Saw Honeybee for the first time a few months ago, fell in love with your music, then saw this song and my goodness I haven't two-stepped with my girl in a while but this got us on our feet in seconds! Love it!
That mic fits so well with all the 50s-60s references of this great song, along with how she performs with it. The "huh, ho, huh, huh, huh, ho" is so Buddy Holly. Another great reference that's spot on
+Caroline Drury As I understand it, Rabbit's clockwork brain was always female, I don't know whether or not she knew this. In any case, the drivers didn't match the hardware, and the constant error messages meant she was never really happy. Now that all monitored systems are functioning, she smiles a lot more. My advice: treat her like a lady.
The subtle shift in melody between this and Honeybee is quite impressive, too. Able to pull off two different ranges entirely over the span of a decade.
genuinely until watching this video I thought that the main singer was a completely different person now than when I first heard of this group. this is the first music video I've ever watched and after reading this comments, spg has given me a completely new perspective on being able to still perform as a singer once I start to transition. thank yall
It seems like people forget that while this band is steampunk, their characters live in this century, and have lived through many eras in the past, it's just my opinion but I love the fact that in their costumes, Steam Powered Girrafe includes segments of the past, as well as the present, into their costumes. it's unique and fantastic!
Bunny keeps changing Rabbit's head piece. I think this one is better than the rabbit pelt ear things. But you can never go wrong with the brass goggles.
Rabbit seems so much happier. It might just be me, but she seems more bouncy and happy even out of character. I don't know her personally, though, so it's hard for me to judge based on videos.
my ad introduced me and my sister to them about 2 years ago and I showed my principal this video. I also showed it to more staff. I love all of you guys!
she's always been bouncy and wild--at least in character, anyway--but watching Bunny pre-transition when she's not in character... complete 180 from what I've seen in videos like the Lil' Steve ones.
I'm actually crying remembering how it felt to see rabbit singing in her bunny body for the first time. I'm so so happy and proud of your strength Bunny 💕😭
This song kinda reminds me of why I fell in love with this band. SPG has such a wide range of styles that they do with music whether it's rap, or jazz, or retro-y, or barber shop quartet-y; they've done it all! And that is so cool. Also the singers have such a wide vocal range, and sound positively beautiful together. And to top it all off, they are really cool people, and not total butt-faces! This band is so amazing and I don't think I will ever stop listening to them ^^
Isabella came out about a month after I accepted myself and started telling my closest friends. I was 19 at the time Now I'm 27, finally out of my mom's house (I'm Brazilian and it's common to live with your parents around here) and also finally able to come out. And that's what I'll do, in my 28th birthday next month. This song, and this video in special, will forever be in my heart, because seeing how Bunny (and Rabbit) is finally happy being herself, has ALWAYS been my fuel, It was what kept me alive all those years, knowing someday I may be able to achieve the happiness I crave, just like she did. Maam, you're my heroine, and forever my heroine you shall be. All the love, The girl soon to be known as Gita Sofia
It's incredible how deep and borderline tragic this song is, especially for this band. But that's what's awesome about them, they are always full of surprises. I really adore this vintage 1950s sound! Hey guys, please consider doing more of it! But any style they do they completely nail it. Great writing, great composing, great performers, always. They've got a fan right here of three years and still going strong. As much as I love Honeybee and EH and EIIMS this one is my all time favorite SPG song. So many memories already. Sigh.
Bunny's style is on point as usual. I'm so glad she decided to keep the corrosion under the eyes in the makeup, like the original. Definitely my favorite part of Rabbit's design. She just looks so happy in this video, it's awesome! >w
Fuck yes to Bunny for having the courage to transition Rabbit along with herself. I watched her video she made a few weeks ago talking about it, I can't believe there are some fans that have a problem :( Don't let it get you down, those people don't have half your intelligence and creativity, and it makes me question how people really feel about music and art in this day and age. This isn't a popularity contest. Rabbit's new style is awesome looking, and it still echoes back to the fashion of Rabbit when the character was a man, which is pretty damn cool :)
1:46 has me awestruck. Idk much about vocal technique or anything really but like its impressive and had me replaying this song 8x so far.... Im so in love w/ her voice on this track!
