I just want to take a minute and shout our Onin. Obviously they're a very talented player and whatnot, but also their attitude is so refreshing as well. Look at the player cam when they see that they lost to that down smash in that game 5, nothing but grace and respect for their opponent. That's class right there, especially considering how much hate all Steve mains have dealt with online. A lot of top players could learn a thing or two from that.
Yeah it's fortunate that the two best Steve players have good sportsmanship.
Yeah it definitely seems like people think being a top player excuses you from needing sportsmanship. Tbh Japan in general is pretty good about it, and Mexico and Europe are pretty good as well, but the American scene? We’re terrible at it

By "sneak in" you mean in the middle of the attack? Seems like they'd get clipped during the startup frames before Corrin crouches if so?
@@user-jw2it4qf2r correct, ideally unshielding in the middle gets you a parry but believe it or not it's still possible to not get clipped. It's definitely not ideal but it is still possible

@@problemsnearyou8899 plus top 5 recovery in the game, both amazing disadvantage and advantage states, super easy to land kill confirms with drag down Nair, tiny hurtbox that even shifts in lots of moves, one of the best projectiles

I havent played ultimate since about when kazuya was released so I’m out of the loop, but why isnt he the strongest character by far? The combo potential is just batshit crazy lol

his disadvantage sucks
For one thing, even if his combo potential is cracked, that's not exactly unheard of in Ultimate's cast. There are a number of characters who can kill you with a touch or two, so it's not a unique thing. Obvious it's still amazing to have, but it's not like Smash 4 Bayo where she could kill almost 100% before anyone else in the cast could.
Second, Kazuya has a really, really shitty disadvantage. He can't get down against faster characters, and with Ultimate's juggling and edgeguarding having gotten so much better, it's really hard for him to survive as long as he might want to.
Third, he matches up really poorly into the current metagame. His worst MUs are against Steve and Sonic, two of the most dominant characters in the game right now. Both of them completely abuse him in neutral and obliterate him in advantage, so his ability to kill with a touch rarely matters because he can't actually get the touch he needs.
He is a gimmick character. Doesn't matter if he can kill everything with a combo if he can't land the combo in the first place. Several characters, and players, can play around his gimmick by exploiting his dogshit range, frame data, mobility, and disadvantage to bully him into submission. He is still a strong character with volatile comeback factor by nature, but just having a busted win condition is not enough to win every matchup, this game isn't THAT simple.
