- When Beatrice looking for greener pastures in Finland, she had only one goal in mind, to make sure her daughter Mitchelle and son Joe joined her and support her family back home the best way she knew how
She then got three more children in Finland but her marriage did not last.
So when she and her daughter Mitchelle went missing, her family in Kenya knew it would only be a matter of time before they answered their phone suspecting they might have been tired of the food gig they ran supplying great Samosas and other African cuisine in Finland
However, the two Kenyans were found dead in their van in the parking lot of a skiing centre in Tahko, Nilsiä on February 09, 2023 with a family source confirming that autopsy had revealed that they died of carbon monoxide poisoning
Today, the mother is asking your help in repatriating the bodies back home in Kenya so she can give her daughter and grand daughter a decent send off

@LynnNgugi, please educate our people in Kenya and outside Kenya. There are different insurances that cover for death and all burial arrangements. Nobody should be put through freedom struggle during mourning times. People listen to you. Teach them.

Unfortunately death comes to everyone no matter where they live. The best thing is to be prepared. When I got my current job in America, I got life insurance, health insurance and started saving for retirement. That was many years ago even before I had my daughter. I never want to burden anyone when my time comes. I've also made it clear that I want to be cremated

She has a very considerate son. He got the entire neighborhood and family members, including church prayer group to surround her before she got the news. God bless him. Africa can make it in their homeland by the grace of God. Brown-skin Americans and other brown-skin people from other lands are relocating to Africa. Africa is beautiful. God has blessed Africa with rich resources that some envy and need for manufacturing of vehicles, etc.

Surely it was an accident. I believe they wanted to save hotel money by sleeping in the van. It is winter and one has to run the engine to keep the vehicle warm. Poor fatal mistake they did.

Such a sad and tragic story.
Unfortunately it was from a charcoal burner they had to keep warm, that released carbon monoxide as they slept (edit..it wasn't the exhaust from the running engine.)
I will channel my support. May mum and daughter rest in glory. May God encompass the family and friends with His comfort and love during this time of grief.
I think for all Africans in Europe, let us endeavour to have funeral insurance, along with the health insurance.
Just a little each month can cover your repatriation incase of demise in a foreign land, and you wish to be buried in your home country.

I thought people learnt from the Blizzard incident in Newyork end of last year and early this year. You shouldn't keep your engine running if your car isn't in motion. Carbon monoxide is a very dangerous affair.

Lynn it's a high time people in diaspora should have death insurance, you pay a certain amount of money every month and this mchango will not be happening, you work so hard to even invest back home but when you die while in diaspora people have to raise money to bring you back home for burial 😕sad

What type of insurance do you mean? There are many different kinds. If they had life insurance, a beneficiary would receive the money, but we don't know if they had life insurance

@@hellenadhiambo4816 In Germany the only compulsory insurance is health insurance, and car insurance. Health insurance only covers your medical expenses while you're alive. Life insurance is voluntary and only some people take it

KENYANS LIVING OUTSIDE KENYA, APPLY FOR BURIAL INSURANCE. IT IS ABOUT 20-60 EURO PER MONTH DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU WANT TO BE DONE DURING YOUR BURIAL INCLUDING TRANSPORTING YOU BACK TO KENYA. LET YOUR FAMILY KNOW ABOUT ALL OF IT. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG TO PREPARE FOF THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENT IN YOUR LIFE. DO NOT MAKE YOUR FAMILY SUFFER WHEN THEY MOURN YOU. Keeping in mind right now on Finland is cold and working in a van will require heating and this is the huge contributor of carbon monoxide gases so I can see what might have happened here. I would like to pray for this family please take heart and I hope you find that support to bring them home.

My condolences for this mum/grandma. And thank you Meghan. I was thinking the same thing. Most insurance companies have a clause that covers for funerals. I hope they get some help in that regard and that their insurance will help.
Also, I think this is an opportunity for all us living abroad to familiarise ourselves with insurance options for last rites. I think there is an organization in the states that covers for funerals for any African living abroad. I think the premiums are as little as 100USD a year. Hugs to the whole family.
