Yay! One of my cars made the list, '04 Cayenne. My favorite car I own (and I own a bunch). It's super expensive to maintain, terrible on gas, and has extremely high mileage but I absolutely love it.
Come on bro what were you thinking? Stop making cars become expensive. At this point I should buy a Rolls Royce phantom if life is gonna get expensive.
My M5 F10 BMW just had a severe Battery fire a few weeks ago, which made me want to get rid of it immediately.. With that being said, i still love what that car represents and cant bring myself to let it go. I'll just fix the car from top to bottom and keep it for a while as it gains relevance over time
I bought my 2009 Cayenne with 84k miles three years ago for $11 grand. It's my seventh Porsche and it has endeared itself to our family and I believe that it will be iconic in the future. Amazing build quality of course and it does everything well. We'll never sell her, even though I'm looking at a 2014 deisel to add to our stable.
Hey Doug. I bought a 2018 manual 5.0 mustang. It's avPP1 in kona blue with the optional magnaride and 401 interior. I paid 38k canadian in 2019. The s550 feels like the modern mk4 supra. It's not that special until modified. The current market is above what I paid due to the new car market shortage and the horsepower drop of the new 5.0 cars. I got the car for the sound and the long drive capably. For another 40k it can be a Ferrari killer. With electric cars the price won't always be relative to speed and off the line thrills. As a porsche tech the taycan is wild. But a 981 caymans are smiles all day. I'm probably not able to make it all the wat to California and say THIS. Nearly as well as Dougy here. This video is Doug going full elon musk on the car market. He's right about how great the cars are. We all agree we would daily or want one. It's finding good ones. And good buyers. Avoid the dealerships taking a trade and don't even tint the windows if you're trying to sell a factory car. We currently have a 930 turbo in the shop getting ready for a museum. This person has potentially purchased the last old New stock catalytic converter and muffler available to the gen pop. My point is. Know what side of the fence your car sits on. The desired stock car or the capable platforms. Both types are worth money for different reasons. Yet mk4s are worth alot based on the 1000hp rep it has. The list of cars that can punch 4 digit horsepower figures with boost fuel , free breathing, a bit of time and a tune. Doug could be making another video that 16mins. Wow I just kept going. Reach out Doug. Lol
2:49 one car I was thinking of was the 2012-2014 Chrysler 300’s. Not many of these were made compared to other SRT vehicles, especially the 2014 year where only 496 SRT’s were ever made and that number keeps decreasing…
@@turbointegra82 I think you are mistaken for the 1st gen. The 300 SRT8 got a refresh in 2012 that looks much better. Plus the interior isn’t really the main appeal. It’s the big 6.4L that makes it so appealing. Nobody ever bought them because the styling was too subtle.
My brother has one of the 4th gen V8 4runners, he's done a few small things like suspension, wheels and tires and lighting since we do a decent amount of camping and driving logging roads. They're awesome vehicles, after driving his a bunch I'd take one over a new 5th gen or one of the older ones without a second thought.
11:40 i agree because of the V8 so its a budget land cruiser… and the e60 M5 i agree much because of the v10/manual combo E46 M3 is basically the new E30 value wise
2 more common cars that are/will increase in value. 350z and camaro. you might call me dumb but the camaro is soon to go out of production and one of the most potent na v8s w a manual trans. the 350z, super popular drift car rn that everyone is crashing. theyre already 20 yrs old and are all the hype rn. its even hard to find a nice one rn. come 10 years they will be super hard to find.they have already appreciated massively the last 5 years
I want to add the Pontiac G8 to the list. Pontiacs last fun model before they were axed. Only made for 2 years and you could get a V6, 6.0 V8 or the 6.2 LS3 in the GXP. You can find higher mile but decent shape GXPs for under 30k but super low mile ones are already into the 40k range. It's the classic big sedan, big V8 and could even be had with a manual in the GXP.
957 Cayennes are a beast. They look beautiful, they handle well (air suspension + hydraulic steering), they are stupid fast and are luxurious. Plus, they have a Porsche badge. Also, nowadays there are lots of info about repairs and common issues and you can get VW OEM parts for pennies compared to original parts.
I think a. Honorable mention is the pre-facelift 3.3 Stinger GTs and G70s go up un value. Those are amazing cars. Twin turbo'd V6s for nearly 30k and pretty reliable at that.
I was looking at getting a V10 M5 and dealing with the issues. Anything that we understand we can prepare for and enjoy. Which that V10 can be repaired. Just like the V8 in the E90/92 M3. Good video Doug.
@@toms_garage not a chance. The v10 TDI in the SUV is boring and the S6/S8 5.2 V10 are not exciting compared to the 8,200 rpm BMW V10. The way the bmw pulls at the top end is insane. Watch Doug’s old video on the manual, even he mentions about being jealous when he sees one’s drives by.
V8 4runner owners are VERY reluctant to sell. Bulletproof engines, bulletproof cars. It's basically a Land Cruiser light, and you can modify them to be a take no prisoners badass land eating machine. Doug definitely needs to review one.
@@TubeTrotters Good to know about mirrors for the future. I traded the 4 runner for an MDX. For the best, I was much happier, more comfortable, better experience with MDX.

