  • This is a disassembly video of the Vivibright GP100 projector. We purchased this new and it had a black spot on the picture so we decide to take it apart to see if we could fix it.

    Thanks, pal! In my case there was something was rattling inside it, it was a piece of plastic! Now it's cool and it was easier to fix it because of you.

    Thanks I used your guide to help me clean dust build up on this part,from general usage after a couple of months, the filter captures some but it was a very fine dust affecting white colour in the image, to add just after 12 months stopped working would not power on , ordered replacment and new gp100 had a small piece of black plastic on lcd screen as well so followed this guide again.

    There is also a mirror under the shroud that needs cleaning too, this can also cause bit to appear on the screen, so if cleaning the lcd screen does not work, try taking the shroud off the top and cleaning the mirror behind the lens. im actually modding mt projector now and the fans are so easy to get to, im putting silent 70mm fans inside, the fan at the back is 70x70x15mm, and the fan at the side is 70x70x25. hope this helps guys.

    • @jlanzac
      @jlanzac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can you post which fans are you using? I'm really interesting in changing them. If you can even make a short video or uploading pictures somewhere, it would be great ;) Do you consider it will be possible to include bigger fans (80mm or 90mm)? this way we might have more airflow and lower noise ;)

      Sorry for insisting. Any news on the modding?

    • @ph111hud0
      @ph111hud0 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jorge Lanza hello yes, I bought an acoustifan silent 70mm for the side exhaust but the rear fan is a 70mm shrouded laptop fan, if you try to mod the rear fan you end up with heat inside and it appears as a big black growing shadow on the picture so you can't mod the rear fan, i reduced the total db to around 24db by modding the side fan. Be careful not to touch the mirror, or when taking the LCD panel out it can scratch on the polarized filter inside so again be careful.

    • @jlanzac
      @jlanzac 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      24 db is quite a lot. Do you think it could be possible to add bigger fans? Is there space for 80mm, for instance?

    for THE PRICE these are pretty good projectors, however the light color is a little cold because of poor quality of LED lights, when you want better colors and NO dust problems consider buying a DLP projector, these have a totally closed light system so NO dust buildup, contract is also way higher on a DLP , other than that, for watching a occasional film or sports this projectors will do perfectly, another thing is that the power consumption is higher on a LCD projector, lighting efficiency on a DLP is higher....

    I think its better that you unsocket the other connector for easy access. I had a gp70up android that i used to cleaned it all the time at least twice a month. The lcd ribbon is easy to connect back and i can take the whole lcd out for cleaning. i had follow byintek guide. Dont stress the led ribbon cable as they are thin and easily torn, better to un socket them. just my advice.

    Thank you for your video, really helpful for the inside tech information. Much better than unbox video and some kinds of "review"
    The two info i find in your video:
    1. GP100 projector is not 3000 ISO lumens(test as ISO require). For the night room light, 3000 lumens LED much brighter than that. I can roughly consider it's around 300 ANSI lumens.
    2. Due to the style of lens set, edges & left right sides will have some focus point issues. The image get blurry.

    please tell me if it would be possible to install a potentiometer on the projector cooler to reduce the noise? if so, how would you show the location of the cooler?

    • @axelhopfinger533
      @axelhopfinger533 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Installing potentiometers or voltage reducers on the fans is absolutely possible, question is, will the reduced rpm and airflow lead to heat problems. The answer is most likely yes. Installing more powerful and silent fans is doable at least for the one 70x25mm fan blowing out the side. The shrouded radial fan at the back is much more problematic, as it prooves to be rather hard to find any fittingly similar model anywhere.

    since you open it, do you think you can change the fan?

    • @axelhopfinger533
      @axelhopfinger533 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, of course the fans can be changed. Problem is: the existing ones are absolutely no-name, not a single serial number, mark or anything to identify the model or its specs on them. The fan cooling the LCD heat sink seems a standard 70mmx25mm, but a 15mm model seems to work also.
      The radial shrouded fan drawing in air from the backside is a 70mmx15mm model, but i cannot find any similar model anywhere. looks like a laptop cpu cooler.
      Sadly, it is utterly impossible to identify the manufacturer or the cfm rating.
      Also, i found the radial shrouded fan on the back to not have any dust filter, it sucks in air unfiltered and blows it directly between the LCD and lens, which makes it the prime culprit for dust on the optics. Adding a dust filter of any sorts to the backside grating of the fan could solve the problem, as long as it doesn't obstruct airflow too much.

      Would it possible to change the lcd panel for a full 1080p panel???? Making it native 1080p, now that would be awesome

    • @axelhopfinger533
      @axelhopfinger533 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I successfully replaced the loud stock fan of the LED heatsink with a model SUNON KDE1207PTV1-13A (60L1420) fan, which was the qietest 70x25mm model i could find, and reduced its RPM with a resistor.
      It is now definitely somewhat quieter, but still rather noisy. Mainly it is the sound of the air rushing through the slits out the side which is disturbing, so i am gonna remove the gratings of the case next to allow for a better airflow with less resistance.
      The shrouded laptop fan pulling air in from the back seemingly cannot be replaced and is still rather noisy, but i am gonna remove the grating also and add a simple dust filter, since this seems to be the main path for dust getting into the beamer and onto the LCD.
      So in conclusion, the possibilities of making this model significantly more silent with simple modifications is rather limited.

      2 fans inside. One 70x25mm axial fan blowing over a heatsink out the side, one 70x15mm radial shrouded fan on the backside. Both fans have no markings or serial numbers on them to identify the type or specs.

    The LCD resolution is 720p, can you put another LCD screen with bigger resolution? I buy this projector from gearbest with the androidn bud in for 169 $ so now I'm waiting for shipping to come to me . I just wondered if you could change this LCD screen to another with a higher resolution. There are many offers for FullHD or 2k LCD screens in aliexpress.

    • @connelangusrice3635
      @connelangusrice3635 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is very interesting and totally plausible. Even if you can get your hands on a higher res screen, it depends if the mainboard actually has the capability to detect and/or correctly push those pixels onto the upgraded LCD. I'm also interested in this as well as a few other upgrades.
      Any electrical engineers here to give their expert opinions?

    • @AntrAcsA
      @AntrAcsA 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Btw this projector sux ball so hard. I sell me after 3 days use. It's has a lot problem with the nose, focus, performance, Android, the menus are awful, contrast and colors are just a joke... so disappointing

    • @connelangusrice3635
      @connelangusrice3635 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AntrAcsA : Agreed. The shortcomings are bit of a let down... but the price is good. Got mine for $160 (non-android).
      It's good as long as the noise can be drowned out with high volume, a good sound system, or headphones.
      The entire image can be almost perfectly sharp if you can avoid using the keystone by mounting it straight on.
      The colors are good enough. It's to be expected since it's using an LED instead of a bulb. That's why more expensive projectors don't use LEDs.
      Built-in Android is awful. You're better off buying the basic version and using the difference to get an android stick that is 3x more powerful than what's built in.
      It's good and you'll be satisfied if you're not expecting $500+ performance from a $160 projector.

    I had the GP80 and that one does not have filter and I had to open it like once a week to clean it until one day I decided to disconnect the LCD screen to have more freedom of movement then I connected it back and the image now is reversed like a a negative picture and I have been unable to find info on how to fix that. Some TV when they are serviced also end up like that but usually there is a secrete key combination on the remote that open a service menu were you fix that. I have tried many combination on the remote of the up80 projector but nothing happens. So the lesson is never disconnect the LCD screen from the main board and always buy projectors with air filter :/ Oh and only clean it with high air pressure, I used window cleaner and it destroyed the mirror for some reason
