I’ve replaced those door gaskets many times in the last 25+ years of burning. You should always do the repair with the door off and laying flat. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great improvements Brock! I have a friend that always has a cast iron tea pot on his stove with just water in it. Adding humidity to the air in the building helps make it feel warmer. Just something to think on!! LOL. - Best, J. Andre. / Old Iron Acres
The little fans are worth it. Just a little air movement helps a bunch. And they dont need power. If you need additional air movement, a regular box fan behind the stove will really get the air moving and warm up the shop.
Trick for fasteners and stuck pins. Heat them up and then use a candle or crayon to melt wax through the threads. Another tip is to quench in water right away to shrink the pin after heating.
I would have applied the gasket before hanging the door. That way you could have laid the door on a work table in a horizontal position and the gasket wouldn't fall off!
Thanks, you did a good job, i have a stove just like this one, and it needs the same repairs you just did. I have no seal and one of my pins is missing.

Morning! Happy New Year 🤠
@ ditto
Good job Brock
I replaced my rope gasket on my oil boiler and used hi-temperature silicone caulk. Worked fine and didn't drip.
Your stove should be good to go for awhile now. It looks much better!

Thanks and good luck with it
Those door gaskets can be a pain . Hope the tape works . Happy New Year . SEEYA
try laying the door down to help hold the gasket
After stove is running you can determine if it's a success. The bricks and seal need to be tested.🤷🏻♂️😉
I would take the door back off to put the rope on. Lay it down flat.
Happy New year from uk Essex ❤❤
Happy new year
Should have had a dust mask on when wire brushing.
Also think it would have been easier to put the gasket on with the door off.
Fire bricks on the bottom only! The cast iron all ready holds heat!
Should’ve done it with the door off😊
I would have had the door off laying on the bench
👀👀
Why don't you put the gasket in with the door laying on its back
Brock you can fix anything. May the lord bless and protect you Brock and working on the homestead and fixing the wood stove
Happy New Year from the Pennsylvania mountains! God bless you all! And may the mosquitos not bite you on the butt!
Anyone who's tried welding cast iron knows that it's a MAJOR pain in the butt.
Good morning Brock. Happy New Year to you and your family. You can't go wrong with wood heat. God bless and have a wonderful day.👍👍🙂
