Why on earth does F1 (the organisation) think that fans want to hear the current generation of cars vs a V10 howl. Do they really believe fans give a stuff about sustainable fuels in favour to the sound of a real F1 engine? Well, I’ve got news for them, we don’t!
And I've got news for you - your opinion doesn't bother F1 one fig. The big manufacturers are being feted to join the F1 paddock, and that means the engines have to have relevance to those in road cars, present and future. I wholeheartedly agree with you though, and it's ironic that BMW chose to put a screaming N/A V10 in the E60 M5.
@@huwprice881 what always confused me regarding this point was that it implies screaming 20k rpm v10's had any sort of real relevance to road cars from 20 years ago? yet manufacturers still used such platforms then? and even to top that off, the definition of 'relevance' i feel gets quite blurry in the context of f1 or racing in general, as in if we were to go make a v10 thats a 2.0 - 2.5 litre hybrid, does that suddenly become so much more 'irrelevant' than the current platforms merely on the basis that it includes an additional 4 cylinders? its absolutely bizarre
I love the fact that these cars were so difficult to manage. It's what made them special. No, they weren't push-button EVs that just went when you told them to. They lived and breathed. They had moods. You had to treat them with respect, to pander to their ridiculously exacting demands and needs, and if you neglected them they'd either refuse to run or destroy themselves - or you. That's the kind of complication that makes for a really 'interesting' relationship. Running an F1 car from this era was a bit like owning a thoroughbred racehorse: handle it like a jealous lover or it'll kick your head off. But when things were running smoothly, the rewards were incredible. What a sound!😁
Lol you have no clue what you are talking about. this is a 2004 car, They had Traction Control, Steering assist, stability control everything. Nothing like that on a modern f1 car, modern ones are much more difficult to drive.
If you go to the BMW museum in Munich they have an example of this engine. The label mentions Williams GP as “chassis supplier “ which is possible a bit condescending!
Wonder what these beasts would be like if kept on developing them till 2024 ,this is how f1 should be beasts on wheels best off best good old days where cars hurt ears as they passed yea real power .😮
Even though BMW had the best engine at the time, Honda probably had the most powerful engine, just a bit ahead of BMW, only Honda blew up more often. But the point is that Williams took too many risks with the walrus nose in the first half of the season. The shape of the nose was too sensitive to crosswinds. The high and short nose also did not allow ballast to be placed in a favorable center of gravity. From the middle of the season onwards they switched to this version with previously revised aerodynamics, which brought Williams back towards the top. Only the season was almost over and Ferrai had stopped developing their car. And in 2005, unfortunately, the rules were changed and they went down a path that not only wasn't great visually but was also usually not fast enough.
The second they go all EV the game is over unless they can pipe in music like this. This is just heavenly!Watching an electric slot car will be just stupid. Rather stay home and watch grass grow.
Blimey Williams really do appear to now only employ drivers that can't actually drive a car. I suppose one could call it being inclusive but hey each to their own.
I miss the V10s like you wouldn't believe. This is music to my _soul._
Back when the cars were fire breathing, screaming animals with soul.
The best season ever was 2004. The best looking cars, the best sounding cars.
2003 was def better - 3 way fight till the end (tho Juan was out of it for the last race), 2004 was Ferrari-MSC domination
2000 season had the best sounding, McLaren Mercedes. There is no argument.
I agree but the MP4-20 from 2005 is my favourite sounding F1 car. F2004 for looks.
till 2000 there was no traction control, so much better
Una 💣💥 que sonido y como tiran esas marchas. 💪🏻
What F1 is supposed to sound like
At least….
Correct
And look like 🥵💦😍
Prefer V10 sound
Absolutely
Current soulless F1 hybrid barges can't hold a candle to these V10's.................
Best era of F1, so loud you couldn't even hear your thoughts
I’m F1 at its peak… the sounds were amazing
This was one of the most beautiful F1 cars ever!

Sadly you are absolutely correct
Money. The organisation needs to generate a lot of money.

THE REAL F1
I experienced these cars at Silverstone. Stupendous!
Music to the ears.
A video from TH-cam will never give you the idea of what was happening live back in the days.
Best sound ever ❤
Thanks for stalling it, Karun; no wonder your time in F1 was so short.
Love the sound of those V10 F1 engines from 20 years ago compared to todays crap sounding F1 engines. Much better looking F1 cars then too.