Find a great local shop if you get an E60 M5 and you're set. Maybe upgrade the speakers, too. A tune can get you just over 22 mpg if you keep the cruise set to 70. It's a great car that does have some maintenance issues but still. Definitely buy one with receipts for the service history. Don't keep the exhaust stock, too!
I guess you haven't heard about these cars critical defect - these S85 V10's would EAT their camshaft bearings after around 35k to 50k miles. To replace these CORRECTLY, it's approximilately a $10k plus job, IF the previous owner wasn't lazy and let the engine self destruct first. Replacement engines are around $35k to $50k and BMW no longer makes these NEW. Good luck with your V10 S85 fantasies, because this is what it comes with.
@@houseofno I know about it. I had mine replaced maybe ~300 miles before they were done for and it was an expensive job because of labor. If it's engine out, it's something like 50 hours of labor. The rod bearing service can be done with the engine still in the car which is far less labor. Now that mine are replaced, the only thing I'm concerned about at all is the SMG pump.
1992 Range Rover County in beluga black owner….. loved the styling, the Connolly leather, the wool carpets, but, horrific reliability issues. Was so glad to pass it on to another vehicle masochist
Cheaper models would be late 90’s to early 00’s AMG vehicles. Especially keeping an eye on well maintained C32’s. The C55’s have become as expensive as the W204 C63 and now the C32 has become the beat-on cheap AMG and clean examples are hard to come by now. I’ve owned mine for a short while and I’ve already seen values go up substantially. Along the same vein CLK55’s, the W209 not 208, are great alternatives to C55’s but much much cheaper currently.
Bubble psychology is rampant right now and I'm getting out of the semi-collectible car market (selling 07 S2000). It's obvious that the economy is distorted right now and I think we will get a MAJOR downturn, something between the Great Depression and 09 Great Recession. We have to purge this debt.
Classic Doug, assuming any of us are considering dropping 50 grand on a car when most of us have trouble maintaining craigslist shitboxes bought for $500 and a bag of weed.
Doug do you think the v8 Raptor market has leveled off or will these continue to climb as well? I was surprised to see one on C&B go for under $30k recently 🤔
They might fall a bit more but long term they'll go back up because they will become more scarce as the market gets more saturated with electric trucks. Enthusiasts will want the "old school V8" sound.
The W204 c63 AMG facelift models will certainly go up in value being the last N/A 6.2L engine built by AMG, especially the performance package+ and Edition 507 models
I can’t believe Doug seriously still touts the e36 m3, especially over the e92. No one wants like or cares about e36s. They’re junk, crappy, slow, Tons of electrical and interior issues that only get worse with age Every e36 m3 owner was and is just too broke for an e46 or e92.
doug, very imp question i have from almost a year...how long do you see the semiconductor shortage going on unitl ? 1 or 2 more years or more than that? do you think the markups on new car's will reduce anytime soon? Please comment.
I would add the Cadillac V2 CTSV (Coupe and Wagon, manual trans). They’re already pretty rare to see driving (especially the Wagon), and the styling is unique, dramatic and somewhat iconic… a recipe for a collector.
i LOVE that generation 4Runner. It’s my personal favorite. Wanted one for a while but wasn’t feasible until right around now. I have a newer Toyota SUV that I’d be willing to trade in for that thing lol
FYI- had v6 and not v8. Big time blind spot on rear side. Always had head on swivel changing lanes. Not fun. Stressful. Had significant transmission problem at around 90k. Traded it in for Acura MDX
Ohhhh noooooo Doug….time for me to get my money up while these cars are attainable. Back in 2014, had the opportunity to buy a 1991 NSX for $16k with 60k miles back in high school, but mom said a 2014 Nissan Sentra is a better choice…..which was $18k btw……this hurts to this very day 😢
For under $25k I think Jaguar XK (most other models also) are super underrated. If you take a look at the amount of car you can get for such a low cost that’s a Jaguar (especially their v8s) are insane!
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! I actually wrote a letter to Subaru a few years ago BEGGING for them to bring back the hatchback WRX. There's quite literally NOTHING in Subaru's lineup right now that would bring me to their dealership, but I'd practically buy a brand-new WRX wagon sight-unseen. Thanks, Doug! 😀
Maybe the 2nd gen Cayenne wasnt as off road capable as the 1st gen, but you can still modify them and pretty much tow anything too. The 2nd gen Cayenne offered not just one, but 2 diesels. They offered a diesel inline 6 in the base model Cayene, but they also offered a big diesel V8 in the Cayenne S and those are very rare and it was in the photo being shown at 15:25 which u probably dont realize. The 2nd gen Cayenne was a towing monster back then!
Great video, but it's important to note that the 4Runner you want is the 4WD Limited V8 from '06 and after when they got VVT. My guess is that SR5s don't go up or not as much
Thanks Doug!! The only V8 4Runner isn’t “over looked” anymore!!! I guess I’m back to the drawing board. I figured I had a chance, soon(saving), in grabbing a 4th Gen V8 4Runner before anyone noticed. Great! 🤨
First gen cayenne are going up because they got the Porsche classic designation and so Porsche will continue making genuine parts for them in the future. And if you got the advanced off road package, you get a locking rear differential and skid plates. And safari versions of it look super cool
Doug, You forgot the pretty rare SRT6 Crossfire, that's a rare Chrysler car after all. Of course there're the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger, but they were more popular form the start in mid 2000.
In Puerto Rico, all Tacoma years are high in price. It has been like that for over a decade. It's impossible to find even a high mileage 2001 under $9,000. Same with the RAV4. They just don't go down in price, not even the first generation. I gave up a long time ago. 😔

