It's true that race mode and downshifting must be activated when temp of transmission was good but in this issue the transmission is absolutely ok. • @TKPorsche

    It would be wise to perform a full transmission service, replacing the trans fluid, before you drive it again. That fluid may well be burned now from the trans overheating. Also, you should have parked and left the car at the dealer when the problem was first discovered. Don’t keep driving with an obvious serious problem! Worst case, there is always Uber for such situations.

Yes it was hotter then "normal" operating temperature but it never entered the red zone on the gadge. You can see that in the video. Also the car would have entered "limp mode" or whatever Mercedes calls it on their vehicals. Also a error message and check engine light would have come on it it entered the red zone on the gadge. Okay. So you don’t even have a genuine big block 6.2L V8 in this heap. What you have is an overpriced, unreliable mess with two huge sequential turbos, which, from an engineering perspective, are huge, round air vacuums waiting to suck in whatever nightmares (such as water lol) may come and a series of p-chips piping themselves into your cabin via your multi-speaker sound system. Additionally,
      more chips reside in your exhaust to deliver that demonic sound that the previous, far more durable and reliable (although I’m not saying very much about that given Mercedes-Benz’s currently horrid reputation for reliability and notoriously indifferent customer service) to equate to having a do in your engine bay telling you all you want to hear to inflate your needy ego.
      And whoever would you elect to put a lot of miles on a hand-built car in P-Burg’s wretched weather, hence destroying what little value it shall very soon posses.
      I worked for a Mercedes-Benz dealership until all my years of passion and research on this marque weren’t going to close a sale. Out of loaners??
      Then they ought to have handed you the keys to a CPO car and had you leave your s#+/t heap there instead of risking what shall surely culminate as additional damage.

    This brings back bad memories when I used to have a crappy old '02 Ford Focus ZX3 with a sticky thermostat. I would stop at a red light and I would see the temperature gauge needle soar up and up and up almost all the way to the red zone! And then when I would drive it would go right back to the middle. Sometimes it did even when I was cruising like in your case. It did this even after two or three trips to the mechanic. Bad times that I don't miss! That's why I'm fortunate to have such a better car since then.

    • @stang10189
      @stang10189 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be. Although 258 is higher then normal operating temps, it shouldn't be high enough to cause any damage. My main question would be, where is that temperature sensor located? In the radiator or in the hoses someplace before the transmission or is it in the transmission? I would definitely want to know so i could be sure of the transmission temperature and not just the temp of the coolant.

    Sorry to hear that Mike. Hope nothing else gets broken before you get rid of it. They sure are nice cars, it’s a shame it costs so much to maintain them.

    Mike surely the mesh grille(s) on the front of the bumper need to be finer with smaller ventilation gaps so it minimises as much as possible debris getting through and damaging the radiators or intercoolers? Also do you need to stump up the $1300 or is it covered by your warranty? Cheers man 👍