This has to be one of the most unique bands right now. The Spine is my favorite but I really like how Rabbit has so many different looks, seems like she's in a new costume every video I see. If only I had a chance to see them live now.
Um... I am... 😂😂😂 I showed them to my mum and said they were weird and I told her to shut up because I love them so much and I got grounded for the day... 😅 totally worth it tho. Ain’t no one gonna talk trash about them in front of me. HELL NO! 🖤
@@qwuzzy well, there are few songs from SPG on this level imo: Me and my baby ( Saturday nights), Malfunction, Automatonic Electronic Harmonics and so on. But tastes arent the same for everyone, so its just my little list :P
Bunny, it's so obvious that this is what you've wanted to do and be. You are super awesome. As for the rest of SPG, keep up the good work. You guys are stellar.
This is so much more than just a music video. The performance was amazing but the thing I noticed the most about this was Bunny looks more happy and comfortable than ever! This made me so happy to the point where this has become more than just my favorite song on this album.
I came out as trans this past year and my voice is something I'm always self conscious about.Seeing you belt this song out with such confidence really makes me feel better.
I'm guilty of singing along with this in the car, and Idk it works really well with my vocal range (I'm a cis lady). When she belts out "It's all gone to rust" (when it's more dragged out toward the end), good lord, she sounds so powerful. For me, the voice doesn't have to "match" the gender identity of the singer, ya know? Like if Laura Jane Grace of Against Me! kept singing in the same register for all the songs before her transition I'd be like hey cool. Glad it helps your confidence. I could see Bunny being a big role model.
Very much the same regarding voice. I'm still trying to find my voice so to speak, its just hard, after having used this voice for 35+ years, and finding a voice that I'm comfortable with using, as well as one that I feel sounds like me.
@@caitlinomalley80 i decided a while ago that, unless I'm on the phone, everyone gets my deep voice. I'm not going to convince anyone I'm cis and I'm fine with that.
How did they get the audience to stand? Threaten them with TH-cam shaming?! I can just hear Rabbit: "If ya don't s-s-stand up... Y-y-y-r gonna make us look BAD. So STAND UP. DANCE. Or Hatchy will eat your shoes." Hatchworth: "I'll eat them anyway but stand up, she means it folks."
They know the audience will consent because they are popular, that's why they do it. In the earlier days, when they were less popular, they didn't try things like that, because they knew people were less likely to go along with it. You don't just demand things when the audience barely knows you. Other things are less easily explained, like why everyone does that side-to-side shuffle during the chorus line for Honeybee with no provocation from the band whatsoever.
***** Well, in the earlier days, the audience didn't have any choice but to stand. Since they started out as buskers and their audience didn't have chairs and all.
I was actually there for this video! She and the other bandmates told us that they were filiming the video for "I'll Rust" and that we should all stand up and dance around and we did! It was super great... I think I teared up a bit from how excited and happy I was about being at that concert. lol
I have enjoyed this song for a year and I can't believe I waited this long to read the lyrics. It's a really beautiful post-apocalytic scene the song paints, and it's sung in such a happy bouncy way. It feels like the bots can find happiness even in the most desolate and lonely environments.
I liked this period where Rabbit was experimenting a lot with her look and had a bunch of new ones. I like the one she settled on but honestly I like all the other ones she tried more!
Rabbit looks so happy in this video! She's so beautiful. Spine and Hatch are also phenomenal in this. Love this music video, love the band! Keep up the good work!
i remember when i saw this video for the first time, it awakened in me the first real spark of my trans identity. seeing Bunny emerge and be so happy and excited showed me that what i hoped and dreamed for was possible. thank you SPG 8 years later for this gift ❤
It wouldn't work for Fallout 4 and heres why: the songs un game are meant to represent music that was available around the time the bombs dropped. to put a recent song in no matter how similiar would break the immersion that the radio provides in the first place. You'll never see a modern song in fallout as long as it has an in universe radio station
+Dr00zk1 They would fit perfectly in the Fallout universe. Especially with Fallout 4's introduction of Synths. Their whole aesthetic and sound reminded me of Fallout. Not in every regard, but in many. And it might be why I came to like SPG so much.