Great video. My FJ cruiser just keeps going up. I think I'll keep it for a long time! Thanks Doug.
I'm curious to see if the Pontiac Solstice GXP / Saturn Sky Redline will ever have their day.
I think another car to look for to going up in value because they are getting harder to find in great condition is the 2004 to 2008 Acura TL 😎

The Range Rover is not a starter car. Its a finisher car. A transporter of Gods. The Golden God.

Lexus SC430 2010 model and 2008 Toyota Solara SLE convertible. Both extremely reliable and fun to drive. Impeccable quality.
Fun to drive? Are you kidding?
I've driven a Solara SLE vert and it was one of the worst driving cars I've ever been in.
I have a 2008 SC430 with just over 35k miles. Very low production, and the 09 and 10 were even lower, so you are probably correct!

2:49 one car I was thinking of was the 2012-2014 Chrysler 300’s. Not many of these were made compared to other SRT vehicles, especially the 2014 year where only 496 SRT’s were ever made and that number keeps decreasing…
But no one likes those hideous cars with Tupperware for a interior.
Especially when Chargers looked more muscly and the Hellcats were coming out in a couple of years.
The 15-21 WRX as well, they already hold their value well but especially
now with the controversial new model, I imagine that could increase too
And the fact that Subaru has already killed the STI and WRX likely won't make it another generation.