Even at idle it sounds better than the current cars at full speed
F1 today: big cars, small engines
F1 before: smaller cars, big engines, Godly sound
1:30 was he talking about the driver? Lmao 😂
-Late ✅️
-Talking ✅️
-Parked it miles away ✅️
Three strikes and you're out Karun lol
His grin when he realises he's behind him 😂
These are the ultimate Ones to race
What a great F1 car. They have to come back to F1.
The ‘26 reg. car will make Energizer Bunny noises.
Man put that car on a real F1 track!
Karun breaking yet another car! 😉
The one effin williams mechanic dropped more “f” bombs than an effin long haul trucker with a bad lower back for f sakes
that was formula one. Now it's formula boredom
Boremula one..
V 10 and V 12 miss them dearly. Today’s F1 sucks.
I could feel the ground shaking while it was idling and the dormant power was palpable.
Surprising considering that all came through my headphones.
Ohhh... please come back old formula!
All are just as fast but it seems the sound has a bigger factor than anything else with F1.
LINDO ESSA FÓRMULA 1 19.000RPM BMW 3.0 V10 WILLIAMS FW26 ❤❤❤❤❤ADOREI O VÍDEO 🏎🏎🏎🏎
This V10 sound is missing from F1,it sounds very urgent.
THAT’S how F1 should sound!
Ditch the turdbo hybrid era.
gas guzzling POS who dont make power dont belong in modern racing thankfully.
Is this Goodwood?. Festival of speed.
Hurrah for Karun ... Awesome
A lucky man to have been an F1 driver and an intelligent f1 commentator 😊
I do love these V10s, back when F1 was Formula 1 👍 and not Formula sooooooo boring now 🥱
Insane Sound!!
un VRAI pilote n' aurais JAMAIS calé 😅 ex Mansell 👌👍
141st anyways V10s we’re goated in Formula 1
"Wow this is AMAZING, I miss this, wish they would sound like this today!" - Literally every effing person.
The new cars just do not hold a candle to these v10 monsters.
The V10 era had the best sound ever.
BMW = bring mechanic with
Damn I miss those days😪
1:34 Who's the dude talking in the background, swearing and abusing someone?
I think he was shit talking about Karoon Chandok (im sure I butchered his name spelling) 😂
Lol who cares that's how they talk to each other
@@darrellgrant7615 Nah, I don't think so. He seemed to be having a go at his mate for causing them to be late or something.
Atmosferik ❤
Was this 2024 FOS?

That mechanic going in on Chandhok. 😂

The 2004 Williams FW-26B powerd by BMW P84 engine.
when will they come back😥
I m not understand how this car with most powerfull engine win not a Championship.
It is not onley power but the whole package must be right,
@@henkvandervliet8746 Williams can t make this?

The bumbling fart of the Merc followed by the screaming banshee of the BMW V10. Please God, bring it back. 🙏
Just reminds you how pants F1 is these days....They sound terrifying as they should..
Chandhok hard to find the neutral button hahaha
What an engine
This is what Ralf drove???
That’s how an F1 car is supposed to sound
F1 as with most sport's is a shadow of what it was
If you put it on an endless straight. Would it be faster in top Speed than a Late 90s Champcar? Less aero and gearbox for vmax
You know a couple seasons of R&D by the teams and the old V10 on slicks would be just as fast as these bloated modern hybrids.
common problem with those cars, the reverse was a pain in the ass hahaha.
Go Williams 2025❤😊
I still prefer the sound of Mike Hailwood's 250cc Honda 6 cylinder being 'exercised'.
is it just me or does the V10 car have traction control on? looks and sounds like it. I thought those cars weren't supposed to have it?
Da hat er ihn abgewürgt, der Anfänger!
O sr Frank deveria ter vendido a Williams para a BMW nessa época.
The problem with formula one now is that it is owned and run by people who care more about money than about racing.
Tell me, when wasn't that the case?
@ good point. For all the bad things that Bernie Ecclestone was maybe he wasn't as bad as liberty media, the Saudis, and the FIA.
Y E S
...and the S65 was born.
When F1 didn’t sound like a spastic Prius.
Ah not that DH Karun!! 🤦♂🤣
At idle the engine sounds like a model pulse jet.
❤❤❤❤❤
Dude just let them push you back sheesh🙄
without traction control it is like to run on ice
Should definitely have light up the rears and done a half donut.
Lit. Lit up. It's the past tense of to light. English. You're welcome.
Less is more. Nowadays F1 cars are too big.
I don’t think the crew is very impressed with Karun. Duh
Yep that mechanic was slagging him right off, maybe he didn’t realise how load he was speaking haha

Now its all v6 hybrids. 😭
Honda 125cc, 21000 revs
Chanduk!
Das war noch Sound
Cars are going electric. Hybrids are obsolete....may aswell make F1 NA again...
Let us hope and pray that bio fuels will allow THIS kind of sound to return to F1
Go back to Bernie`s 1,000 BHP Brabham in the 70s.
@4:19 NGL that Merc looks ugly af. The Williams behind it tho…😮💨
3:25 = eargasm.
The cars sound and look soo good then. It's now a snooze fest with the damn hybrids.
Music to my ears! Too bad they sound like vacuum cleaners now. 😢
That engine is really missfiring! Not sounding so well.
Ki ez a béna- ilyennek adni ezt az F1- et nagyon ciki!!!!!

Who's the nudge driving....yeessshhh

The newer cars are so big and ugly AND they sound like shit.