I'm glad I discovered the band this year. Considering the shit show these recent years have been globally and personally, and considering it looks like it's going to get a lot worse, I've found a happy place for myself listening to their music. 🥺❤️
I just can't get over how happy you all look in this video - most noticeably (to me) Rabbit. You can just tell by looking at the band members during videos like this how much they love what they do and it's beautiful. The fans love it, the band loves it, everyone loves it. I love it. Keep being awesome, SPG.
i hadnt checked the description and seen that this was filmed at anime midwest so im sure you can imagine my initial surprise to see jade harley in the crowd
i haven't heard this song in at least two years. suddenly i felt like hearing it again and sure enough i still remember all the lyrics. this is a great song.
Rabbit darling i love you so much and im so proud of how far you’ve come iv been here since brass goggles and honeybee you have come so far love and i have you as a role model as a still questioning myself i doubt you will actually see this but if you do just know if i could id love to give you a hug and talk well ill stop here and just say i love you and adore you and your journey and im so happy to have watched you become who you truely are and im so happy to continue to watch with new videos you all make
I recently said goodbye to my 1971 VW Beetle, I listen to this song to help make me feel like he's still here. Bertie will always be in my heart, no matter what his next adventure is.
It's so wonderful that I am almost crying. I love the lyrics, and the melody, and how all the voices go together, and a booklet design for the song (since that time when many of us watched "Live Art With Bunny" Livestream session)... And this awesome video now... Very harmonic, stylish, clever!
I can't say how much I love the new changes in the group. The Spine's stegosauraus scales, Hatchworth's chest piece and, most importantly, Rabbit's gender change. Its nice to see a character/singer with my body style. And to see everyone so comfortable and happy with who they are!
I had never really heard of Steam Powered Giraffe a few years ago, but my friend told me that they were really good. So at Anime Midwest last year, I went to this exact concert (with the same friend) as they were filming the music video and that was the night I became a fan of SPG. :)
There was a local convention here in Savannah two weeks ago and, in a cosplay panel, there was a girl with makeup inspired by Steam Powered Giraffe. I thought she looked great but it wasn't until I got home and looked up the band on TH-cam and discovered the great band for myself.
I don't really like 1950s music; I prefer music from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1960s, and 1990s; but this song is song awesome. I can see myself walking the dark halls of Rapture; M1A1 at ready low, watching my six for Splicers.
This is the first time I've heard Steam Powered Giraffe, and I'm absolutely in love with the sound. I've also recently realized that I'm trans, and seeing such a wonderfully talented and successful trans artist as part of the group is motivating, to say the least. Her voice is so beautiful! This song is what made me go and make a new youtube account, with my new name, so I could comment on this. Great job Steam Powered Giraffe! You've got a new fan!
If you compare Bunny's eyes in this video compared to previous videos as Rabbit, you can see so much more life and happiness. I really don't think I've seen such a heartfelt group of artists in a long time. I can't get enough.
Boy or girl, Rabbit is adorable either way and her voice is amazing. I love Steam Powered Giraffe's music. I showed my girlfriend "Honeybee" and she loves it. Keep up the fantastic job!
Your songs are helping me block out the sounds of fireworks tonight and helping me try to block out my ptsd which keeps trying to creep up on me. Thank you for your music ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so happy these guys are doing so well. I saw them in San Diego when they were maybe around for 2 years by then. I thought they were awesome but was worried I'd never hear about them again. and I'm thankful to say I havnt stop hearing about them :)
Wow okay... So I just discovered this band, and this video sums up Bunny's vocals for me very well - she sounds so deep and an amazing reverberation for a female vocalist! Regarding her appearances, it's not a wonder why I considered her masculine. But now I can hear it; there is a theatrical quality to her voice which simply makes it appear deeper, it's not actually very masculine at all. Just very deep feminine. Interesting, hard to notice. She pulls this kind of singing off better than I could, in retrospect, I'm much better at feminine singing roles. I love human genomes.