WRX wagons will be depreciation proof.
I have a 2019 WRX with 36K miles and I'm pretty sure I could sell it right now for pretty much what I paid for it.

My GP has a V8 4WD Toyota FR that he uses to tow his boat and MAN that thing is amazing
11:40 i agree because of the V8 so its a budget land cruiser…

I want to add the Pontiac G8 to the list. Pontiacs last fun model before they were axed. Only made for 2 years and you could get a V6, 6.0 V8 or the 6.2 LS3 in the GXP. You can find higher mile but decent shape GXPs for under 30k but super low mile ones are already into the 40k range. It's the classic big sedan, big V8 and could even be had with a manual in the GXP.
LS2 GTOs as well. Brought a 46k mile 06 PBM in like 18 for 16k and similar cars are going for 25-30k now. Only put 5k on it since i got it.
Was gonna say chevy SS is just another car waiting to happen, they still sell for 30-40k and hold their value very very well

Keep up the amazing videos Doug!
Don't forget the land cruisers 80 series
I was looking at getting a V10 M5 and dealing with the issues. Anything that we understand we can prepare for and enjoy. Which that V10 can be repaired. Just like the V8 in the E90/92 M3.
Good video Doug.
Would people consider the v10 Audis Q7 & S6 etc

@@Matt-qv8zj Blind spots are an easy fix with blind spot mirror attachments. I've got them on my 4runner, never once an issue.

22 mpg in a e60 m5??? That’s hard to believe
@@DailyDriver. It's doable. You just have to resist the urge to pass people. Lol
I have loved the W211 E55 AMG since they were new. Still haven't bought one yet, but I love them to this day.
Bubble psychology is rampant right now and I'm getting out of the semi-collectible car market (selling 07 S2000). It's obvious that the economy is distorted right now and I think we will get a MAJOR downturn, something between the Great Depression and 09 Great Recession. We have to purge this debt.
I might be a bit biased (according to my channel hah!) but fully agree that the V8 4th Gen 4runner is really special
Classic Doug, assuming any of us are considering dropping 50 grand on a car when most of us have trouble maintaining craigslist shitboxes bought for $500 and a bag of weed.
Great video Doug but may I kindly suggest investing in some sound deadening for the garage to cut back on the echo on your home videos?
Doug, per decade (80s, 90s, 00s), should make videos of cars under $15,000 that are poised to appreciate or retain their value.
I never realised the 1st gen Cayenne had a low range transfer case and locking diff. That's actually super cool
Doug do you think the v8 Raptor market has leveled off or will these continue to climb as well? I was surprised to see one on C&B go for under $30k recently 🤔
Sadly all the cheap ones have been driven to Mongolia and back twice a week since new.
They might fall a bit more but long term they'll go back up because they will become more scarce as the market gets more saturated with electric trucks. Enthusiasts will want the "old school V8" sound.
4thgen 4runner is So Underated 🔥
All the hype is on the V8 but low key V6 4wd is the real gold mine
Agreed-I stick with the 6-cylinder models. Bulletproof.
Well thanks Doug, now no-one can afford these cars either.
They’re junk, crappy, slow, Tons of electrical and interior issues that only get worse with age
Every e36 m3 owner was and is just too broke for an e46 or e92.
Anyone buying a V10 M5 should get their head examined regardless of if they know about the issues and are prepared to sort them out.

Intel CEO said he sees it getting marginally better over time (given no other craziness happens) but will last until 2024 at least.
I've noticed the values of C4 Corvette ZR-1s have started to rise. Such an overlooked car.
I would add the Cadillac V2 CTSV (Coupe and Wagon, manual trans). They’re already pretty rare to see driving (especially the Wagon), and the styling is unique, dramatic and somewhat iconic… a recipe for a collector.
Wagons never really dropped in value, my guy.
