Thats called self lookup and it not just for account we can create for any other object by creating a lookup by itself. However for user object salesforce specifically named the relationship as hierarchical relationship
Hi, @ 00:17:18 *Account and Contact have Lookup relationship although it works as MDR(Master-Detail Relationship). So if you delete the Account then the respective Contact will also get deleted.*

You’re right, salesforce documentation says we can create more lookup relationships now. May be more than 40. If you are able to try more than 40 , let me know as well

Hierarchy relationship is possible in account also , I think . Account record can link to parent account record so self relationship can be maintained

Yes If you delete account contact will be deleted, thats called cascade delete

Yes , you are correct. Earlier it was only upto 25 but now its upto 40

One to one relationship can be achieved in master detail relationship without using trigger ,we can just create a validation rule
I have shown both the config and code approach in the answer as Interviewer may ask you to tell the code approach if the interview is for developers

we cant make rollup summary field on account as COUNT on contacts as its not a M-D rel with contacts??