+Jay lol also; I grew up near Balboa when I was little, about 15 years ago I swear I saw one of these guys... Outside the museum of flight. Small world, considering I didn't know of this band until a UK artist had them on the related wheel on youtube. Go figure.
This perks me up as a gender-fluid aspiring singer. I just didn't think my vocals would set me outside of my typical category like this, or like Brian Molko... I mean, I guess it makes sense. To all of us who love to sing: sing where your heart lies! Tis what she does, tis what I will do
Yep, they were fantastic live. And oh yes, we're in the front row bopping around. I came to this concert as a chaperone for my daughter, I left this concert a fan, not only of the band, but the fandom as well. What a great group of peeps! Love you, SPG! Hope to see you next year!
Easily in my top 3 of your guys' songs. My meta introduced me to SCP like two weeks ago and I have not been able to stop. I love your music so much. Kick ass band to start off 2020 with
I noticed that Rabbit is a moving a bit more humanlike than usual in some parts of this, but then again, this is such a bop that it would be impossible to contain yourself like that.
You guys look so happy. And I hope you all are because what you are doing is amazing and I also hope that you never, EVER, stop writing and performing songs.
Although I'm a new fan, I miss seeing Jon joking along with them. That may also be because I saw the older videos. I'm not sure though. It's still a new favorite band of mine despite that.

Rachel Yeung That's how I found them, too! Along with The Dolls of New Albion.
Steam Powered Giraffe Wow Spine.
Every time Rabbit mentions owning a car, it terrifies me.

Lol I love how Isabella still interacts with the "big" microphone, even though it's just a prop. Gives it a realistic vibe, very nice.

As I understand it, Rabbit's clockwork brain was always female, I don't know whether or not she knew this. In any case, the drivers didn't match the hardware, and the constant error messages meant she was never really happy.
Now that all monitored systems are functioning, she smiles a lot more. My advice: treat her like a lady.

Bunny is so cute!!!! I love all of you and I'm so glad you all were so happy :)
This song deserves to be on the Fallout 4 soundtrack :)
RIGHT?!?!?!?!

It's so wonderful that I am almost crying. I love the lyrics, and the melody, and how all the voices go together, and a booklet design for the song (since that time when many of us watched "Live Art With Bunny" Livestream session)... And this awesome video now... Very harmonic, stylish, clever!
Holy hell I love her so much
genuinely obsessed with this rabbit look omg she's so gorgeous
This is honestly amazing, I forgot how much I loved steam powered giraffe.
I love rabbits outfit here. She’s so pretty.
Rabbit I love your voice. I'm so glad you chose to sing. Your music is great!
I can't say how much I love the new changes in the group. The Spine's stegosauraus scales, Hatchworth's chest piece and, most importantly, Rabbit's gender change. Its nice to see a character/singer with my body style. And to see everyone so comfortable and happy with who they are!
This is possibly my favorite video, just because how happy Bunny looks.
Never have I heard a tune be so nihilistic AND damn catchy
Spine, Hatchworth, and Rabbit all look and sound terrific here. Well done!
Beautiful!! 💗🎶🎶🎶
I’m getting 50s vibes from this, love it ❤️
I had never really heard of Steam Powered Giraffe a few years ago, but my friend told me that they were really good.
So at Anime Midwest last year, I went to this exact concert (with the same friend) as they were filming the music video and that was the night I became a fan of SPG. :)
Who's living through quarantine in 2020 with spg being the one thing keeping them from shutting down?
