not be replaced.

    Rickles might not have been the funniest, but that guy is the greatest ball breaker ever. And the height of his fame was probably the 70s. In 40-50 years I can't think of anyone the was like him. A legend.

    That’s a great line Don just said on the video when he addressed Governor Reagan, at the time, from California. Don said to him, “1 phone call! That’s all I need to get my cousin off death row. One call, that’s it!” That was brilliant!

    Frank Sinatra read 6 or 7 newspapers every day. When he found a hard luck story or someone in need, he would anonymously send them money.

    The room stopped for Reagan? Maybe union shops stopped working

    • @danielfronc4304
      @danielfronc4304 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Reagan was large and imposing, taking up a lot of room. Psychologists will tell you that to make yourself the center of attention in a large room of people is to puff yourself up, acting animated with your arms but not too much or comicly so and engage a number of people making and holding eye contact with each for 3 - 5 seconds each. And in conversation include everyone in it and praise a few for the aspects of their points of view (as long as they're not extreme) but not condescending so. Also, based on their receptiveness, short touching in neutral zones of their body (eg. the shoulder and upper arm areas in men but definitely not in women today unless you want to be charged with assault). In a measured amount your actions will draw attention to you. As Reagan himself once said, you cannot be a good President if you're not a good actor and he would know. He lived a life equal to 2 - 3 common men in total.

    Rickles was never all that funny to me. Reagan gave us "Trickle Down Economics" (aka Voodoo econinics) that never trickled down and sent all our jobs out of the US. Sinatra was second to Elvis in voice quality. Larry King was one the very best interviewers.