There was a local convention here in Savannah two weeks ago and, in a cosplay panel, there was a girl with makeup inspired by Steam Powered Giraffe. I thought she looked great but it wasn't until I got home and looked up the band on TH-cam and discovered the great band for myself.
i used to see this group street performing at balboa park. they just keep getting better
From my 5 year old daughter Penny, “I ❤️ Steam Powered Giraffe!”
As a super-huge fan of fifties music, I feel like this song was made for me.
God this band just keeps getting better.
I don't really like 1950s music; I prefer music from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1960s, and 1990s; but this song is song awesome.
I can see myself walking the dark halls of Rapture; M1A1 at ready low, watching my six for Splicers.
Joshua XD
Not my ideal fantasy, but intriguing nonetheless.
These were really great concerts. Thanks again for two nights of fun, made my whole weekend while working at AM!
Thank you GeekShot for the awesome videoness!
Keep rockin', guys. Sounding better and better, and looking metal as hell.
Just went and watched "Fancy Shoes," and thought, "man, i should've said something about Geekshot being so awesome", but Molly's on the case :)
Haha. Those guys do good work, man.
Your songs are helping me block out the sounds of fireworks tonight and helping me try to block out my ptsd which keeps trying to creep up on me. Thank you for your music ❤️❤️❤️
still love this song so much, I never getting tired of it
These are some awesome camera angles!
This is one of my favorites from MK III. SO glad you choose to make a video of this one ♥
Tis what she does, tis what I will do
This is still my favorite post-transition Rabbit look. :) Also my favorite song from Mk III.
Anyone else think Rabbit would look better as a redhead than a blonde? It would blend better with the red of her clothing.
I like her new black hair best! Although If she had some red, some black, that would be pretty awesome, too!
Aww yes. Rad af
She does! (I have a small crush on her dont tell my boyfriend)
Jenna Crawford I won't tell ~Rabbit
Steam Powered Giraffe I am slightly fangirling! Thank you, Bunny!
I love you guys... And Rabbit girl :) her voice makes my heart cry with joy!
This song was absolutely amazing!
I don't think I could ever tire of your ingenuity and class.
Keep up the good work all :)
I look into the crowd, and I see them.
Homestuck.
We will never be free
yes
Doesn’t *everyone* go from Homestuck to this?
I didn’t even see my brethren in the front lines
1:53 hey a witch of space made it to the show.
i was starting to worry that no one caught that thank gog.
... Center shot, and in the limelight too. >):^]
I feel the passion of your older stuff in this song, I love it. :D
Yep, they were fantastic live. And oh yes, we're in the front row bopping around. I came to this concert as a chaperone for my daughter, I left this concert a fan, not only of the band, but the fandom as well. What a great group of peeps! Love you, SPG! Hope to see you next year!
You can see me (I'm in the red dress) from 2:48 on!
Now that is pretty awesome.
That's awesome! I'm so jealous!
Easily in my top 3 of your guys' songs. My meta introduced me to SCP like two weeks ago and I have not been able to stop. I love your music so much. Kick ass band to start off 2020 with
I would say my one inquiry for SPG is where they get their clothing/who designs it. I love Rabbit's outfit here, like 10/10 would purchase.
This is now the song that cheers me up when I'm down, and another rocking song for steam powered giraffe.
I have a man-crush on Hatch...I love that red stache...
`so many different vibes coming through all at once.amazing
I genuinely believe this could be the best song. Not the best SPG song, but the best of all songs.
I noticed that Rabbit is a moving a bit more humanlike than usual in some parts of this, but then again, this is such a bop that it would be impossible to contain yourself like that.
Wunderschön! Love and best greetings from Germany
I love that lil leather jacket on rabbit.. SO CUTE!
My first introduction to a new favorite band
You guys look so happy. And I hope you all are because what you are doing is amazing and I also hope that you never, EVER, stop writing and performing songs.
Although I'm a new fan, I miss seeing Jon joking along with them.
That may also be because I saw the older videos. I'm not sure though.
It's still a new favorite band of mine despite that.
This is one of my favorites. And Bunny looks beautiful as always. I can't wait to see them live someday.
